I know that it only takes the union of a man and a woman to have sexual intercourse to bring a child into this world. I also know that for some medical reasons if a couple cannot conceive and they still want to have children they can go for adoption.  So it's very understandable for the opposite sex couples to adopt because it takes opposite sex to bring children into this world.

My question is what about same sex couples who's union can never produce a child, what moral rights do they have to go for adoption? I know that LGBT is not legal in Nigeria, so by right they are not qualified to adopt children but some countries recognizes their rights. My thought is that even if a country allows same sex marriage they shouldn't allow them to adopt children because by nature their unions cannot produce children. This just my thoughts what do you think about it?

Yes, this is not legal in Nigeria. It would have been better if this is asked in politics and society board on the general discussion section of this forum instead.

Anyone that is seen doing it will be sentenced to 14 years in prison in Nigeria which is not bad at all.

In the country that it is legal, if husband and wife that do not have children can adoption children, same sex couples also have the right to adoption children.

This just my thoughts what do you think about it?

It's funny how those that supports these things often have their own reasons like (rights, freewill, etc), and they are always ready to prove a point. Well, I have stopped thinking much about all these things, but as far as this country is concerned, adoption of children by couples of same gender, is not acceptable. Infact, the majority frawn on marriage of the same sex, which makes the idea of adopting a child very impossible. It might be legal in other countries like the first user said, but it is clearly determined by the same law governing each country.

It is funny to think about how this thought even got to your head but truthfully speaking, this world is going gaga and I can say it's not only you that's having that thought. Same sex marriage is only a joke because the both parties already know it would never last. Sometimes I see it as self deceit and urge to live a strange lifestyle sometimes to prove a point or something like that. I would never support any legislation that would favour such marriage too and I believe that laws are made by Humans too.

If a same sex lovers adopt a child, who will be the father and if this child grows, what will his story look like? Can he accept to be there? I only see people supporting same sex marriage as mad people because I really don't know how else to describe such madness. Legalising child adoption for gays will be the worst injustice to children.

Most times i wonder what humans actually want, with all the handsome men and pretty juicy ladies out there people will still want to go for same sex marriage, how disgusting this can be, what moral or emotional justification do the people have to back this satanic act? how do they even enjoy sex having it with same sex, sincerely this is the only good part in Nigeria that they haven’t legalized this barbaric act of same sex marriage.

In my opinion those same sex couples have no right to adopt any child because if they do what morals will they want to communicate to the child, imagine a child growing up to know that his/her parents are same sex, imagine him calling a man his mother because in that their union they use to have one act as the man while the other will act as a woman, imagine the stigma that their child will be getting amongst his/her peers, this barbaric act of same sex marriage should be completely abolished neither should they be allowed too to adopt any child because the practice go against moral standards, even animals don’t act this way so i wonder humans want.

This is a very sensitive topic especially in Nigeria where the law and society does not support same sex relationships or marriages but beyond the legal and cultural side, I think the conversation should also consider the welfare of the child because every child deserves a safe and stable loving home. Some people believe that only a traditional family structure should raise a child while others feels that what matters most is the quality of care and not not necessarily about the parents being of the same sex. But as we all know in Nigeria that the law is already been clear in this matter so it is not something that is allowed but as a discussion, it raises deeper question about parenting values and what truly makes a home suitable for a child. Different people will see it differently based on their belief, culture and religion but it’s important to have the conversation with respect and understanding.

I understand that what matters most should be that a child will be raised in a safe and loving home where he or she will receive love and good upbringing. It is also important that traditional family values should be respected where by nature it takes a man and a woman to bring children into this world.

I respect the rights of same sex couples but I don't think that it is appropriate for them to adopt children because their choice cannot bring children into this world, that is my point.
