The US Embassy in Abuja has cancelled all vis appointments, directing applicants to check email for rescheduling. This follows the State Department for authorization for non-emergency staff, and families to leave due to a deteriorating security situation in Nigeria.Visa operation will continue in Lagos, according to Daily trust.

Here is the news:BREAKING: US Cancels All Visa Appointments After Ordering Staff To Leave Abuja - Daily Trust , more details : https://www.beloud.com/news/131216532

This is very disgusting, even in the federal capital territory, there is fear of insecurity, and this is an evidence that no where is safe in this country.
Who is going to deliver from this mess, and when shall this insecurity threat come to an end?
Nigerians should remain prayerful and seek for good governance and selfless leadership in other to make Nigeria a better place to live.

This is a real social issue but the truth remains that we are blinded with what we see in the outside world and refuse to acknowledge our inner powers, Nigeria is not just a mere country, only has a failed government but in that we are not failed people we can do something. The embassy denying us access is just some stereotypical flex used by the US people to lower the egos of people in the part of the world then if this insecurity which is also a problem sponsored years earlier by the same US government through some Aids which were not really aid funds, they term Nigeria a country that needs their help and then their interventions that leads to destabilization of countries begin. We have seen this strategically displayed over and over if only our leaders or foreign ministers can do things right we can maneuver these situations.

Nigeria is a red spot right now, but what is surprising for me is why the sudden turn of events, I thought Trump was coming to help Nigeria fight terrorism and insecurity, why has he changed suddenly?
Most likely, it's in connection with what recently happened with the fake news that Trump accused its source of being from Nigeria?
This whole thing is very funny and totally unfair to the Nigerian government who have appeared helpless in the face of the current insecurity challenge in the country.

The link is broken or the post is removed. If it's  true , then it means one thing. Trump might be trying to suspend every entry for now or there's  a threat somewhere regarding a possible  attack. I'm  going to look  more into the news and edit my post  but what you just mentioned is unusual , they can't  just suspend activities all of a sudden, there has always been fear of insecurity but what happend has to be a result of some leaked plans or threats.

Edit:
I just did and found out Visa issuance from the USA has been partially suspended  since February 2026.

The current  is trully as a result of the insecurity but it seems they've  been receiving  more and more threat recently:
LAGOS, March 10 - The U.S. embassy in Nigeria warned American citizens of a possible "terrorist threat" against U.S. ‌facilities and affiliated schools in the West African country in a security alert late on Monday.

Below is the one about your  post :
The U.S. highlighted threats from Islamist insurgents in the northeast, criminal gangs ‌in the northwest and ongoing violence in parts of southern and southeastern Nigeria, including oil‑producing regions

Till further notice. It means fix your  country  and guess what those in charge of fixing are currently busy with three 2027 campaigns.

I agree with u. Sometimes we really focus too much on the outside and forget the strength we have within. Nigeria as a country has potential and as people we are not failures even if the system is not working but I feel we should not put everything on external forces like the US. It is true that global politics play a role but many of the challenges we face today are also from internal issues like our leadership, policy decisions and the way we also manage our system. I feel the visa situation clearly shows us how insecurity and instability can affect how other countries relate with us. I also agree with you on this that if our leaders and institutions are stronger and more strategic we won’t be exposed to decisions like this. So all this happening is just a mix of internal and external factors but we need to fix what is in our own control.

The insecurity in Nigeria, is very worrisome and from what I can see I don't think that it will stop anytime soon because we keep hearing about killings almost on a daily basis. I cannot blame the US government for priotizing the safety of their citizens in the north because clearly our government have failed to give it's citizens adequate security talk less of foreigners. Believe me if I get the means to japa from this country with my family I will not hesitate because the lack of security and hardship in the land is alarming.
