I was going through the altcoins section and I saw a post about someone that pretended to be a newbie looking for help about how to send his fund on the Tron network using Trust wallet. Obviously this is a old scam pattern that have been in existence for long before now and there have been greedy people that have became victims of this type of scam due to the greed to obtain fund that are not their own by using the seed phrase posted to obtain the fund in the wallet.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5580597.msg66628882#msg66628882

There are different ways scammers are using to get people trapped through posting their secret seed phrases on public forums or social media to attract guests that don't know how the trick really works.

People need to understand the simple rules in cryptocurrency that will prevent them from getting scammed physically or online.
1. Anyone that ask for your seed phrase for any reason is a scam.
2. Posting of seed phrase on social media in the name of asking for help is a scam.
3. Clicking links online for crypto mining with high APY is a scam.
4. Anyone asking for help on how to send their coin from their wallet to another wallet showing you their seed phrase can also be a scam.

It is not that hard again to differentiate between a newbie and someone that is an expert trying to make you there victim. A lot of these scammers will claim they have no knowledge about cryptocurrency but it's a lie that is not hard to know. Do not fall for cheap scam because of greediness to get hold of a newbie that don't know how to send a coin out of their wallet, it's a known scam.

Scammers are upgrading their scamming skills from time to time, in order to keep up with advancing technology and also stay ahead of unsuspecting victims. This particular method of posting a fake seed phrase online has been around since, but it just became popular around 2023 to 2025, and it is now spreading fast.

People should be very careful on this forum and online generally, because not everyone who claims to be new to crypto is actually new to the space, majority are scammers who are trying to lure or trick people into something, so be guided, because no normal human being will post his or her seed phrase online for any reason.

It's not hard to detect a scam when you are dealing with scammers who are still stuck with the old ways without modernising them, but when those pros who take it as a job approach you, there is always something that they do that makes all their patterns look real without you suspecting them. We just have to be vigilant and reduce the level of greed we have, and it will limit the way we get exposed to scammers or even fall victim to scams.

Very old scam indeed this is during those early bitcoin days. Mind you this will be a correct seed phrase actually and you can recover the wallet but what is done is that it never has gas fee on it as such if a greedy person tries to actually adds a gas fee such that they can actually withdraw the coins there. Once the wallet gets the gas fee there is usually an already running bot on that wallet that actually beats the user to sending it out to the scammer address. It’s actually old but still effective one naive but greedy people. This is an upgrade to an address (watch only wallet) scam

That's always the problem for the greedy folks that's all out for quick offer, their is no way a normal minded persons will fall so quickly for some of those cheap scam strategies scammers normally put out. However, that pattern mentioned is no longer a news because even one of my guy fell for it and lost a roughly sum of about one thousand dollars. It's was sad because this is a guy that was just struggling to make out something from life but it was quiet unfortunate that such thing happens. However, they said experience is always a best teacher in life it's when you allow it to happen for the second time is when you need to put your head in check.

I saw the post few days ago and it was like someone who is exposing his secret keys but his intentions might not be good because even if he is a newbie but he is aware what happened when somebody made it public so I just they reason am say na person way really no waiting him they do. If you are someone who doesn't make haste on everything you will always see scamming when is coming, except is a friend that could ask you for a help to send out coin that will not be regarded as a scam but for somebody that charted you with all this key phrases they're the people who are roaming for victims.

Sometimes when you're playing online games or watching funny clips online you'll see pop up of fake giveaways for instance "congratulations you've won $200" that's one of the easiest way to scam greedy people and people still fall for it till date. I don't pay any attention to those kind of stuffs cause they're too good to be true.

Greed is what make some people fall victim to old scam tactics even after they've got the experience, at that point it would be termed foolishness cause they're of the chances of being scammed but still decide to take the risk. Just like the OP said, "someone that ask for your seed phrase doesn't have good intentions for you" but some people would still give it out cause of huge amount of money they're offered for a giveaway.

