This is just to let people know that they should not send money to MEXC if they do not want compulsory KYC verification.

Why don't send people this reminder first.
Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts.

Binance did the right thing asking for Know Your Customer only for customers who wanted to continue using their service.  Platforms that ask for Know Your Customer for withdrawals are SCAMMING their customers.  If there was no ID scan required when you deposited, it makes no sense to ask for it when withdrawing.  It sounds like they are looking to seize as in scam customers out, legally.
It's how better Binance was compares to other centralized exchanges but they have changed recent months after CZ was sued and imprisoned as well as he and the exchange had to pay $B fees to the USA.

The dust settled but Binance changed and recent weeks, there are more reports on how Binance began to terminate their user accounts but at least they only stop trading and no longer allow those users depositing more money while they allowed users withdrawing all money in their accounts.

Why KYC is extremely dangerous – and useless.

Is "scamming" customers really that worth it? Wouldn't they jut move away from their platform after they finished their KYC if that's how MEXC treats them?
The 'scam' is that they understand that many customers use their service because they are a no-kyc centralized exchange. Now, forcing them to do kyc before they withdraw, means that a lot of the said customers would probably not be willing to submit their personal data to Mexc, effectively meaning that the exchange keeps steals the funds.

There was an official article published on April 3rd(*), highlighting the latest KYC policy in points 6 to 8, which appears to apply to all users.
So if I get this right, you basically have to do KYC now since withdrawal is locked behind it. Sounds contradictory to their email notification.
I didn't try to find any official (public) articles older than this (one I found) to compile it. @eaLiTy said they had already warned users with several emails last few weeks before the KYC policy actually became mandatory. See this...
not sure why OP was forced to undergo KYC for withdrawal, first mail reached me on 13th March and they were notifying me every week to undergo the KYC and they sent a total of 5 mail notification and the final one on 26 March, so i believe they were doing the same with every user registered with them.

I don't know if OP received such an email, or if MEXC simply sent them to users selectively.
Users who don't regularly check their emails might miss this warning.

I have been using MEXC since few years ago, but I wanted to withdraw small amount of coin on the exchange, I was unable to do that and I was requested to complete primary KYC which will require personal documents like national ID card, intentional passport or driver's license.

Exchanges like Binance, Bybit and some other ones do not force people to verify but leave an option to withdraw all your coins  when they made KYC mandatory, but MEXC did not do like that but forcing customers.
All the exchanges have a similar characteristics, I think these are the new methods some of the exchanges introduced, especially if you're yet to complete their primary KYC verification...

Because I noticed that same attitude of MEXC by forcing their clients to verify their account, is same thing Remitano exchange is doing to their customers currently...

So that's why i said that most of them have similar attitude..I think this is their new method, especially if you have funds in your wallet they will ask you to complete your verification.... I taught that's why they're forcing their customers is because of changed of Ip address, but i noticed that's not the reason they're forcing to complete their KYC....

It usually only appears that way before the rules are enforced, but once they take effect, those exchanges tend to require KY, especially when you try to withdraw. Accounts that weren’t verified beforehand often get prompted at that stage.

So in practice, yes, most of them end up forcing users to complete KYC once the mandatory date kicks in. Based on google they started that rule since june 2024.

Not a user of MEXC, but I can remember old discussions, not necessarily here on the forum, in which some users somehow promoted and defended MEXC, implying that it isn't like the rest; that they've been trading, withdrawing, using its services for years and not once have they been asked to undergo KYC. May be true, but, of course, they're all the same. It's just that they impose KYC at different times. They don't bow down to regulations at the same time. But I thought MEXC had already made KYC compulsory a few years ago.

MEXC exchange and their policy as well as action with KYC on users were discussed many times in this forum.

Here are some of such topics on MEXC.
Opinions on Mexc GLobal.
Passed KYC from "prohibited country" on MEXC?
What are the best exchanges without KYC for trading currently?

Yeah, as I said it just feels contradictory whether they send those emails selectively or not. That means they also selectively choose which users are allowed for withdrawal without KYC and so on. Then again, emails can use a template that are outdated so we can only see how they actually handle withdrawal request from many users to actually see how they handle it. I wonder if local exchanges will follow the same step (though most if not all of them already force people to do KYC now).

MEXC was not a true no-KYC exchange. You might still be allowed to do some trading without verification, but there was certain limitations. Anybody who was using them with the expectation that they would never request identity verification was asking for trouble. Practically every other major centralized exchange has already made KYC mandatory. There wasn’t any reason MEXC would be the exception; it was just a matter of time.

Going forward, I would only expect blockchain based exchanges like Hyperliquid to remain KYC free. They might not have all the features of CEXs, but this is probably the best option for retail traders that don’t want to do KYC.

This is utterly ridiculous and shows that they aren't enforcing KYC as part of a legal requirement, but rather engaging in broader, selective scamming. If the platform isn't adhering to its own terms of service, why force users to comply?

