These days, education is becoming a social gathering where students go with their devices to watch movies and do Tiktok with their fans and followers. Artificial intelligence has made learning less easy and making research do not interest most students again.
Instead of doing a concrete research, some students will prefer to use AI and do all of their assignments and also use it to write exams.
No more critical reasoning again, they are now after making money and becoming famous on social media.

It is painful to see what the current generation is becoming and how more non-ambitious youths are produced. The case of AI has being an innovative development which has made the youths so lazy to put in actual work to perform a task without the use of AI, and this is really affecting the educational system of the country.

To a certain extent, the government play a role in the educational setting of a country and how it should be operated. Additionally, parents also play a vital role to make their children see the essence of education and the beauty in the struggle, it requires a contributive effort for the good of the incoming generation.

Although, some people might find it interesting to go to school but due to their inability to sort out all the requirements that they needs to meet up before they start such as school fees and other things they may need and there are some people that don't like school as they think money is the most important thing for them to get, as it will get them to anywhere they want but if they government provide help by making things easier to afford, at least it will be of helpful.

I think so myself, it's system fault that many youngsters after completing there schooling remains jobless. Government should published  yearly survey report in which details must be mentioned about how many engineers, doctors, teachers, influencers , skilled workers or programmers and much more are needed in the country in up coming year. It would give easy access to the students about the selection of their field. It would helps the students to find jobs accordingly. Due to not clarity or poor planning every year schools produce bulk of students for different fields that's not the requirement of the labour market. So schools are not scam or not the real cause of problem, but the real issue is lack of coordination between school and government plannings.

The thing is that if you analyze the way the activities are conducted in the government schools of my country in many cases, then you will definitely see so much irregularities and corruption in the government schools of our country that a conscious citizen like you will never want to admit children to government schools. Irregularities in classes, irregularities in studies, even teachers skipping classes and giving tuition to students separately to earn money, etc. As a result of the salary scale of government school teachers in our country being higher than other employees, most teachers neglect their duties due to a different mood among the teachers. That is why sometimes it seems that the quality of education in private schools is much better than in government schools.

Just like what made me quite my academic dreams,  after spending some years of in schools with hope of getting employed after all, it turned in an opposite direction and I once called school a scam and continued pushing for ways of making money without the use of certificates.

I believe everyone of us have our opinions on this topic, school appear to be scam for some and also not scam for some. It's simple do what works for you other than settling and complaining about the system, there's absolutely nothing to do other than to strive. The average Nigerian have dreams and very ambitious when it comes to the future, a very promising one for them and they think school is everything needed to acquire and gain acquaintance with GREATNESS but the world we lived in, it's way beyond that scenario. I have seen educated people failed to make it in life and I have also seen uneducated people making it in life and employing educated ones to work for them. This world is not just as we see it, so we should do literally everything possible to make it either with school or not.

Education system has different type of flaws and some schools are relying on memorization or just standard testing however we cannot still say that schools are training qualified slave, schools provide education, critical thinking for problem solving skills, communication and technical skills to the people that give them choice to take the decisions in life, the skills allowing to individuals to make their careers or to start a business or to contribute to the society in a good way.
That helps them to improve their economic condition. There are entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, engineers and doctors who have started their journeys from school, so we cannot say that schools are producing qualified slaves.

I think those people deserve some criticism because they misunderstood and had the wrong expectation about education.

Education and qualifications provide knowledge, skills, and opportunities, but they aren't a guaranteed ticket to wealth or success. These are two completely different things, and if someone doesn't understand that and chooses to blame the education system instead of admitting that the fault lies with them, they deserve criticism.

It's just that some people do not value education in Nigeria. There are no job opportunities, but that does not mean being educated is a scam. If you can get out of this trap then school system is not a scam, but you know they are a lot of people who have that mentality of getting a better job after school, in their believe, they think being educated is an achievement of getting rich, which was why they usually see school as a scam. In the old days, let me say 70s and 80s, works are actually waiting for the student to finish school so that they will get engage immediately, this mentality is always with most of our parents because it's happened to them, which they believe it will continue like that, but unfortunately so many things change because population have increased and that is affecting almost everyone. Growing up as a child, going to school was one of the big dreams in my society (how about yours?) and parents are glad to have a child graduate from higher institute. But as for now school is scam is a phrase that some or many adults and parents say, even some teenagers and primary/basic school children easily say it.

Before we even dive deep into this. What is scam in the first place. Scam usually involves intentional deception. Note, the definition was sourced online.

I don't think school internally deceived you. What actually did that was society. They painted an unrealistic expectation that once you finish school there's work for you. Meanwhile it is not always so. Factors can make one land a job like the economy, is there really jobs available. Skills. What other skills have you learn besides your education. Couple of others too. School was there to educate you, not guarantee you a job when you finished.

Exactly I agree with your point of view. You need to get out from that's trap and start learn new skill if you want to not regret later and balme the school system. Education is important in life but the schooling system can't give you the real Education they just repeat the old tradition step after step and it's not working in real life. Discussing about our education, we will also say the government has failed with its current approach towards education sector, like they have failed in security and infrastructural development sector of the country. The government has also failed in providing economic growth and development in the country and I have my reasons for saying it but it’s not really what I want to talk about now. Discussing about our education sector, the government is using an obsolete system of teaching and education for our primary, secondary and tertiary educations unlike it is in more developed nations such as Singapore where they make use of the TLLM framework of teaching which is Teach Less, Learn More approach instead of the rote memorization which is practiced among us in Nigeria.

I think what you’re talking about depends on the part of the World you’re coming from, considering that you’re coming from African, most especially in countries like west Africa you’re going to see a different thing entirely, you see the high level of unemployment rate from people and most graduates doesn’t have a job which is why you see that the youths are saying that education is a scam, because I’m still wondering how education is a scam when without education you can’t learn how to read and write, and having a good professional career, but in the western country you see so many job opportunities but the laborers are few, so anyone saying that education is a scam have a reason for saying that, and the reason is best know to them, everyone have different perspectives about things.

If most graduates are unemployed in your country, that is the government's fault for failing to create enough jobs. But if you have graduated while many of your friends have good job and stable incomes and you do not, then that is your responsibility because you have failed to apply what you learned in the real world.

Education and school have never been a scam or the problem. They simply provide you with knowledge and tools, but they do not guarantee anything. Blaming education only shows that we are avoiding responsibility for our own choice and effort.
