So I am a trezor guy

The trezor safe 7 wallet for bit coin only.

why should I get it,

vs why should not I get it.

Assumptions .

I have more than 2,000usd  worth of btc lets say I have at least 0.05btc

So spending 259usd to buy it is fine by me.

I will use washers on a bolt to back it up

I will place washers in a safe deposit box

The plus for me is organized BTC fully separated from other shit coins.

The plus for me is BTc is most my crypto

The plus for me is the btc should be quantum safe.

The minus it has a battery that could leak and fail
I prefer wired only gear over wireless.

pros and cons for getting it please.

cost is not a pro or a con.

Pros;
it’s new model and has more protection overall.

Cons:
Its not in my opinion, a very long term solution with the touch screen size, it seem more like they are for more frequent use unlike the ideal safe and keep for away until when next you want to check it. The screen size the way it’s being presented is like a flex feature.

Wireless means Bluetooth connection, I am then poisoned to asked how much safe is Bluetooth connection safe from being bridged?

my fear is blue tooth

I love my trezor 1

I love my trezor t

I like the idea of the safe 7 latest model but I have zero need for blue tooth

so I am hesitant to get a trezor with a feature I do not use.

I like the large size screen due to older eyes.  I really wish they sold it without blue tooth.

edit:

I can disable bluetooth and use the cable only much more to my liking.

And I got the trezor safe 5

I looked at the 7 a lot but I have zero need for blue tooth and portability.

Also the fact it has a lithium battery means it could fail and destroy the unit.

So I can't store it in a safe deposit box.

the safe 5 is the safe size as my model t

I got the bitcoin only version I will use this for short term liquid btc only.

I will set up my mining address in 1 wallet

I will set up my signature address in a second wallet.

I will back it up with stainless stainless steel 20 word or maybe 24 word

You probably have way more than $2000 in btc. So it is totally worth investing a little in your security
I don't want to lecture you on manners, but it's considered bad manners to look into someone else's wallet (even if it's publicly available on the blockchain). Smiley

What could be more prudent than sacrificing a small portion of your assets (for safekeeping) in order to preserve the rest? Therefore, I believe that investing in security (the safety of assets) always pays off handsomely.

The price of 259 usd is worth the peace of mind, that you will.know you are 100% safe.
Well, I don't think you can be 100% safe. Therefore, you need to diversify, specifically, buy several devices. I don't think everything costs $259, because that would be a waste.

You can also try other wallet such as blockstream jade... but i think trezor is the best. You can get the cheapest  model available
Most of crypto assets is stored on safe7, a small part - on cheaper and simpler trezor models (those without Dual Secure Element architecture and Next-gen TROPIC01 secure chip).

pros and cons for getting it please.

Pros: Improved protection.

Cons: bluetooth and battery.

For the sake of increased security, you are prepared to accept a potential vulnerability with bluetooth (I doubt, of course, that having bluetooth turned off in your safe will pose a threat to the safety of your coins) and the risk of physical self-destruction of this hardware wallet due to a flaming battery (the likelihood of this is also extremely low, and after all, you have a seed phrase for backup recovery - I hope not in the same safe).

Specifically designed to receive quantum-secure updates
Quantum-ready security - and this point in the description of safe7 looks to me like a clever marketing ploy, manipulating the current fears of bitcoiners about the threat of a quantum computer (by the way, which doesn't a threat at the moment).

I am not somebody who is changing up wallets very frequently so I don’t have much to compare to. Trezor has always been reliable for me and that’s the brand I will keep buying. I’ve used the Trezor Safe 5 for thousands of transactions and it still works perfectly. If you’re using it for Bitcoin only, I assume you won’t be needing to sign that many transactions.

The Safe 5 was a solid choice if you don’t have a need for the newer model’s extra features.

I will lecture you manners then: read before writing.

he said he has about $2000. No wallet was mentioned to look into. My assumption is based on the age of his account.

Well, I don't think you can be 100% safe. Therefore, you need to diversify, specifically, buy several devices. I don't think everything costs $259, because that would be a waste.

You don't need several devices. That is a waste of money.

You can create several wallets in the same device if you want, but that doesn't increase your security.

And yes, trezor models are 100% safe. Nobody ever hacked them in like 13 years.

And I got the trezor safe 5

I looked at the 7 a lot but I have zero need for blue tooth and portability.

