FIFA 26 as Football World Cup that takes place this summer?
I don't get it, how is it supposed to help Lightning adoption?
It's gonna take place in the US, Canada and Mexico. All three have more than enough FX infrastructure especially for USD so there won't be any problem exchanging currency.

I don't get it, how is it supposed to help Lightning adoption?
It's gonna take place in the US, Canada and Mexico. All three have more than enough FX infrastructure especially for USD so there won't be any problem exchanging currency.

Yes it's for this summer ... And i know the 3 Hosts already are  lands of Crypto ...

Perhaps you are referring to some news that has been published and that I have not yet heard, but what does the World Cup have to do with Lightning Network? Maybe if you simply mentioned Bitcoin I'd understand it better, but you mentioned LN specifically. You mean foreign fans who travel to host countries and use it for small payments?

My point is that WC2026 is the ultimate real-world stress test for Lightning.

If you’re a fan coming from a place with high capital restrictions, carrying cash is a risky ....... banks will probably flag your card if you are trying to buy in Mexico or the Canada.

A bad idea is to buy mexican Taccos due to lack of time and buyer has not the obligation to wait for 3 transaction confirmation

If you want this world cup to be a stress test event, the first requirement is majority of users and merchants would use LN. Isn't achieving that a bit of a problem in the first place? Even if banks would flag your card for whatever reason, there might be other options such as using stablecoins if we're forcing it strictly to crypto. Not to mention there's a chance traditional finance market would just adapt and handle transactions differently.
