They are actually something quite similar but also a bit different in certain ways. Because  both lottery and gambling are based on luck and both give people hope of making quick money. From my experience, my father consistently plays the lottery for years now. There was even a time 5-10 years ago where he hit 5/6 numbers in which he garnered a win of ~$5,000 out of the $2 million total jackpot if he hit 6 numbers. As a lottery player I agree to some extent with you, but I'll tell you that there are also ways to gamble (or bet, btw) that are similar to playing lotteries. Any form of gambling can be abused. Some lottery players might want to buy more tickets, which would lead to spending more than they can afford. National Lottery seems to be going obsolate in my country. Years ago investigation proved that there was some shady activities going on the selection of winners. Sports betting ans casino games are my favourites.

Isn’t lottery still gambling as well? I think there’s really not much difference aside from the low stake and high return, because that’s basically what lottery is known for. But obviously when you play lottery, it can feel more like donation money too, since if I’m not mistaken it was originally tied to the state and meant to raise funds for humanitarian purposes. So even if we already know the odds are against us, some people still play because they feel like they are also helping others in some way.

I believe it’s the same if you are a slot player but if you are just playing on sportsbook then your choice is justifiable since both slot and lottery are pure luck based and has a very low chance of winning the max win or jackpot prize.

Yes lottery I guess is much way harder to win compared to gambling. Before I always joined lottery which called Lotto in our place and Im consistently betting on it everyday but its really hard.. the game is to get 6 numbers from 1 to 45 ot sometimes until 55. So the chance of getting it is literally slim but if you got it all then the prize is obviously a life changing money but how often you cam get 6 numbers from those pool? Well, it gives hope to those who cling to a jackpot. In the past, I thought it was not wrong, but whenever I remember my grandfather, who doesn't miss a day of betting for the national lottery, I always want to compute how much money he wasted, and I do believe it's a lot.
It's wrong if you calculate it in the long run. That money could've bought a car or made a kid go to college and finish it. Years of betting in the lottery and nothing was won. Some wins will only pay for the last betting ticket, but that's it. No jackpot or anything.
