Well I want to add this now because other members that are not part of the local board want to joint this contest and I might likely get a response from icopress to do the needful by opening it to anyone who want to participate in it…there is this words ringing in my heart let love lead…

Yeah you’ve done a great deal already bringing the competition to the local board as competitions like this drive a great deal of traction for the local board and it might not be a bad idea to open it up to others in the forum but as a first it should have just been local maybe next time you can go global and open for everyone.

I don’t think it’s fair to say some people are contracting professionals to do their jobs as there is no way of knowing, some persons can be creative and some already might be artists.

Naturally, one question keeps coming to my mind, if an ordinary person did this work, how was it done so neatly and perfectly. Actually, without the help of skilled workers, it is not really possible to achieve such a fine finishing. I am not sure how they did it but I believe they must have taken help from professionals. When skilled people are involved, it is only normal for the result to look this good.

When I saw that some of the artworks were made with the help of skilled workers and presented with such perfect finishing in the contest, I felt that my own handmade work was not that good. It is normal that when pieces are made with professional support and look so clean and refined, our handmade ones may not appear as strong. Because of that, I feel like I may not get many votes in the voting stage.🥹

This is actually great contest idea, moving away from the usual posting into something creative and hands on is a very good direction.

I like the fact that it is limited to natural mud and simple tools. That makes it fair for everyone and we can already see from the replies how much attention this contest is getting, well done @Mr Reporter

Also, respect to the sponsor for supporting something that promotes creativity and community bonding rather than just typical engagement farming. That is something we need a lot more of on this forum.

But I will advise you leave it that way so it won’t cause a lot of controversy because you can’t actually prove that they are not the once that did it so just let it be by next year you can bring up a rule that will stop this same thing from repeating it self, you can just let people know during the voting time so they will be aware of this and vote those they believe really did it by themselves.

What do you notice that made you come to this conclusion? People have lives outside the forum and could be craftsmen in real life. True, there is a possibility that the work may be outsourced but there is no way of proving that. It’s just like the art contests on the forum, it’s been running for years and never I have seen applications rejected because they looked too good to be done by the person.

I don't know art and mud contest is ongoing on the Nigerian local board maybe it's because I haven't been active here for sometimes that's why this almost slipped off my fingers but thank God it didn't. Op, I love this great idea and initiative of your because it will prompt peace and love among us and also be a gateway for Nigeria local board to showcase their skill to the forum.

Do not rush in to conclusion rather if you notice anyone who has gone against the rules of the contest the best thing is to fish them out so that they can be disqualified that is if you stated it in your rules. You don't need to wait till the final day before disqualifying such people but before you point out anyone out be very sure of what you are saying because there are different people in the Naija board with different craft. You need to also try to detect people who have used AI to do their mud because nothing is impossible, anyone found cheating should face the penalty so that others will learn to stop cheating and do the right things.

DT members should also take note of the information so that they can tag any account that is found cheating in the contest. People should learn to stop playing smart over little things they should do by themselves and not involve cheating inside I believe using one person as a scape goat will help to put fear in the eyes of others.

Your point is valid but I think the op of the competition has his reasons for saying and he would have been more discreet with the rules at first if actually he wanted the competition to be purely filled with evidence that the users were the actual ones that did the craft, I mean he would have simply added that each art or sculpture would be need to upload the album of the process of the moulding atleast to save the suspicious thoughts that some of the works were done by a skilled craftsman ( which anyone can be )

I know that people can go to any length just to make their art more creative by paying money to professional craftsmen, but what is the guarantee that they would win because the winners will not be selected but rather voted. In most contest in this forum, people do go extra mile to increase their chances of winning it either by being creative themselves or by meeting people who are better at it. Do not also be surprised that we might have some craftsmen here in the local board who are professionals because the local board comprises of people from many places with different skills.

Yes, the contest is gaining popularity even from outside the local board and it’s nice seeing everyone showcase their works. In the beginning I was sure I knew which art submissions were going to win but now the competition has become tight that it’s hard to pick one.

Nah so e dey always dey with contests. The beginning submissions no go too choke bit we time dey go on, you go begin see ones wey go make brain to the point say you no go know which one to choose if you wan vote. Omo, all the ones I don see make sense and I cut cap for all the participants because e no dey easy to pass on creative things to mud. I no go lie, I no Sabi mold and when e dey come up for school, my own dey always get k-leg so those wey don drop their submissions try well.

Yeah I have seen some good artwork here, a friend of mine actually even told me about this event and I rush to check out today hopefully am not that late to submit an entry as I saw that the entry deadline was started to be on 14th so still have like two weeks atleast to drop my master piece.

Do you mean that people's artwork must look unprofessional for it to be termed "They did it by themselves"? Of course you know only few people here in the board and there are still people who are craftsmen in real life here and seizes such an opportunity to showcase their talents. Again some of the fine works are still done by people who must have hired adequate machinery to make their work have very smooth finishing. It is all about showing your creativity and there is no length that becomes out of scope to demonstrate perfection in your creative presentation of your project.

Absolutely, I think doing it yourself doesn't have to mean it must look bad or unpolished, skill level varies and some individuals have the experience any tools to produce very refined work on their own either way creativity and effort should still consider, having good looking tools or finishing doesn't automatically means it wasn't self created.

I didn't see this earlier, It only came to my knowledge when Crytohillss quoted me wrongly, but I want to add my 2 cents to it, although I didn't participate but it would not make sense at all to disqualify someone else's work simply because it looked good, you will incite a lot of controversy rooted on bias and trying to channel the reward to a group of people, branded as your friends. I advise yo remain neutral and as long as those people showed convincing images of the processes of making the craft, then it is legitimately theirs. Don't try to play so much of a dictator because of the opinions of those who couldn't achieve a smooth work, it would surely backfire and you may not be pleased with the outcome.
