This is weird.
I am using on Chrome and Safari correctly.
Which setup are you using?
In any case, you can switch the feature off in the setting panel.

I'm using Chrome browser, I try it with my laptop, desktop and mobile phone everywhere the same problem.     
in dark mode, when i visit one or two post it shade whole page. btw did you try reinstalling it from the link you provide after updating it?

I am currently away from my machinery and I am not able to fix it.
After a long week away, I will be back on my Fillippone cave tomorrow.
It will be one of the first things I will try to address.

- Made the settings button open reliably on the first click/tap by handling the initial pointer interaction directly, while keeping click fallback behavior for keyboard and accessibility flows.
- Prevented the settings icon SVG from intercepting pointer events, improving hit-target consistency.
- Reworked read-post shading so read posts are muted with a whole-post overlay instead of only changing selected text or cell backgrounds.
- Applied the read-post overlay consistently across light and dark themes while keeping links and controls clickable.

This should fix the "read messages" features.
it is quite "aggressive" on the layout. Tell me if you like it!

I installed it in my browser, and I think it looks better now.
But I noticed that if I visit a page and revisit the same page again, the posts are grayed out even though I did not scroll the entire page.

installed now, I really don't like the shadow in the posts already read, it makes them completely unreadable in the dark version
I think I'll downgrade to the previous version
Maybe it's a good idea to add an enable/disable option for this feature which I find a bit disturbing to the eyes.

I have been playing a lot with this feature, and it is difficult to find the right way. I will keep working on it.
What you can surely do is to turn it off on the settings panel, where there is a toggle you can use to activate/disactivate this function.

Anyway, I don't see the shadowing script unusable at all: this is how it render a read post on the black theme:



I think it is decent. Don'y you agree?

Anyway, the "Read Shading" toggle is what you need:

I am happy you are satisfied with the product now, but pleas you guys keep sending suggestions, as I have many token to be spent on this little project.
Also, I am now writing  on an airport and I am really glad I can disguise the classical  theme in an anonymous black screen, even if the orange lines could spell something...

Since you have abundance of token and asking for it eagerly , can you please add a "Pitch Black" theme if possible. It's not any dark or black theme that we use regularly. It's the darkest of darkest, pure black.

I use this theme on my mobile. And if you have an OLED/AMOLED display/monitor, you are saving a lot of electricity/battery through it.

Just to make sure I am able to properly communicate all the feature already present in this theme: you can customise the colours on the settings toggle. Just pick the main colour and the accent (maybe as both black to form a “pitch black” theme). If you select those colour should pop up as default next time you use the extension.

Maybe I did something wrong, I donno!
I tried to customize it btw, following the color combo which Google provided,
but some parts still had that charcoal color palette (maybe that's to separate certain parts of the forum).

I've been using And applying this Script for my Mozila Firefox Browser, so far it's running normally and some of the looks are quite I like like the light Classic ( default ) display with a blue color that is quite soft and makes my eyes comfortable.
There is only one thing I want to say, about the Toogle Settings in the upper corner, whether it cannot be set to follow the Scroll downwards, because when the scrolling is at the very bottom I still have to scroll far up to reach the Toogle Setting.
Maybe the position can be made Flexible.

This is a nice idea, I will try to implement it in the next release.
It shouldn't be too difficult.
