Both of these were expected for me. We all knew Spain is much better than that first game showed and I expected to see "angry" Spain killing it. Japan is for me one of the most underrated teams of the tournament. Really expect them to do well in all the games and Tunis with all those things happening in their team were perfect victims.

My team got extremely lucky with this one, just one more goal from Japan and we would have lost that question, and thanks to Netherlands for also not leaving any goals on the table. I thought it was a wrap after the 5-1 victory for Netherlands, I had no clue that Tunisia were just going to remain equally bad like the were in the first game.

Saw the highlights from Ecuador and Curaçao, and first, I have to praise the goalkeeper—he had a night that will be remembered in the World Cup record books. The way he managed to read the situation when Valencia came one-on-one with him was spectacular. And a few corner-kick saves showed cat-like reflexes. All in all, a masterpiece of goalkeeping.

Eloy Room's heroics were matched by Cape Verde's goalkeeper's outstanding performance as he kept out many of Ecuador's guesses.

However, it must be said that Belgium was lucky in the last match because if the goal had been offside then Belgium would have definitely lost this match and their dream of going to the next round of the World Cup would have ended here. Considering the other teams in the same group that Belgium is in, Belgium can be put a lot ahead because they are undoubtedly a big team in Europe but their performance in this World Cup is not proving them to be the best team. However, the good news for Belgium is that their last match is against New Zealand, the team that is performing the worst in this World Cup, so Belgium should definitely win at least against New Zealand. If Belgium can win against New Zealand, then their dream of going to the next round will survive to some extent because after Belgium's victory, everything will depend on the Iran vs Egypt match.

We were just as lucky honestly, I don't think Netherlands rightly wins so big, while Japan probably should have won bigger, if they scored 1 more goal this would have been a draw for us (as we won 1 and lost 1 on others), so everything went well and S.E.A. Agree about Japan, for me they're second black horses of tournament after Norway.
Don't know maybe I'm wrong, but I'm getting impression that there is more than usual good teams underperforming. Turkey, Uruguay, Belgium, Czechia, Ecuador. Yeah, it's not these teams who have potential to reach late stages of tournament, but I expected a bit better results that they have now.
Wasn't able to watch first game of Argentina because of time and missed Messi hattrick. So, can't wait to see how GOAT will perform against Austria.

Memory failing me, I felt like I responded to this already but whatever, ha! Did you watch the Japan games? I saw both and liked them a lot. Might be a trivial reason but one thing I loved was that lack of rolling-around fake-injury in the Japanese side. Reminds me of much better football flow matches we used to watch 20 years ago. Samurai aren't terribly skillful even if they are technically proficient but the spirit and verve in their game makes for very decent watching.

Fellas, some really crappy news. We did the 'recap' through AI - and it did everything well for the 1st round which we thoroughly checked.
For the 2nd round we ran the same prompt, and I personally rechecked a few matchups again - and they were correct.

What happened is that the recap matched the incorrect teams in groups B and C - so we have to redo it from the start. We will do it manually but that will mean that you kinda tracked the wrong matchups the whole time.
