Bitcoin Still Only Real Crypto?

Hmm, this forum would always lean towards Bitcoin. I'm one of those members as well. There are reasons why this forum is called "bitcointalk", and you're posting about BTC. Of course, this would be a biased result. Not really neutral or whatever.

Anyway, there should be a distinction towards crypto. Because behind BTC, there's the blockchain, and that's how it's been able to be "Bitcoin". So in a way, are we talking about tech? Or Bitcoin itself?

The main reason why bitcoin is popular is because of its decentralised nature. Almost every alt coin available in crypto market is controlled by team or group of people. But nobody can control or manipulate the decentralised Bitcoin and this property has won the confidence of investors. There are alt coins available in the market that addresses the shortcomings of Bitcoin like scalability issue but they still fail to get even near to Bitcoin. The whole crypto market till date is controlled by Bitcoin alone and their is no alts that can take the place of Bitcoin.

What we should know is that in a family not everyone will be successful as others and this is the story of crypto currency. Crypto a family of coins which includes both Altcoins and Bitcoin, Bitcoin is today the most successful crypto currency because of the way that it was designed which today is behind its success. Yes it's true that altcoins has been associated with scam as criminal minded individuals has developed few altcoins to scam people but we should know that there are also other good altcoins projects but not as successful as Bitcoin.

The questions asked by the OP should indeed be asked in public forums or social media with a global reach,
so that it is not only in this forum that it is clearly focused on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is still the first from the beginning until now and that will not change, because Bitcoin's security with Decentralization is still maintained.

I also disagree with the generalization some people make that all altcoin are scam. Because, so far, quite a few altcoin have proven their value and role in the market.
We shouldnt deceive ourselves and make such biased judgments. That doesnt change the fact that altcoins still exist, people still use them, and some projects are actually creating value.

The cryptocurrency industry includes bitcoin and altcoins, with bitcoin considered the most reliable.

Depends on what you mean by crypto in this case. A coin that uses cryptography is crypto but this description is too simplistic and using this definiton will make tons of coins out there qualify as crypto.
If what you mean is a crypto that is decentralized with no premint and allocation for devs while still thriving then yes bitcoin is the only one, maybe some other coins will qualify but I only consider bitcoin as the only one that qualify.

This is why my portfolio mostly consisted of bitcoin. Holding bitcoin feels like holding gold because it's the real genuine one.

Cryptocurrency is just cryptocurrency

Bitcoin is just Bitcoin and there are differences between between and other cryptocurrencies.

Altcoins are just Altcoins, and there are also good Altcoins and there are other Altcoins that are shitcoins.

We have different Tokens, some of this Token when you invest in them are good and some Tokens are also bad.

But all you can do is being careful with what you’re doing.

Bitcoin is the leader of all the cryptocurrencies, bitcoin is overall.

You are right. BTC is not just a digital currency. BTC has now become a technology through which people are getting their economic freedom. When there was no other cryptocurrency after bitcoin was created, when cryptocurrency was only meant to be bitcoin. But now with all the other altcoins, this concept has changed. Your two sentences confuse me a lot, honestly, as there were some failed projects before Bitcoin and there have been many projects after Bitcoin. I disagree with you as "crypto was only meant to be bitcoin", that was not true in the past, before Bitcoin creation, after its creation, now and in the future too.

People who invest money in Bitcoin don't confuse Bitcoin with altcoins.

Coinmarketcap that is a big site in cryptocurrency industry does shit job by shilling many altcoin projects, including Bitcoin forks in a category "Bitcoin ecosystem".

Bitcoin remains the most trusted cryptocurrency ever created and has no rival in the present cryptocurrency market. There are many other cryptocurrency in the digital currency market and many have failed investors trust. Many times, I have invested in altcoins which later depreciated to zero leaving me in total loss. Many cryptocurrency are also pump and dump, there growth are influenced by celebrities and those who invest for long time are left incurring huge losses, because once the price pump's, they withdraw their funds, thereby crashing the price of the digital currency. I also agree with your opinion, as Bitcoin has become more well-known, and the term itself has become more familiar with the word Bitcoin without any other term. Because when we talk about crypto, there are so many types and varieties that it can't be directly limited to Bitcoin. Moreover, with so many altcoins appearing on the market, everyone should be able to differentiate between Bitcoin and altcoins, as they are fundamentally different from Bitcoin. However, there are still some beginners who are new to Bitcoin who don't consider the difference between altcoins and Bitcoin because they tend to think they are the same.