Yeah, but i believe what they offered was the most a no-kyc centralized exchange can offer. If there were no limitations, that could only be crossed through kyc verification, then it no longer would have been a centralized exchange. However, what they offered was still fairly good, the opportunity to trade up to a certain amount without kyc.
Anybody who was using them with the expectation that they would never request identity verification was asking for trouble.
I agree with you. I don't think there's anyone in this forum who is surprised about this--maybe in the way they are handling it, which is shady--but other than that, it was only a matter of time until they made kyc mandatory in their platform.

I’ve already withdrawn all the funds I had there
I had some USDT in my account because I had BTC buy orders that hadn’t been filled, but after that, I decided to withdraw everything

I’ve already expressed my dissatisfaction to them, but I don’t think it will make the slightest difference

Exchanges like Binance, Bybit and some other ones do not force people to verify but leave an option to withdraw all your coins  when they made KYC mandatory, but MEXC did not do like that but forcing customers.

But these days you cannot even create an account if you are not willing to do the KYC at Binance and other exchanges. Almost at every good and trusted centralized exchange, KYC is mandatory.

If we talk about MEXC, it isn't a trusted exchange, and there have been many issues being reported by different people. They are involved in selective scamming, and therefore, people are still using this service as not everyone is facing issues there. Last time, when i used MEXC i was able to withdraw without KYC and their policy hasn't changed yet. Maybe they wanted to scam you. Did you have a big amount deposited there?

I am automatically receiving email's notification on my phone on all my emails on the phone. I did not see such email from MEXC.

I have at least 5 MEXC accounts, but I did not see it on any of my email accounts.

This is one of the emails that I used to open the account on the exchange, see their messages up to 2025: https://ibb.co/Vpg2dhMY

You can see that there is no such message.

Hahaha Grin...I laughed because some people, for the fact that MEXC had not asked them to verify their account, think they can use it forever, and they would even say it is the best, just for that reason.

Notwithstanding, this is a reminder that centralised services like MEXC can do and undo, especially if you are earning so much with them. Even if it is not so much, if you are consistent with the earning, their system will detect you, and things like this will be meted at you.

This is why I complete my KYC immediately I open an account with any centralised establishment, because it may not be convenient when they later ask for it. And so long as they never advised no-KYC, they have every right to ask for it at any time.

Hahaha Grin...I laughed because some people, for the fact that MEXC had not asked them to verify their account, think they can use it forever, and they would even say it is the best, just for that reason.
How will someone think they can continue to use a centralized exchange forever without KYC when the exchange is centralized? There are regulatory presure as the exchange gets larger. But what I do not like is that the exchange did not change the account of people that do not verify to withdrawal only. Binance, Bybit, Kucoin and other exchanges gave warning of more than a month and that the accounts of those that do not get verified will change to withdrawal only.

This is why I complete my KYC immediately I open an account with any centralised establishment, because it may not be convenient when they later ask for it. And so long as they never advised no-KYC, they have every right to ask for it at any time.
I have the right document and it can not take me more than 2 minutes to submit it. I have many other exchanges, so it can not be inconvenient for me. It might not be convenient for people that have all their coins on a single exchange and not making use of noncustodial wallet which is a very bad thing.

I have at least 5 MEXC accounts, but I did not see it on any of my email accounts.
According to MEXC's terms, users are not allowed to have more than 2 accounts.

Quote
All Users must apply for an MEXC Account before using MEXC Services, and each User (including natural person, business or legal entity) may maintain a maximum of two Accounts at the same time

Maybe, you were caught having more than 2 accounts and that was why they asked you to verify your identity.
Did they ask you for KYC on all your accounts?

That's a bad idea to have multiple accounts on the exchange. I had a similar issue with OKX before; I had two accounts, but the first one I no longer have access to because I lost my phone number for recovering my email, and the second account, they only informed me about after I created a new account with them.
I did have 2 accounts, and they told me to merge my accounts because it is not allowed based on their terms.

Why didn't you use the sub-account instead since it is available rather than using multiple accounts?

This is one of the emails that I used to open the account on the exchange, see their messages up to 2025: https://ibb.co/Vpg2dhMY
You should at least open all emails; inbox labels don't always explicitly convey the intent. Before establishing mandatory KYC, a service typically starts by offering access to more comprehensive features or benefits , as if the user doesn't feel compelled.

Binance, Bybit, Kucoin and other exchanges gave warning of more than a month and that the accounts of those that do not get verified will change to withdrawal only.

We shouldn't be comparing exchanges like Binance or Bybit with MEXC. Binance and other reputable exchanges have very clear KYC policy, and there is no ambiguity, but when it comes to MEXC, they are somewhat suspicious. You never know when they may block you account for any reason and the easieist excuse could be to ask for KYC and rejecting it  Sad

I would suggest only deposit less amount at MEXC for trading so if something wrong happens, we do not lose our big amout.
