Hi all, I've built a place to aggregate Bitcoin related business, events, podcasts, youtube, nostr content etc. It's early alpha and will likely be missing a lot of stuff, so my apologies. I'll be adding as much as I can from btcmap.org and all other sources. I'll open it up for user submitted suggestions as well. In the future I may have bounties for listing business (no promises). Hope you like it, sorry if it's janky BTC https://peekbtc.com/PeekBTC

I appreciate your effort, many essential functions aren't working; clicks on the homepage are pointless and grouping too many ideas in one place makes it difficult to grasp the site's core concept. Focus on a specific set of services on each page, and you'll achieve better results.

Thanks for the feedback! These are meant to show/hide widgets on the homepage, you can hide some of the noise
The concept is basically "find anything/everything bitcoin", the search will return business that accept bitcoin, bitcoin events, bitcoin podcasts etc, the cards in the search results will have different badges to indicate their category
There is also advanced filtering for tags/types/locations in the search page

I like such kind of websites where everything is collected into single place. I looked into your website and from first glance I can't say something bad about it. Just a bit strange to see that when your browse through your website original mouse cursor is replaced with your version of it. There was many attempts to make similar kind directories. Usually everything looked good in beginning, but then website disappear after few months or it's not getting updated anymore. Wish you to not repeat such scenario.

I think you have a pretty good foundation at the moment! You are still in what you call "early alpha" mode, however the concept itself seems like a good one. Integrating data from btcmap.org is a great fit as they have done a significant amount of groundwork for you in the field.
Are you going to manually check and approve every listing, or will there be a mechanism for your community to vote or verify that active businesses are listed? What are your plans for allowing users to submit suggestions in a user-friendly manner so that you dont become the sole bottleneck between the content and its contributors?

I agree with the many attempts, I'm intend to keep it current with new listing, I have a sync feature from multiple sources to be able to do this

Thanks! I have a few workflows to solve for this: 1. I have a "suggestion"/"suggest edit" system in place where a user can bascially "edit" the page/ fill out a simple form on the website to suggest any change at all (pictures, description, did it add lightning, did the hours of operation change, did the address change etc.), all built into the site, no github pull requests or anything complicated 2. I have a "bounty"/"payout" feature (not public yet, working, but still behind a feature flag), where I can offer bounties in sats for different items I want people to add, for example 100 sats for adding a listing name and description, 100 sats for a picture, 10 sats for address etc. etc. this will give people an incentive (even if it's small) to keep submitting new businesses and updating old ones. This also comes with a refund for the 21 sat anti-spam fee + reward for all the fields approved, if the submission is accepted. I can also increase bounties, so for example, if I think people could really benefit from adding a Dentist who accepts Bitcoin for payments in X city, I can set that reward to be x5 the regular rewards in sats, and it'll be posted on a bounty board, kind of like microtasks but to improve the directory. All the updates go into an approval flow, I manage it manually (I can automate it as well, but I prefer to start out manual since it's manageable in low volumes) 4. I also have commenting and star ratings currently disabled (behind feature flag as well, needs more testing), where people can rate business but also tip and upvote review they agree with 5. I am considering a reputation system, so that businesses recommended by nostr users you "follow" are ranked higher (this one is very very high level, early idea, unlike the others, this one may not be launched), using some sort of integration with either Nostr or Pubky (as an idea)

Just checked your website and I noticed clicking ALL doesn't seems to deselect everything after the user pick all of the options? I don't know why I expected it to behave like that, but I think that's a nice feature. At the very least it would help users to filter which ones they wanted to see faster compared to manually clicking category that they don't need. Is this already on your plan?

That part seems confusing to me too. I'm not sure what I selected, plus all services have a "business" tag, which is not particularly useful. It is clear that all of them are some business, but gambling and exchange are not the same. Also, I would remove these decorations while opening the page, it should be as simple as possible.

Finally, there's a directory with a modular layout design I'm curious to know that apart from dragging & changing the position of those tabs, is it possible to expand them horizontally & vertically as well [e.g., horizontal expansion might come in handy for the nostr feed]? - BTW, I noticed duplicate listings with either the same or different locations: Screenshot/Bookmarked

Yeah I think I will rework this feature, I might just change the behavior of the buttons so that when you click on it, it does directly to the seach page with the filter applied, or I might take it to the dedicated page, ex. I have a page for events where you can filter events by city/search

It might be a bug with grouping parent/child (franchises and multiple location businesses), those are actually different locations for the same companies (Bitcoin Well is an ATM company), it's supposed to group them under a single card that shows an expandable "multiple locations", I'll take a look, either the parent/child link didn't get added on my sync from BTCmap, or the groupings feature has a bug

Oh wow. Cool site you got there. Bookmarked it. You know, you could also add a "services" category; there are plenty of users in this forum that offer various services (me included). Maybe also add a Forum category, you could also list known crypto-forums like, of course, Bitcointalk, AltcoinsTalks, Bitcoingarden, etc. As for the Gamble category, pretty sure you'll have your work cut out for you since every day, new crypto-casinos pop up, it'll be tedious to keep up with them. But I wish you the best of luck on this project. Hopefully, it won't be like the other crypto-directories that are now gone or pretty outdated.

I personally don't like seeing lending services and cloud mining on the list because I personally believe that the latter is a pure scam, and the former is a huge risk, as we have seen in past. I have no complaints about the rest, it looks solid for a start.

It only means that there's less or no traction, visits or traffic made on the particular site for a span of x months at least 3 months. So site like this has always have the same ending unless it has active of marketing and active community to always geeting involve in organic traffic

i see you have 1xbit listed in the gambling directory, it's a scam casino, so you should either remove it, or mark it as a scam. if you work a bit on the UI/UX, and implement other suggestions from members here, you will have a solid website.
and please get rid of that custom hover cursor, it's annoying.

Good to see another directory. Personally, I like the browse all section for how straight forward it is.
I would suggest perhaps once you select a topic, entries would immediately show up. Then folks can just use the categories (the boxes) to filter out things.
I tried to select exchanges on the sidebar. I think it'd be nice if the search function would be more dedicated for it as it appears to be a general search function. For instance, the sorting options should just be related to exchanges only e.g. kyc, if it has p2p, spot, derivatives, instant exchange, etc.

I get what you're coming from, I personally would also not use cloud mining, it gets difficult because I try go be objective/neutral on these things, super obvious scams will be removed, but I am also cautious about being too narrow on what's listed since different people opinions will vary Thanks!
