Hey
I’m currently living in a long‑term drug rehab program in Victoria, Australia. A lot of us here come from jail or unstable backgrounds, and one of the biggest challenges after rehab is finding real, modern skills that help us stay out of crime.
Our program has approved a project that I think this community will appreciate:
a small, energy‑efficient crypto mining + digital skills setup inside the rehab.
Why crypto?
Crypto is one of the few tech spaces where:
• you can learn hands‑on skills without needing a formal education
• the barrier to entry is low if you start small
• it teaches real concepts: hardware, software, networks, decentralisation, energy efficiency, security, and financial literacy
• it shows people there are legal, modern ways to earn money that don’t involve crime
For a lot of people here, this is the first time they’ve ever touched a computer for something productive.
What we’re building
We’re starting small and realistic:
• 1–2 low‑power mining units
• basic computer equipment
• cooling + safety gear
• educational materials
• supervised workshops on how mining works, wallets, networks, and digital security
This isn’t about “getting rich”. It’s about education, structure, and giving people a future that doesn’t involve going back to jail.
Why I’m posting here
Crypto has always been about breaking old systems, creating new opportunities, and giving people access to tools they never had before. That’s exactly what we’re trying to do inside this rehab.
If you want to support the project, here’s our GoFundMe:

Even if you can’t donate, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to anyone in this community who believes crypto can be used for something positive and real.

That’s a great idea. Using Bitcoin mining to teach real skills can help people rebuild their lives. Focusing on learning, not profit, is the right approach. Even small setups can teach valuable tech and security skills. Good project Grin

It's great that you're helping people in difficult situations, but it's very difficult to find work in mining, and home mining died out long ago in countries with expensive electricity.
Australia isn't even in the top 10 mining countries, and that's likely due to high electricity prices.
This material will be very useful as additional knowledge, but a good electrician or equipment repair specialist has a better chance of finding work.

That’s a great idea. Using Bitcoin mining to teach digital skills can give people real, practical experience and a new path after rehab. Focusing on learning, structure, and discipline matters more than profit. Even a small setup can teach useful skills like tech basics, security, and responsibility.  Grin

This will only create awareness, not bad, but the reality is they can't get paid knowing all these, it's not some job and skills teaching, most of these people can't afford to buy profitable miners and start mining.

However there is hope, they can get out of rehab and want to embark on something like this, maybe they can find someone who will help them with it after they are out, this is why I won't rule the idea off, it's a good one regardless.

Focusing on learning alone without earning won't help much unless they already have money to make it happen.
