I once lost everything to greed, anxiety and uncertainty. My crypto journey began sometime around 2020, back then I was very optimistic and ready to jump into any investment opportunity that comes my way. In 2021 I got my first surprise.

What happened was i entertained a complete stranger on my telegram channel. The fellow first got me to trust her and in the process introduced me to a scheme. The tone of assurance was so strong that I fell for it.

Funny enough the tried to get my full trust by giving me rewards every day for staking my coin on their mining platform. And after two weeks I woke up to see my wallet has been cleared. Both the rewards and my personal coin all gone

It drained me and kept me low for quite a long period. I didn't know where to start from and I was even confused on how to explain this to someone else. It took me a long time to put myself back together.

Then in 2024 I tried building back. It wasn't easy from the start but I kept up with consistency. Although I don't have as much as I had back in 2020 but I am glad I am able to stay committed no matter how small the growth seems.

My point here is starting all-over is better than staying off completely. It's better to have slow growth than taking no action at all

Making mistakes is one part, but admitting to yourself that you were wrong is another part which many new investors continues to fail. What you should understand is that there's no one above mistakes. You may feel at some point that you are doing it right and just taking the normal risk, but not until it's too late you may not realise that you are going to the wrong direction. What makes it even more critical is the fact that in crypto when your coins are lost, there's little to no chance of recovering them. Scammers these days are becoming even smarter than they used to and even if you wish to by any means track them down, there's still a low chance you will succeed plus the money which would be required to hire such services would be almost equivalent to what you've lost.

More funny is that this classic method is still applicable nowadays and victims still fall with the cloud mining concept of scam. I wouldn't blame you as newbie who doesn't know about mining real process, but I can blame you for not doing researches. Back to 2020, there were a giant documentation explaining how cloud mining is an illusion that could never be something but a scam.

My point here is starting all-over is better than staying off completely. It's better to have slow growth than taking no action at all

Stop in your life at some points of failure means dying while alive. The motivated hope is that someone can always restart from level zero at any stage and at any time.

You made a small mistake that cost you most of your money, and it took you 4 years to start again. You must have lost a lot. I also lost once; their technique was the same. They give you some profit first as bait, and you start to think they are real, but the part where you said it feels very reassuring after reading their messages is really true.

I also sometimes check their messages on Telegram. My purpose is not to make any deals with them, but I talk as if I am a newbie who has no idea about crypto. They start giving real-time answers, and if a beginner ever listens to them, they can easily be manipulated by receiving misleading guidance, which makes them keep coming back. They know very well what to say and how to sell it. Anyway, we should always avoid them and not talk to them, even for fun.

I think the OP perfectly explains why he didn’t do that research, he was greedy and that’s all what it takes for any scammer to have their way to get into the head of their potential victim, no matter the amount of research they do that greed will most definitely cloud their emotions, it’s one of the biggest weapons or asset that a scammer has. If he wasn’t greedy even without doing those research he would have found out that the whole thing was scammed or would have been sacred to actually trust anyone from the social media.

First point of falling victim of anything is the greedy zeal of the victim to make money quick and that’s why the scammers usually capitalize on. That’s why even very old tricks still do work up till today. Sadly OP learnt and started over which might have helped in this journey.

If you haven't made any mistakes in life as a person it means you haven't tried anything new, we learn from our mistakes and it makes us wiser. Sorry for how things went with you but we all need to learn from someone's else's mistakes and from all you said I think it needs to be channelled to those who thinks investing in Bitcoin is the fastest way to make it big, just because it works for me doesn't mean that is how it will work for you, we always tell ourselves that if we're faster that we can get it right, no...it only brings mistakes and regrets. Going through rough times is not an excuse for any of us to give up, the way you built yourself shows that you hardly give up, believing that you can get to where you were before is what kept you going. I still believe that slow and steady does it better, you have a target and you must surely get it right this time.

I don’t even believe that there is a concept like starting all over again. Like going back to zero- no.
You starting from where you are , the lessons, the knowledge, the resources you have been exposed despite the loss or setbacks. You can’t go back and start from the beginning but can you have you have gotten to grow from there. That’s how my bitcoin and crypto journey has been.

What happened to you is not peculiar to cryptocurrency, except that yours is linked to cryptocurrency. People have been swindled through that scheme for decades, which is why we all have to be careful. I wonder how you still fall victim to such deceit though, especially in this 21st century; people have moved past that scheme, for it is outdated.

My point here is starting all-over is better than staying off completely. It's better to have slow growth than taking no action at all
It sounds motivating to start all over again, but the question is: Have you learned from your mistakes? Have you also learned cryptocurrency itself, and not some kind of junkies?

Not only from Telegram but on other social media and messenger platforms like Discord, Whatsapp, X or Facebook. If you received DMs froms strangers, be very careful, and if such DMs come with very good offers, and things related to money, private keys, wallet seeds, it's strong red flag. You don't need to interact further with such strangers, let's block their accounts immediately.

The advice is when you already interacted with strangers and links in their DMs, but the best and safest action is ignoring them since the beginning. Don't click on any links sent to you by strangers on any platform.

