This is what happens to your account in central banks if you leave it unused for two or three years, and this also happens in centralized exchanges, so keeping money in banks or centralized exchanges is the same thing and is wrong.

The best and safest option is to keep your Bitcoin in a non-custodial wallet, as there are still Bitcoins in old wallets from about 15-17 years ago that no one can freeze and they will remain in the wallet until their owner wants to withdraw and spend them. This is the true concept of ownership.

We’ve also experienced the deactivation of accounts that haven’t had any transactions for a long time. If I recall correctly, bank accounts that haven’t had any withdrawals are deactivated by the bank based on government regulations.

Bank will not gives your money back to you without filling difficult requirement. You need to prove you are the owner by showing so many identities and that needs time to check. They will make sure that you are the right person and they can't accept if their customers don't make transaction for 2 years. Those people who used the bank do not accept Bitcoin as payment as they are actively used the account for transaction even for small transaction. We can't deny that many people still need bank accounts to transact and although they don't receive any interest of their saving, they do not minds.

I suspect that too. Even gold, an asset that is thousands of years old and recognized globally. But there are still has many people who dislike it and have no interest in owning it. So how will Bitcoin achieve that?

This is not provably the main reason on why they didn't grab some Bitcoin. What play huge factor is the government approach towards this coin, if they are skeptical and impose lots of sanctions or discourage people to use it then those merchants and people will remain skeptical to buy Bitcoin.

But everything will change if we have seen good movement than by government. We can make US as example which right now they are finding ways to adopt Bitcoin, then little by little we have seen the effect of it since there are lots of good developments outside of that country happened and lots of companies also people are now looking at Bitcoin as good asset to acquire.

Many business owners have high chance of turning Bitcoin into something big, there are some business people that when they make profit from their business, they don't reinvest everything to the business, instead they push the money back to the bank and only use small portion to top the business. This is the vision many of them lack, why not put the money into business instead of enriching banks, I will gladly push that money to Bitcoin as investment.

Advantage of this over savings or other investment is that Bitcoin has never failed when it comes to liquidity issues, you can buy Bitcoin and sell anytime you want to cash your money, if you safely bought Bitcoin in one bear market, you will never regret doing it because if you can hold it and pass another bull run, you will always be at the top and can sell why you want to do it instead of buying other assets you will not be able to sell or liquidate very fast.

We cannot just discard Bitcoin volatility just like that it still is the reason why many small businesses don't accept it, they will prefer to accept fiat which they are sure that it's value will be relatively the same within a few days that they need to take profit and restock. So for now and a long time to come we will still be relying on the banking system to make payments despite that inflation always hits fiat on the long term. I think that so far traditional currencies are better, faster and more convenient for payments than Bitcoin, I would rather keep my savings in Bitcoin and use fiat for payments within short periods.

It's so sad that you can't live in this world (my country, at least), without the banks or the fiat system, because this system is not favourable at all. Trying to give the system the benefit of the doubt is like shooting yourself in the foot.
I wonder why more people, or businesses, are not trying to move away from this system. I made the mistake of leaving the money in that account; if I had converted it to Bitcoin, I wouldn't be in this mess, but it's a mistake I would never make again.

Edit: The reason I brought Volatility into this is that it is one of the main reasons businesses give for not accepting Bitcoin as payment. And the way I see it right now, I'd rather chose volatility than for someone else to hold and control my money for me, while giving me the illusion that I own and control the money when in reality, I've given then a no-interest loan.

You are absolutely right, I don't know if we are from the same country but I've had a similar experience too, I have account with 3 4 different banks, and at a point, I was financially down and wasn't able to keep all four accounts active as usual, so I took a break from using zenith bank and Access bank (I deliberately mentioned the name of the banks involved so that those who are from my country will understand me better).

For 3 years plus, I didn't touch any of this banks meanwhile some I did business with had a couple of times mistakenly sent my money to my zenith account, and I said well, since money is there, it will help the account not to go into domancy.
Three years later, I went to withdraw that money and discovered the account was in domancy mode, I walked into the bank to have things rectified but I was asked to provide some documents, I later did for both the zenith bank account and Access bank, Access after one week of providing the document reactivated my account but zenith bank, which was were had over $150 worth of my country's currency refused to reactivate my account, claiming the utility bill I provided isn't the accepted type, I've been in and out of that bank for the past 2 years and no progress, at a point, I gave up.
Experiences like this when I remember them makes my love for bitcoin grow really high above what anybody can imagine.

ANd I agree with the title the volaitlity is no excuse, you can just use the payment processor which instantly convert the btc or crypto deposit into fiat value so you don't lose anything.
