This is the second case in a row in the same country, if I am not mistaken. This shows the gravity of gambling addiction because if he were not addicted, he would not have gambled all his money to the point of robbing a store to make sure he goes home with something to give his wife. Addiction is very destructive, and players should be aware of this so they do not make mistakes that would leave them regretting in their lifetime.

The wife did perfectly well in reporting him to the security agency for action, and I believe she must have advised him several times against his gambling habit, but he has paid a deaf ear to her, and this was the result of his addiction, as it has led him to crime.
This is definitely a case where gambling addiction has overshadowed rational thinking and perception and has influenced bad behavior in someone who should have known better because of the responsibility of marriage that has been trust upon the man in question.
The man already has the thought and eye of a criminal or a thief in this case, hence why he didn't hesitate to commit a crime to resolve his unquenched appetite for greed.
I wonder who he was more afraid of, his wife or the police, because he certainly showed he is more afraid of his wife and damn the consequences of his actions to the authorities.

You never can tell what it feels like for him in the course of taking care of his family, which must have prompted him to seek an extra source of income. He should not have gambled that much to the point of exhaustion because he knows he has a family to go back home to and provide for them. He allowed his emotions to overwhelm him while gambling, coupled with the fact that he already is an addict, and there was no way he could control himself from gambling that much, and it eventually consumed all he had made for the day, putting him in a mess.

In this case, he was not afraid of the police and law, he was afraid of the consequences of his actions in gambling away all he had made for the day and going back home empty handed so in other not to get his wife offended he had to look for alternative which possibly resulted to him robbing the store but unfortunaely for him the wife he thought could be his shield was the same person who betrayed him by reporting him to the police. She did well, but I believe it would have taken her courage to do so because he is her husband and it would be very difficult to make such a decision against him.

There is part of the story that sounds very funny and so much lessons too to learn from that part-The wife.

The man probably cared about his family especially the wife, and tried everything legal or illegal to provide for his wife at home. The same wife whose the husband is trying every possible way to provide for is leaking out the information to the security agency making it easy to get hold of her husband. Is she actually a good wife?

Do you think the man will take his wife back to his life if this man is been released and bailed out when it seems his wife betrayed him, if it were you, would you accept her back?
This is one of the stories that people hear and they don't want to have anything to do with gambling. I have been in a physical gambling place when a father and his relatives came inside and dragged the son out of the place. He was beaten mercilessly by his father. The boy was above gambling age, but his parents see gambling as an immoral behavior because of the lifestyle of some gambling addicts around the neighborhood.

I doubt if he would accept her back as his wife because he would have been expecting her to defend him. I guess the woman is fed up with his abnormal gambling behavior.

Another experienced robber is using gambling losses as an excuse to go back to his old ways. Let's assume he lost money that belongs to the wife or that's supposed to be used at home, which he's not supposed to have used in gambling in the first place.

Since fear of what his wife will say did not allow him to go home empty-handed, that same fear could have prevented him from gambling, but since it has already been done, why not borrow money from friends to pay back later instead of robbing a store? That comes to his mind. Some people just take advantage of a little sad situation they created themselves to unleash their true selves, and now gambling is part of the headline that will make the story trend.

This is another instance where a person does something bad because they lost all their money, and this is why it is extremely important to only gamble what you can afford to lose, so you won't be in a position where robbing someone crosses your mind because you lost all your money to gambling.
I will choose to believe that a thief is a thief and no excuse  given as to why one goes into stealing is ever a justifiable. There are several persons that have lost in the process of gambling and never resorted to stealing as a compensation for what they've lost in the process of gambling.

Someone can experience heart break and the next thing he does is killing multiple of people, do we now say that getting involved in relationship is bad?  The best thing to treat everything is to isolate them from another. A thief is a thief and doesn't need gambling to activate that stealing nature in him.

Indeed the wife made good decision, since this will put them on more bigger shameful situation if he will try to hide her husband after he made a crime.

That situation is great example that once they fall from addiction anything can happen, some people might do something terrible just like the person in the subject.

This remind us that we should not take gambling seriously like we think that it can give us good fortune, because if they exceed there's tendency that they might do crime out of desperation to get money to gamble back again.

This incident happened a few days ago in my country. According to the article, a man from the Philippines robbed a store after losing to an online game called Scatter. Apparently, the guy lost all his money(according to other articles in Tagalog) to an online game and was afraid he wouldn't be able to bring any money back to his wife, so he decided to rob a store. Luckily, no one was physically harmed, but the store clerk was shaken after the incident. At the end, the robber was arrested after his wife reported him to the authorities.
Another incident that will be blamed on gambling? Did you notice one minor detail: the man was afraid he wouldn't be able to pay his wife back? Why wasn't his wife the culprit who prompted this gambler to rob the store? Smiley

The ending is simply epic: his wife reported him to the police. Smiley He wasn't afraid of her for nothing. Smiley

This is another instance where a person does something bad because they lost all their money, and this is why it is extremely important to only gamble what you can afford to lose, so you won't be in a position where robbing someone crosses your mind because you lost all your money to gambling.
Read my version above of why this unlucky gambler did such a bad thing.

This is one of rue bad effect of gambling. And because of all these act, people see gambling as a bad thing. And telling their wards not to participate in gambling activities. But we thanks God that the wife reported him and finally he was arrested. This was bad act. I believed he has lost good amount of money in the gambling.