Also let's be aware of impersonators.
Discord & scammers. Check user IDs and user colors of strangers send you PMs

Start with what you have done before but avoid what harms you. Nowadays there are many service providers, but trusting yourself is the best thing. Everyone who does not want to try after failing is a foolish person, but someone who tries only once is afraid. But if they have tried many times, failed, and stopped, that is rational. Because I understand that people have certain skills that they possess. But the main source is the intention of how willing they are to make an effort. I understand that the factor of desire is the main issue in trying. Because indeed, I have tried to understand a friend of mine who gave up after only one attempt. It seems he does not want to take risks with his loss. Indeed, people's mental conditions are different, we can guide and support, but they are the ones who act. When you are interested, then do it. Past mistakes should be used as momentum not to repeat them. Next, you should be careful.

Coming from personal experience, failing and accepting that you failed won't bring the end to failure in one's life, failure is just part of life and it teaches us something every time it happens, yet another failure is waiting somewhere in the future, it is better to accept that failure is part of life than trying so hard not to fail another time.

I can't even count how many times I have failed after accepting that I failed, when it becomes not bothering or life threatening to you then failure will start fearing you, because you aren't scared of it.

Commitment is the thing you must have to start over and if you have a bad experience before and fail, you should believes that your falls is the process and you should rise and start over. Many people have the same bad experiences but the different is they can start over and not give up. They still believes they can achieve their goals and this time they have more things to do.

Don't tempting with the offers you get from social media because that is not always right. Most of them just invite new people to join but they don't know if the offers will success or not. We need to be wise and not in a hurry join with them but research is the key before we decide.

OP, I'm sorry about what happened to you.
Unfortunately, most of us have no experience with financial investments and therefore there is always a risk of becoming a victim of financial fraud.
Such news is so common in the media in my country that many people, when crypto is mentioned, immediately associate it with criminal activities.
Of course, this is not true, but each of us must learn how to protect ourselves from fraud, but also how to invest correctly, understand the crypto market and analyze it properly, etc.
These are not things that are taught in school, but part of the so-called "school of life".  Grin

Building after a scam is literally not always easy, but moreover it's always the only option one has in other to get back on track, because it's just saw that newbies have always been the primary target of both online and crypto scams, and many people fell victim to it, likewise myself many years ago when I ran into many Telegram investment scams which I lost my money. So as long as we are alive and breathing, we should definitely never be scared of starting all over again and again. So I'm happy you got back on track at O.P and I hope you never too trust anyone you meet randomly online, because just as a few may be genuine, majority are scams.

When you see someone who have been scammed 10x times in the past and they are still grinding hard you know that nothing can stop such person again, the result is been able to stand up again after every fall, this is what makes a man.

If yo haven't got to the stage where failure is a norm to you then there is much more that you have to do, because you are not trying enough,, failure makes people quit and run away and that's why success is only for a few set of people.

I've been through everything that you have been through OP, don't let it bother you as it's already in the past now, it's hard to stand up after you get scammed or lose money but unfortunately this is the only way to be different and strong.

Sincerely, it isn't easy at all. In the crypto space, it's just risk all day long, and if you happen to come out not scammed, then you learnt well and we're very careful too, but if you fell, then you take it as a lesson, stand up, dust your ass and move on.

I just want to hold onto the fact that everything that happens should be a live lesson. While it is very painful that you lost a lot of funds, for some, there life savings in crypto, some there investment, and they want to take there lives due to frustrating situation, but we know that there is nothing compared to life, and he that's still alive has a lot of hopes. So I think moving on is always the best. After the break, thinking and rethinking, if you are still interested, you can still come onboard, gather bit by bit, and with the hard lesson you have learnt previously, you will guide your coins jealously

I believe that OP is talking to me, directly, because I lost a lot of money and I still somehow blame myself to it because my present condition is not that good, if I had the money I lost I won't be facing it right now.

I have to move on with time but it's not good enough, I also suspect that things always get out of plan whenever I plan to chase and get it, but many people are facing the same thing.

What is gone is gone but it's a lie if I tell you that I've moved on, and it's not helpful that I still feel the pain either but moving on is just tougher for me, I hope that with time I am able to move on and forget it.

This is what I'm saying never trust anyone who just message you via telegram, this people are experts on tricking people, never talk to them or you will be hook and sometime you will follow what they are saying, they will even tell you to deposit money on the same account or crypto wallet, my friend convince by the scammer but the good thing is he was able to get the money back, because he was able to trick the scammer that he will make another deposit bigger and the scammer agree the funny thing is she is also seducing my friend which is make him think is wrong.

It is a very sad experience, but in life we learn every day, and learning from your own experiences is the best lesson that you can never forget or make the same mistake again. It is certain that one will definitely make mistakes, but don't let your mistakes cause you to give up because this is not the best option.

Life is all about trial and error; when you fail, you still have a good chance of succeeding at any time. It is very common for beginners to fall victim in the bitcoin and cryptocurrency journey; that is why it is very important for beginners to take their time to gain knowledge first instead of going for profit. Knowledge is what will keep you going, but when you are ignorant, scammers will use it against you to steal from you.

There is more than one moral lesson from this story. The one I want to focus on is not to trust anybody, more especially strangers. Nobody gives things for free. Nobody gives offers that they would be on the losing end. There are no "good/fair people" who are just fair to random strangers out of the goodness of their hearts. When people come with those kinds of offers, be very sceptical because 9.9 times out of 10, it is a scam. It doesn't matter if they give you something first. They may be doing a pig butchery on you.

This is how Ponzi schemes work. they pay the first set of people and those people invite their friends and loved ones, and it keeps going on untile they have had the desired amunt they want so they take everything and lock shop.
Nobody gets rich by giving out free gifts. When a person is giving out free gift taht will cost them somthing, best believe there is a high chance that that person is getting or will get soething more valuable in return.