Na true say dis scamming strategy don de around for a while and I don hear about somebody experience for dis our local board about how scammers de take gas fee to de steal dem victims coins, di story wey di person post de very similar to wetin you talk here but I no remember di poster name. Dis type of scam na trap for a scammer to take scam a fellow scammer so as you want to steal di coin for di trap wallet you go lose your gas fee to di original scammer, so na scammer scam another scammer.

I de tell people say na mainly greedy people na im scammers de catch as victims, if you de aware of dem tactics and you no de greedy e go de very hard for scammers to scam you. Imagine somebody enter inside an open forum and just like dat e come expose im seed phrase, dat act alone na red flag to tell you say na scam, although ignorant people fit to share dem seed phrase online but na mostly scammers handwork. Make you no expect free money online whether na investment or e be like say person share personal details wey you go take steal dem money, make you carry for mind say most likely you fit to be a victim of scammers.

All I see is ignorance, almost all scam are easy to know as long as it is online. But some people do not learn about how to know scammers and hackers is the problem. Another one is that they are not updating themselves with new scam news. This forum and some crypto news are very helpful for this later part.

No one can deprive you of your knowledge you already gained, this is why it is most important that in cryptocurrency we have to be more sensitive about what we learn and also take serious every information gotten as important for our security and safety, we should also learn to maintain privacy because this goes a long way in protecting us and also ensures that we are not presented with vulnerability to those that are scamming others online, every information gotten is a plus bonus to us because we can't fall a victim of such attempt for scam.

Scammers are everywhere now, both in the crypto industry and on social media. Scammers are all around, and that is why we need to be careful and always try to stay updated. Once someone gets scammed using any tactic, it will likely be shared, or someone will talk about it. From there, people can become aware of it.The point is that if we lack knowledge, we are more likely to fall for these scams. These scammer tactics are old, but I believe they will still be useful to some newcomers who have just entered crypto investment. However, those who have been in the system for a long time may not fall for these tactics, because they are old strategies that scammers used in the past. For beginners, it is always important to learn how to provide proper security, especially when investing in Bitcoin. Some actions may not seem like big mistakes, but they can actually lead to the loss of crypto assets. Therefore, newbies need to be extra careful in the cryptocurrency industry.

Your seed phrase shouldn't be shown to anyone by all means and avoid to believe offers that are too good to be true. Don't store your seed phrase in your PC or in your phone because a third-party can see it or scammers can have access to it through malicious links sent to you.

Avoid being greedy, and don't try to play a smart move on someone because these are what can make you fall easily to scammers.

This could be out of ignorance attimes, not everyone that shows their seed phrase when they need help are actually  scammers but  90% are scammers these days , ruling out the 10% is actually appropriate.

It works on their target which are the greedy ones who think they can easily just get free money from a random  wallet they own not . They are using the greed as a bait and it will always work.

Those who are not aware of this type of scam are constantly falling for such scams. Those who are new to the forum and are new to investing in Bitcoin will easily believe it and fall victim to it. There are many scams happening now that no one can even catch. There is such a circle of scammers, they are a group where many people are involved in it. Some people fall into their trap, when they try to catch them, they deliberately bring danger to themselves. Do you know that there is also a fake forum in the name of our forum, where it is a scam from the beginning. Scammers will lure you in such a way that it will seem that they are your friend and they want you well, they want to benefit you. But the reality is that their intention is to harm you, to take your wallet.

They lure you in many ways, a few days ago I received an email, where they said that there was some kind of problem with my account, and they asked me to solve it. They also try in different ways. We should therefore keep ourselves as safe as possible and be wary of such scams.

It's only a greedy person or probably a criminal that will fall for this cheap scam that has been in existence since many years now. Who doesn't know that it is risky to reveal their seed phrase on the internet, it's very clear that they just want to scam people who are inexperienced about this type of scam method. But why did the moderators still leave the post without deleting it, they used to delete this type of post as soon as they are made.