First, i respect the man's wife for reporting her husband to the authorities, which i believe will also help the man with the gambling addiction he's currently experiencing.
I hope the man is mature enough to welcome the positive things that will come out of what his wife did, because the man clearly has a gambling problem due to how he used the funds he cant afford to lose to try a game of chance where winning is not promised.

In the meantime, i hope the gamblers we have on here that are currently practicing the same way of gambling will stop before the losing streak pushes them into doing something they don't want to do.

Gambling irresponsibly is truly terrifying. Losing can sometimes cost more than just money, but also sanity. I can imagine a situation like the Philippines, where scatter gambling has become a mass addiction among young people. The root cause of crime stemming from gambling addiction is often reported in several Southeast Asian countries, many of which are poor.  In my country, the most common form is defrauding close relatives using health-related pretexts to gain sympathy and then borrowing large sums of money.

When I say that most of the people that gamble are doing it for money sake, some people will not believe. There are times I do see people that don't admit to be gambling for money are pretenders that doesn't want to admit to their urge for money but the real truth and motivation behind gambling is nothing but money and when it got too much on your head, you start to have desperation after staying up for long time you final give up and do things that are not worth it.

However, I don't believe only people that are poor gamble and some times it's not about economy. It's an individual thing. There are gamblers that has money, they are well to do but do you know that such people still go ahead to look for money to gamble and when they gamble, they don't use small money they use huge money and lost them and later regret. The reaction of a rich gambler that is addicted to gambling is worst than a poor person when you see them.

He gambled for money, I don't know why gamblers have refused to accept not to gamble for money because gambling wins are not guaranteed, instead gamble for the fun of it.

Since he knows he does not have enough money on him why gambling, he used the money he was suppose to care for the family to gamble and he lose and turned into a thief, stealing from shop.

This is a clear example that the person is very addicted to gambling which he needs help before it's too late .

There is no difference with this case, the same stealing for gambling.
Bank staff stole over $1 million

People are always desperate in gambling they are willing to do anything including high risks in order to get money back, not from casinos but their option is to find fast money by robbing, if they are addicted it is terrible where they don't think long about the consequences and finally end up in prison.

Cases like this are not only 1,2,3 even more that we know without being on the news, because he is not a responsible gambler so he is willing to do anything.

The method to make money in order to gamble being wrong, the person will get punished.

Most of us are familiar with certain people in casino trollboxes, trying to beg from other members or trying to catfish others. These are similar methods, they are addicted to the game and want the money to get the rush of gambling but dont have anything to spend right now, so they use other people's money to do so.

Do not forget that money is a fleeting thing, your name and reputation will stick to you for all your life.

I saw this news as well, and I'm thinking.
"How did the wife know that the money that he got came from the stolen money?"

I mean did the husband tell it to his wife hence, the wife telling it to the authorities? Or there are some who already posted it online, and since there's a CCTV on it, maybe the wife saw her husband's motorcycle that's why she said it to the authorities. Well, that doesn't matter anymore I guess because what matters is the fact that addicted gamblers are willing to do such crimes just for their own sake. No one's harmed physically, but imagine the emotional trauma that it caused towards the clerk. The trauma might will affect him mentally for a long period of time that's for sure.

It's easy to say "gambler what we can afford to lose", but the reality is that, it's hard to do it especially if you don't know how to accept losses. Majority of those who are doing such crimes like this are the ones that can't accept losing money, or in this case, he doesn't want to end up being scolded by his wife. Well, this is just one case, and I expect more in the future.

The wife is the real mvp here.

She doesn't tolerate his husband for doing this bad thing.

While the others might try to hide their husbands when they've heard of what they did but, this one never did that. Kudos to her.

It may be already too late for this guy, honestly. He ignored all signals of gambling addiction when he had the chance to change his destiny and become a better version of himself in the past, instead he became a thief our despair.
Who knows, perhaps he would get our of prison some day and turn his life around, quit gambling and crime altogether and go back to being the column which support a household, as any man is supposed to be for his family.

This is one of thousands of cases related to problem gambling which take place each year, most of them are not interesting enough to make it to news, like this one did.

At least, when we're losing. We just fine and don't rob store to get money to gamble with.

She just saved herself and her family of unforeseen threats from the actions of the husband, this isn't his first time of committing a crime like this one, and his wife must have warned him multiple times to stop shop lifting and gambling, his make shift for managing with his addictive lifestyle. The woman is probably tired and couldn't wait to relocate him to the authorities.

Another story that re-enforces why we should gamble only with money we can absolutely afford to lose, there is no way for us to be certain that we are going to win or not so to be on the safe side only gamble with your discretionary income, this way even if you lose you don't have to ever result to something like having to rob someone else just to be able to make ends meet at the end of the day, his wife's actions should also be commended, she did good evening though it probably wasn't easy for her.

Really hats off for her?

Lets start from the beginning. We are not 100% sure why dude started to gamble, but we do know he wanted to bring money (any money home), because "Worried that he would not be able to bring anything home to his wife". Might be an excuse only, but might be also that he carried about family or he was the only money source. Now what we get, wife helped to put him into jail. Solved issues with  husband who probably was addicted to gambling. But gained new issues - she now has to earn money herself. Or earn more if they both working, and not all expenses are on her.