Also the fact it has a lithium battery means it could fail and destroy the unit.

You can create several wallets inside the same device

I have more than 2,000usd  worth of btc lets say I have at least 0.05btc

More is the key word here.

If it means at least no fewer than 50 times, then buying Trezor 7 would make sense to me. Otherwise, one could easily find the cheaper solution. Needless to say, this is just my personal view.

P.S. Personally, I keep around 0.05 BTC on my Tangem every day, and I don’t give a rat’s tail about such a consumable amount.

I also like to have more than one hardware wallet so I can organize my coins in a way that makes the most sense to me, based on my goals and how I use them

I have a Trezor Safe 3, a Ledger Nano S, and a Safepal

You’re an enthusiastic crypto user who holds BTC, mines, and is constantly buying and selling BTC, then it makes a lot of sense for you to have a good hardware wallet

I believe choosing a battery free device makes more sense for you since you’ll be keeping it in a safe

For the best UX experience, Trezor is the best choice of course.

By the way, when it comes to quantum resistance, do you really need it right now? It will be able to run post-quantum cryptographic updates, it doesn't protect your assets from quantum computers right now and anyway, there is no way someone with access to a quantum computer will steal your wallet right now and try to crack it. Also, there will come a time when Bitcoin and Bitcoin wallets will all be quantum-resistant.

My priority is an air gap. Because of this reason, Trezor Safe 7's bluetooth is a trade-off. You already said a thing about Battery, so I won't add anything.

In general, I'm a Coldcard & Passport guy. These two wallets are truly the Bitcoin only wallets with their ideology and when it comes to security, no wallet beats them.

well the trezor 5 is on the way.

I am passing on the trezor 7

I really like the screen size of it a lot.

my trezor t has an okay screen not great okay and this trezor 5 is same size screen

the 7 needs a

7a or an 8  with no battery no blutooth that would have been good for me. with a 1.62 x 1 size screen compared to the trezor 5.

I completely agree with that, because for long-term storage you shouldn't choose anything less than full air-gapped HW, but I understand that some people have their own preferences. I personally have a T5, but I use the same one for daily transactions, although it is good that there is an option with BTC firmware that allows to avoid many risks and attack vectors when it comes to altcoins.

I also think that T7 with its quantum resistance marketing is trying to appeal to those who live in fear of quantum computers stealing their coins, and it seems to me that this device will go down in history before the quantum threat becomes real.

Biggest pros for Trezor Safe 7 is their new next-gen TROPIC01 secure chip with additional secure element, and this device is IP67 water resistant.
But there is nothing wrong with Trezor Safe 5 or 3, and you can expect Trezor to provide updates for decades on most devices, much more than all other hardware wallets.
I am personally waiting to see Trezor creating some real airgapped device with camera.

As the price didn't matter for philipma1957, I would've chosen the Trezor Safe 7 for various reasons.

I like their own TROPIC01 secure element and the Safe 7 is their first device with it.

I'm not the greatest fan of a non-replaceable internal battery in a hardware wallet, but the LiFePO4 battery chemistry should last likely longer than you're going to use this model. I hope Trezor chose better quality battery to not stain their reputation, in contrast to crappy Ledger batteries.

I'm also not a fan of Bluetooth technology in a hardware wallet and this shit is only there because the Apple cult doesn't open their USB-C shit interface to other devices. In my opinion Bluetooth has only been included to please the golden-fenced fallen fruit camp.
But as I read, you can turn off Bluetooth in the settings of the Safe 7, so you don't need to expose and use it.

As I'm also one of the more elderly folks, I'd be more than happy with the larger screen and the heftier materials used.

All in all more features of their current flagship model and that's why I'd rather choose the Safe 7 over the Safe 5, but that's maybe just me.

A future air-gapped Trezor would very likely have an internal battery anyway.

If you are Bitcoin-only, you could have also gone with something different like a Krux hardware signer. Various devices with different screen sizes work with the open-source Krux software. It's airgapped and stateless. Everything is wiped from memory when you turn the device off. Krux supports scanning encrypted seed QRs and you can even set up passphrase QRs. Micro SD cards are also supported.

Then there is BIP-85 that allows you to generate a parent seed followed by X number of child seeds. Call the parent seed your master seed if you want. If someone got to your child seed, your parent seed remains safe. If you think about it, you don't even have to use the master seed ever, only the child seeds, which you can import/export if needed.
