Are you ready to hang a target on yourself for $20-30 (trezor won’t pay you, but you will)?

New products have appeared in the "Merchandise & more" section of the trezor store (manufacturer of hardware wallets).

At first glance, the lock-shaped logo is unremarkable and unremarkable, but those who recognize the logo of the hardware wallets manufacturer will immediately understand that they are looking at a "walking wallet", with all the ensuing consequences for the owner of the T-shirt.

"Designed by Trezor." - I decided to slightly refine their design to fit the spirit of the times (you haven't forgotten how many incidents have already occurred with bitcoiners in France since the beginning of the year, have you?).
"Inspired by the community." - If I am part of the community, then I will show Trezor how to be inspired. Smiley
"These Trezor-made items bring the brand to life offline." - but kill their owners (sorry for the dark humor. But that's exactly what awaits the unwary who wear T-shirts with such designs. Such are the times we live in).

I consider this T‑shirt the bad joke from Trezor. Wearing it could attract bottom‑feeders to your crypto. The reality around us always reminds that keeping the low profile when it comes to anything related to crypto is the best approach. I think there’s no need to mention what has happened to people who didn’t follow this rule.

I went to check it out to see if it was true, haha  Cheesy
Here’s the link: https://trezor.io/black-trezor-t-shirt-l

I wouldn’t have the courage to use it here in Brazil, even though the logo is pretty subtle, a crypto user would probably recognize it
Criminals here are pretty tech-savvy when it comes to crypto, so it’s an unnecessary risk, at least for me

If they gave it away as a freebie with a purchase, I might wear it to stay home

Dude...it's not like they are selling merchandise with huge BITCOIN logo, it's just discrete Trezor safe logo.
I am certainly not going to waste money on buying this t-shirts or similar products,
but I have several advertising shirts I got for free and that doesn't mean I drive latest Lamborghini or Mercedes.
I know for a fact crypto brands are giving away free merch all the time on meetings and conventions.

Dude...it's not like they are selling merchandise with huge BITCOIN logo,
By the way, such merch also exists. It's on sale.

The funny thing here is that trezor, more than anyone else, should be aware of the need for safe storage of crypto and the associated risks of advertising the ownership of it but for the sake of advertising his product, trezor is ready to neglect this.

it's just discrete Trezor safe logo.
But anyone who recognizes this logo will clearly understand that "the wearer of this T-shirt" knows something about hardware wallets, and therefore about the crypto, which indirectly creates a threat to the owner of the T-shirt.

I am certainly not going to waste money on buying this t-shirts or similar products,
but I have several advertising shirts I got for free and that doesn't mean I drive latest Lamborghini or Mercedes.
I understand and accept your arguments, but I think there is no point in attracting unnecessary attention when don't have to.

I know for a fact crypto brands are giving away free merch all the time on meetings and conventions.
But Trezor doesn't distribute it this way, meaning the owner of the trezor t-shirt didn't get it for free.

This doesn't mean a "hunt" will begin for all owners of similar t-shirts, but it could generate unnecessary attention. Is this what you need? Considering the increasing attention criminals are paying to cryptocurrency holders.

Depending on the country you are living in, using a crypto related logo in your t-shirt is just dumb. You become a target for thieves, basically for nothing.

In Brazil it is really not safe to use anything that would advertise crypto or bitcoin or exchanges or whatever.

I don't think people will think you are rich. They will just think that you have a good amount of money to be easily stolen

I am not confident wearing T-shirt which any crypto logo. I don't want people know and guess that I have relation to crypto because that can makes me to be the target by bad guys.

Even that T-shirts cheap, I don't want to wear it at public. I can wear others T-shirts so I can choose them.

The risk is not worth with the thing that I might get.

Are you ready to hang a target on yourself for $20-30 (trezor won’t pay you, but you will)?
~snip~

Where do you think they got the idea from? Ledger did similar nonsense about 6 years ago, and that's what happens when you want to make a little more money by selling something that has nothing to do with your main product. Unless you're going to a cryptocurrency meeting/convention, I don't see where else in public it would make sense to wear such clothes.

I now still have a t-shirt with the bitcoin logo and use it in crowded places, I don't know if it attracts the attention of especially thieves, but for several years using it there is no problem.

It really depends on where you live, how safe the area continues to be from criminal acts, because I am in Indonesia there is still no case where crypto theft to the person directly so it can be said that it is still safe.

Still, I myself am always vigilant after seeing a lot of news about crypto theft, because the group knows their target has a lot of assets.
Now it's better to keep quiet and maintain privacy, so that people don't trust us too much.

What I’ve noticed when people talk about crypto in Brazil (it’s probably similar elsewhere)

When someone finds out you have some BTC, they assume you have at least 1 BTC, and they think you have the full value of a BTC, or even more
A lot of people still don’t even know that BTC is divisible

A criminal who understands crypto knows this, but Brazil is quite dangerous in this regard
I'm always careful about people knowing that I have crypto

That’s why many of us are afraid to wear a crypto T-shirt, for example

Some people just love merch and I don't think that Trezor or other companies would offer merch if there were no demand. Is it wise? Well, I don't think so. Such merch should come with a disclaimer that you potentially endanger yourself.

Is it a good idea to wear such merch in public? I don't think so, too, because you shouldn't do this if you want to have and keep a low crypto coin profile.

Even e.g. a mug with crypto related text and/or symbols, intended to be used only at home, could compromise your low profile. Do you really pay attention to hide your mug when you have guests, when you throw a party with lots of people, when some of your friends brings someone with them you don't know yet?

Keep your crypto coin involvement private or even hidden. It's better that way than going public and painting a target on yourself.

I prefer not to wear anything bitcoin and crypto related either. I don't even like carrying my hardware wallets in public. I don't need the attention and never craved it. Wearing a t-shirt with a Trezor logo or a logo of a similar brand isn't a dead giveaway that you own cryptocurrencies but it can create suspicion in people. You are not going to find that merchandise in stores around you. Therefore, their owners probably have a reason why they wear them.

Are you ready to hang a target on yourself for $20-30 (trezor won’t pay you, but you will)?
Hell no! To make matters worse, there's always the possibility of someone ordering such stuff [especially the sweatshirt] as a gift for another person that has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies and in the unfortunate event of becoming a victim, they probably wouldn't be able to convince the thieves that they know nothing about bitcoin & cryptocurrencies.

  • "Inspired by the community." - If I am part of the community, then I will show Trezor how to be inspired. Smiley
Not sure which community they're referring to, but I'm pretty sure most Trezor owners are smarter than that.
    - FWIW, I hope recently, they haven't hired anyone from Ledger!
