Spread a smile
Report: 28th May, Children’s Day OutreachI want to use this opportunity to appreciate every one of you that saw it fit to put a smile on the face of vulnerable children, to remind them that far in the distance and even very close by, there are people who care about them, and we’ve still got so much good in this world.
You all blurred the lines between social structures and gave the children the chance to grow up feeling loved and made to know they matter and that they belong. Every smile you spread makes our world a little brighter, and these kids would potentially be the ones that would spread a smile in the nearest future.
It was wonderful feeling for me, to function in the capacity you guys have allowed me to and to feel the joy from the kids.

Good luck and thanks for helping those children..
Here is a rundown on how the money was spent.
We received a total of $309 BTC, converted at the rate of #1,371 per $1 which gives #425,000.
A total of $312.12 converted at #1,371 for $1 which gives #427,918 was used in purchases for the kids. As you can note, the amount used for the purchase is slightly above the donations, and that’s because I had to top up what we had to enable us to get all the requirements.
All items where purchased at a well recognized mall and food items were processed in a hygienic environment, using Nigerian Agency for Food and Drug Administration safety regulations.
100 packs of jollof rice/chicken #375,358
76 bottles of Coca-Cola. #22,800
24 bottles of Fanta. #11,520
96 bottles of clean water. #18,240
Sum = #427,918
I also made a banner and some stickers; it didn’t cost much, just about $4.37 converted at #1,371 for $1, which would be #6,000.
Through our having to get what we had for the kids and finding our way to the slums, we came across some of the privileged kids and their parents/guardians having a good time at event centers and the park.
These are some of the reasons why it's very necessary that we embark on these kinds of projects to ensure that the lines that separate privileged kids and the unprivileged ones don't get bold and wide with the deteriorating economy.

The putting of a smile
The activities started at 12 noon and ended at 6 pm. I and the helping hand I could find made our way to a slum location and got in touch with the kids before sharing the food packs, I shared some encouraging words with the children about life and how tomorrow they could still grow up to achieve big dreams bigger than their immediate environment as long as they keep believing and working hard towards it. I encouraged them to stay away from crime and strive to be good citizens. They were happy; they sang for us and prayed for the donors who made the outreach possible.

Challenges
Where there is a positive energy, you would be sure to experience some negatives as well. I thank goodness that we were able to manage it good.
Security Risk: In the slums you’re sure to meet different calibers of people, those who live life at the edge and a lot more different from you. We were able to manage well by being alert, aware, and maintaining a good relationship with those we came across.
Access to the Children: Children are the future of the home, and so they are protected by parents and guardians even in the slum. The ills in a typical Nigerian society posed some hindrance, but we had to speak with some of the elders in the slum community, discuss what we were here for, how we acquired our funding, and give proof of how we got our items to build some level of trust before they could give us access to the children.
Some adults wanted packs of their own; we prioritized the children, and with about 6 spare packs after all the available kids had received a pack, we handed them over to the pregnant women and those that assisted in organizing the children.
Vote of thanks
My sincere appreciation once again to everyone who contributed to making this Children’s Day outreach a success. Because of your willingness to give, many vulnerable children had a reason to smile on Children’s Day and enjoy a meal just like other privileged children did.
With givers like you, we are reminded that we can always make a meaningful difference in another person’s life.
Thank you for trusting and believing in these outreach programs and for your willingness to show love.
God bless you.
