The Concept

The Beat the Bookie Challenge is built around real money betting with equal starting conditions and full transparency, ensuring every participant competes on a level playing field.
Everyone starts with the same bankroll, places real bets on World Cup matches and shares them publicly before kickoff, with results verified afterwards — making every move visible and accountable.
This isn’t about hitting one lucky bet. The format rewards players who can stay disciplined, manage their bankroll and make consistently smart decisions over a longer period of time.
In the end, it’s about long-term profit — not short-term luck.

Starting conditions, rules and requirements

No buy-in required to play, other than your betting bank. You keep all the winnings.

• Starting Balance: maximum 100$ (you can start with less).
• All bets must be placed on Rainbet
• Bets must be shared publicly before kickoff (filled in through a Google form with a screenshot attached)
• Minimum stake per bet: 10$; minimum odds per ticket: 1,50
• Only pre-match World Cup matches count (all markets accepted - outrights as well)

Rebuy system

• To keep things competitive and avoid early eliminations, a rebuy will be allowed once per each World Cup round.
• You can rebuy up to 100$ total balance (meaning, if you have a 20$ balance, your maximum rebuy is 80$).
• Unsettled bets count as balance - meaning that if you have 2 unsettled tickets with 10$ stake each, it will count as 20$ of balance.

Timeline and eligibility

• The challenge runs from June 11, 2026, to July 19, 2026, covering the full World Cup period with 45 days of action and over 100 matches to choose from.
• All bets must be fully settled before the final standings are confirmed.
• To remain eligible for prizes, participants are required to stay active throughout the competition by placing a minimum of 3 bets per round and 24 bets in total.
• Failing to meet these requirements will result in disqualification from prize eligibility, regardless of overall performance.

Scoring & Leaderboards

• The person with the highest total winnings after the final bets have been settled will be the winner.
  In case of a tie, the reward will be split.
• All rebuys count as negative bankroll – meaning that if you finish with 500$ balance and had 3 rebuys, your total winnings is 100$.
• This means that a person with a lower final balance can be the winner, as long as their delta is the highest.

As in the World Cup this time must have a lot of bankroll, because the world cup pool one more is also required to bet at least $10.

Time to win it... or in my case, wing it. I know I'll have to rule myself out of Fantasy but this one still looks playable, if I just find 5 minutes to put my bets in. You don't need to rebuy if you are winning the bets. Winning bets are going towards your bank and you can use that money as much as you want. Rebuys are here for those that see their initial bank shrink a bit too much but know they can do better in the future.

For instance if you play 10 tickets in the first week, all with 2.5 odds and win 5 of them. You will end the week with 125$ and you will not be able to add any money to your bank. But if you win just 1 out of 10 and you have 25$, you can add another 75$ to have better chances in the future.

We didn't decide 100% on all the stuff yet, but it should be all done inside google sheets with nice overview so we can all see how others are doing and how much we have left in the bank.

Rebuy is always a new deposit. We do not mind if you have 500$ on Rainbet already, lose 100$ through the competition and then rebuy with the 100$ you already have there - so it does not need to be new money.
You can normally use that account to bet - we don't care about any other bets/balances other than those you chose to play for the competition.

You can bet on the single match with different picks, you can do all you would if you were normally betting - just has to be a WC game and can't be live due to obvious reasons (impossible to manage).

Yes, almost certainly. There is also a match for 3rd place - that one is counted in the same round as the final.
There is a slight possibility that we will make minor adjustments to some of the rules but I don't see this one being changed.

The final needs to be important and bring some swing opportunities.

I forgot about the 3rd place match up. I guess you are right, the latter stages is the point when the most attention is on the tournament from fans and casuals, makes sense to not reduce the total bets at that point.

I'm even formulating early strategies already, with an idea to get buy-ins if I'm not below 50% of the leader. Easy peasy, yeah?

Question to organisers: Does your balance always include unsettled bets? Say, if I bet $50 on a live game and lose, and $50 on the team to make it past group stage (which won't settle until Stage 2 starts)... I can only rebuy $50, yeah?

To be fully honest with you, I remembered this specific case one day while trying to sleep and then forgot to include it in the rules.
All unsettled bets will naturally count as remaining balance - meaning that if you have 20$ in the bank and 35$ in unsettled bets, most you can top up is 45$.

We don't really want to incentivize outrights - it is slow and boring
It is a part of a legit strategy though, if you're being careful with your balance and have a lot of unsettled bets near the end of the competition, you'll have a big edge.

Only thing that we really want to have but can't implement properly is live betting - so no live bets will be accepted. There is simply no way to work around the trust element.