As far as I remember, BTC is BTC and crypto is crypto. However, many people equate BTC with crypto, even though I know the difference between BTC and crypto.

Altcoins are indeed becoming more and more common, and many people who buy altcoins lose money because they are different from BTC. So, in my opinion, Bitcoin is a good crypto. Altcoins clearly don't have a bright future because altcoins can be controlled by their creators, and their supply can sometimes be increased. So, my answer is that BTC is better than altcoins. There are certainly many victims of altcoins, while BTC has only a few victims, and those who are victims are those who don't understand BTC and don't hold BTC for the long term.

Seems that there are still 100s of new "projects" coming into the crypto space everyday. Almost all are just scams etc.
Seems all the crypto besides BTC has something shady behind it. Even for ETH has some shady happenings as well.

New coins are constantly being added to the market but they only pretend to be decentralized. Basically most of them are full of garbage. In the initial stage, you will be lured by promotions and the temptation of future price increases. After a while, the developers of those garbage coins strategically take their profits and the market cap decreases and the price starts to decrease. Gradually investors sell at a loss and face huge financial losses.

Bitcoin is actually a decentralized and a digital asset. Those who have analysis this asset have realized that it has a strong potential for high value in the future. I do not compare Bitcoin with any other coin although some call it cryptocurrency because they do not understand the difference but I call this valuable digital asset Bitcoin. And I consider Bitcoin as the best choice for investment.

Bitcoin will always be the best coin, and no any other coin can challenge it, bitcoin as make things easier then before when is not yet introduced. Many Cryptocurrency can just be trying to impress but bitcoin will always the king and you can have freedom over it and do anything you wish to do and no one can have control over it and that make it stronger and have value. Some are critics about bitcoin but nothing they can do about it just to talk and can change anything. If you've not started your bitcoin investment journey you're missing out, just try and get experience and knowledge in bitcoin and you will notice that bitcoin is real and he will continue be good for all crypto investors.

I think there are only 2 now.

1- Bitcoin (general use + store of value)
2- Monero (privacy)

Everything else is noise to me.

Sure there are doge and ltc where the tx fees are dirt cheap but that's all there is to them. You can pick either if/when the fees get too expensive on btc. I keep some monero to stay out of the government's reach, not because I got something to hide. It is because they got no right to see what I got.

Completely privacy is owned by Monero, but not many common uses are turning to Monero. I only use Bitcoin with a combination of Platform Mixer,
because I know that no matter how hard I work in the end my privacy will not be completely covered when it comes to the local Exchange and when I want to verify the BTC or the coin is owned,
everything is under the control of the government and they will always know.

Nothing is completely Privacy, everything will be recorded and who we really are.
Especially if you live in a country that will fully regulate how crypto transactions are conducted, there is no more wiggle room, everything will be supervised.

It’s not surprising to me that some people have said that Bitcoin is the only crypto that matters,  because Bitcoin has really proved itself for several years. Bitcoin has no central control,  and its rules do not change.  Bitcoin has truly survived everything the market has thrown at it. And that all is a reason to give it a level of trust no other crypto comes close to.

I would not say that all the other crypto projects are fake though. The real problem is how overcrowding the space has actually become,  and most of the new coins are just noise and they are only after quick profit. This is the reason people stay away from alt coins and view them with suspicion.

If I were to give an example of coins that are not to be viewed as shady,  I will talk about Ethereum. Yes, there are also some controversies surrounding Ethereum, but it has proven to people that it can be used for more than just making payments. I will continue to view Bitcoin as the safest, but not the only real crypto out there.

I have heard about Bitcoin and I have seen many testimony about what investors have achieved from Bitcoin that is making other investors to try Bitcoin investment. There are other real crypto people are making profit from but Bitcoin still remain the king of all crypto because it has attracted many nations than other cryptocurrencies.

It is not longer a doubt that bitcoin has really distinguished or marked it self to be different from other crypto currency. So  instead of saying that bitcoin is the only real crypto currency I would rather say that there is no crypto currency that can be compared to bitcoin. Bitcoin is different from crypto, creators sometimes with good intention try to copy bitcoin and end up with a wrong invention while other community intentionally create coins with zero potential at the end investors who invested end up with great loss of money. You need to understand bitcoin first before investing likewise every other crypto and it seems you’re misunderstanding both, I will advise you go for bitcoin as stated bitcoin is a true coin without fear of losing out definitely crypto still needs Bitcoin growth.
