This incident happened a few days ago in my country. According to the article, a man from the Philippines robbed a store after losing to an online game called Scatter. Apparently, the guy lost all his money(according to other articles in Tagalog) to an online game and was afraid he wouldn't be able to bring any money back to his wife, so he decided to rob a store. Luckily, no one was physically harmed, but the store clerk was shaken after the incident. At the end, the robber was arrested after his wife reported him to the authorities.

This is another instance where a person does something bad because they lost all their money, and this is why it is extremely important to only gamble what you can afford to lose, so you won't be in a position where robbing someone crosses your mind because you lost all your money to gambling.

Such incidents occur because people gamble beyond their limits or beyond their means. Good point you have mentioned. If wife would have talked to husband and convince him to return stolen phone and money, and turned himself to police station, maybe he would end with fine + hours of public works + suspended sentence. But the way his case looks now, it is robbery + armer assault. Now all finances are on wife solely Btw, if this dude managed to borrow money or take out loans (because he is an addicted gambler), it might turn, that while he is in prison, his wife will have to repay them.

If situation comes into worst like this many would really think that gambling is bad activity. More crimes related to gambling addiction will force government to ban online gambling.

But its really good that government step up on this situation and have good gambling addiction educations or campaigns, so people will get aware on possible effect if they exceed on their limits while they are gambling.

Perhaps she was afraid for herself, that she would also be punished if she didn't report him and receive the same punishment for his mistake, or she thought that if she told the police right away, the punishment would be less. Or there's another option: she was so fed up with his games that she decided to turn him in to the police so she could move on without him, since she was so frustrated with the fact that he was already having problems with his games. This is not the first of it's kind for sure but its still feels so interesting to see that even in this 21st century, what happened several centuries ago is still happening today.

I've read a story of a man who lost all his money gambling in a physical casino since there were no online casino back then, he lost all his money, then walked out of that casino, but moments later, he came asking the casino to refund some of the money he lost to them but the management refused, he claimed he will bomb the casino if the money was not returned back to him and the management of the casino thought he was bluffing, the man went out again, then came back moments later, planted bomb at one side of the casino and blew it up 😂😂
He was later arrested but then, he did succeeded in blowing up the casino, thank God no one lost their live but few sustained little to medium injuries.

Clearly, he got to realize that he can't stop his pain by inflicting pains on other people, he was thoughtful of bringing something home, but going through this method, means he's been feeding his family for a long time using this an escape clause. Fortunately for the victim, and unfortunately for the criminal, he got caught up in the noose by the same woman he was trying to seduce in diffused ways, he could be more focused, at the very least, his work. The woman did a good job, she loves the husband very well, and from your context or perspective, the man indeed loves the wife to do a thing like that more often to avoid being scolded or looked down upon as an incapable man.

Why I'm I not surprised that it happened in the Philippines, I don't mean to stereotype any country though because bad things like this happens in every country but most of the time atrocities linked to gambling are usually heard in this country. It's best example hwo addiction can become a weapon for people from the 3rd world country who has low wages to gamble with. When someone gamble, then gets so hard by dopamine, then again he becomes a compulsive gambler that can lead him to the desperation in the need of money. that pressure is getting bigger when he has wife. So he's robbing a store as the output from the his compulsive gambling behavior.

Although he was robbing due to the needs of his family, but he should gamble responsibly. He should know he was not a guy with rich privilege that can waste as much money as he can for gamble. So he must take the consquence being jailed for several years. He deserves all of the blame.

Gambling addiction is a bitch right?
I’ve seen far worse cases where gamblers indulge is heinous and outrageous behaviors just to fuel their addiction. Like the news I saw sometime ago where a man resorted to kidnapping his own granddaughter and demanding for ransom, just so he could have some money to continue gambling after losing all the money he had with him. As long as gamblers can’t learn to control themselves, they’ll always end up doing stupid stuffs all in the name of getting money to gamble.

This is exactly what happens when a gambler believes he can do without discipline or self control. Addiction is very real and it is only addiction that can push people into indulging in such an act. Lol you’re asking if it was the store that sent him to gamble when he lost his money, you need to understand that at that point, nothing else matters but getting back his money. I believe that may have been money meant for a completely different purpose l, he got carried away and lost it all, and since there was no other money to even get the chance to chase his losses, he decided to go for what he felt was an easier alternative.

If that were to lead the government to ban online gambling, it would certainly be a good thing. However, in my community even though many people have already experienced the negative effects of excessive gambling the government remains indifferent. Although they claim that gambling is banned, it’s merely a slogan there are no follow up actions. But perhaps that’s because of the public’s lack of awareness regarding gambling many still view it as a quick way to get rich.

This is one of the common risks casinos face from customers. I feel every casino should have a trained security personnel who will be there to protect lives and opportunities. I have come across stories too on how customers were robbed after a huge victory in gambling.