I think it is very important for anybody who has invested in Bitcoin to always read through scam cases and patterns because knowing the pattern that scammers take would help you prevent being a victim to such scams. It is not just new cases that you need to pay attention to. e get some kind old cases wey you suppose know becasue scammers sabi recyle scam technique, and use am well well until dem fit catch victim. E go make sense say you fit know the past cases as you dey keep up with current cases.

4. Anyone asking for help on how to send their coin from their wallet to another wallet showing you their seed phrase can also be a scam.
I understand that some scammers also disguises in the vulnerable just to attract people especially the greeds attentions on themselves and uses the avenue to strategically reacts to be ahead of those coming to help them.

Some don't publicly expose the seed phrases but will let the audiences know that they are willing to send the seed phrase in PM for any willing helper so that that they can get access to the wallet in order to proceed with the transactions.

Those who also like to play fast fingers will fall victims to this scamming scheme if not being careful. Of course such is one of the mysterious stories we reads in the forum where a scammer got scammed by another scammer.

Don't also be surprised that some of them who actually makes such appeal online in regards of how to use the crypto wallets are genuine but acting out of ignorant. Some also don't know the risk of revealing their seed phrase to third parties of which such users also gets wiped out of their crypto funds if they meet the wrong persons.

The way scam is evolving these days is not a surprise to me because I have seen the way young youths that are supposed to face their studies are buying looking for how to carry out scam attempt against their victims.
This is not about the government anymore and it's about personal up bringing by parents. Some parents will never question their offsprings how they were able to afford such car and luxury and what most really care about is to enjoy the money with their offsprings...scam money for crying out loud!

Scam is evolving very fast and with the help of artificial intelligence, this is making work much more easier for these thieves walking around the internet looking for whom to scam with their obvious scamming tools that are well know by people that must have been  victims or had about it through magazines, stories and other ways.

This scam is honestly older than some people in crypto, but it still works because the moment people smell free money, their brain just switches off. You see a seed phrase posted publicly and instead of thinking “this is obviously a trap,” some people start thinking “wait… what if I’m the lucky one?” 😂, meanwhile that’s exactly what the scammer is counting on. That wallet you’re seeing, is not just some forgotten treasure, It’s basically a fishing hook to lure you. The coins inside are just there for decoration, the real game starts when you try to move them and realize you need gas fees. The second you send anything in… boom, it’s gone. Faster than your network confirmation.
And that whole “I’m new, please help me” story? Come on bro!, no real newbie just drops their seed phrase like it’s their WiFi password and then disappears. If anything, a real beginner is overprotective of it, not sharing it with the whole internet. The funniest part is the victim usually feels like the smartest guy in the room at first. Like they’ve found some hidden loophole to outplay the system, meanwhile the scammer is just chilling, watching notifications, waiting for that one person to send gas like gotcha! 😅
At the end of the day, it’s really simple, if you didn’t create the wallet, didn’t secure the seed phrase, and you’re being asked to send money first, you’re not about to win,I can’t tell you for free that you’re about to donate 😂
This whole thing doesn’t even rely on tech anymore, now it runs purely on human greed. Control that, and you automatically avoid 90% of these scams.

The accuracy and truth in this post is spot on and it is only oldies who are greedy and the newbies who don't care for the basic knowledge of risk management that mostly fall for this kind of scam. Desperation can make people do silly things and that's why the tips Op gave makes a whole bunch of sense to begin with.

Am not a professional as regards the crypto currency market nor do I have all the knowledge but I can surely say that it is a scam when someone asks for help with keys.
It is better to use another different wallet from your main one when trying to test out a new DApp or a high APY mining site.
Always use a hardware wallet to store your coins, and only use your hit wallet when you intend to trade immediately or transfer funds.
Ultimately, don't trust any dms on your social media account requesting for any help in such manner.
