One of the major lie a lot of people who began going to school were sold and which became the motivating standard for many graduates today was that , they were told that school was the only way to get rich, if you're not educated you may never have the opportunity to be rich. But then, a lot of people have gone to school with the aspirations of making it through with their certificate from school but the real world made them realise otherwise. It made them realised that there are many ways to be rich and just going to school isn't just enough but just a necessity.

Well some people who went to school having that mentality that school was their only escape from poverty are regretting today because they never knew that the government had made no plans to give them a better job after going to school. Education is good and it opens a lot of opportunities but it is not the only way to make a person rich, while they are going to school they should engage in other skills so that or school doesn't give the opportunity their skills will.

That's why learning simple reading writing and arithmetic (at home), and street smarts... and then going to a trade school or apprenticeship is the best way.

Know doubt spending many years of our lifes in schools is not encouraging at times but we should not discourage others that prefers going to a full time school  because in one aspect it is very helpful.  Knowledgeable skills acquired during apprenticeship is very helpful in providing a good life to human but the advancement that can be gotten in schools can never be the same because schools provides both theoretical and practical aspects of what we seek which apprenticeship do not explained in such detail.
The rap it all both apprenticeship skill acquisition techniques and that of schooling are both good but one must choose what you can afford instead of going into what one cannot complete.

Having a skill or going into a trade is just the saving pathway for this current economic times, because even the little jobs the public and private may provide, still wouldn't be enough for the half of the population of applicants. Hundreds thousands of students are graduated every year but not so annually do we have large job openings for recruitment. Any young guy out there who does this arithmetical calculation of the situation would know very well to lean towards a skill before actually going for classroom education.

And there are many uneducated genius that bring good innovations with some people's idea which I believe if they have attended the education it will be far better than that. Some people say school scam because of the kind of education they are exposed to. Also, note that there are different types of education. So education should not be relegated to college education. Vocational skills and other soft skills that can be learned online are also part of education.

In some countries, their education system is in shambles. Their educational system is underfunded and bedridden by corruption. So I am not surprised that youths in some countries call education scam.

Definitely not. It’s true that some people who didn’t even graduate from tertiary level or got kicked out of high school become successful later in life. But let’s keep in mind, not everyone has the same fate. We all have different paths. Some may be similar, but in the end, they’re still different. Things that work for others might not work for you. School will never be a scam. Just imagine the world without professionals, without those who took their studies seriously and gave it their all.

Yeah, watching videos online, reading articles, etc., can give you knowledge, but being in school hits different. That’s your foundation, you’re building your base.

I couldn't agree more with this sentiment. I think the "School is a scam" slogan is a symptom of people confusing the "Degree" (the paper) with the "Education" (the process).
There is a massive difference between the two:

Your word here is actually blunt. It is not everyone who says education is expensive that has the money, but dont want to have the education. Some of them say it because they can't afford it. Deep down they want the education for themselves or their kids. Life in this present economy is very tough. We should try criminalizing education like America did toward the blacks in the slave states.

Doing this would provide motivation for the poor and enslaved (most of the populations of most countries) to actually seek education.  Most probably would not, especially here in the modern technological age, but in the scheme of things doesn't really matter if this class of people can read or not.

It's interesting that the printing press was seen as a huge danger by the powers that existed back in the day.  I think I read that reading was actively discouraged by the power structures which tended to be literate and associated with the Catholic church.  And it is quite true that they had a lot to lose; the Protestant reformation followed and did them a great deal of damage.

I read somewhere that in America, before anything which resembles the modern school system, the literacy rate was running around 95%.  That may have been among the more Northern states.  I doubted this when I first read it, but at this point I find it more believable.  Basic reading and mathematics are not really all that difficult after all, and if there are peer pressures and functional reasons to know these skills, it's pretty possible for an average (or sub-average) person to pick them up.  Of course in the age of IA generated multimedia trash and AI 'helpers', there my be less incentive for people to teach their kids or themselves such skills.

I have a big disdain for people who castigate schooling because it has not worked for them. Update the scheme of work likewise preparing children and students on how to use what they've leant in school to prepare for real life issues is the real deal not done enough especially in Africa. I do not believe that school is a scam but I know and I do know thing that there are people who have these unrealistic expectations from the education sector. For generation and generations stufen were taught that if they study hard they will get good marks and and good grades then they will get a degree with a stable job good salary and then the cycle will be followed but in today's economy as the number of unemployment is increaseing this thing is not realistic and the jobs are not guaranteed there are thousands and thousands of graduates who are struggling to get employment but there are also people who don't even have college degrees but they have very successful career because they have the required skills. The quality of good education is obtained from the focus of students ' learning and good teacher competence, most teachers in school institutions now only convey what is written in books without entering thoughts that can be accepted by today's people, I see the way of thinking the ancients could be successful if they went to school but now it's almost the same.

I totally agreed with you on this, what one might think its easy and enjoyable are truly happy inside. I have witnessed a friend where they will say they don't want to go to school because they want to spend because they want to do something different in their lives, knowing that their parents won't be in support of it, but the influence that their parents have will force them to go, meanwhile there are other people who truly wants to go to school but can't afford to nor their parents. School is not a scam and can never be but some degrees are scam in Nigeria. Tell me the reason why, a person will enter school and start studying micro biology, Physics, social studies and the rest. What are the cause for, is it for teaching job or what. From my own point of view school can never be scam, it weird seeing and hearing people say school na scam, of course it not and can never be, though the system on how school operate most especially government schools are failing. But let look at it probably the main reason why most people say school na scam is main because of the much unemployed graduates that we have, so I don't think we should that to judge and conclude that school is scam.

Basically school is meant to educate student and get them ready for exposure of opportunities
