Yes it can affect the development of the child for different reasons. The effect could be either a positive one or a negative one. It could be positive if the marriage is a toxic one.

There are no positives when a child is missing either parents. Nature designed parenting to be a joint ticket of sorts and when either parent is absent, the present parent can only fulfil their specific role in the upbringing of a child.

If a child grows up in a home where both parents are fighting each other and abusing themselves every time, it becomes a thing of fear and negative effects to the child. It is better for the child to leave such environment rather than growing in the same environment.

The chid may leave but the function, support and parenting role cannot be replaced because it is irreplaceable. For instance, when a small child is crying, parental link is responsible for the parent (father or mother) feeling the impact of the child's cry. This is not possible if the child doesn't biologically belong to the individual taking care of them.  Sometimes, a psychologist can tell if you're a child's biological parent through such bonding mechanisms.

But the negative side of separation is more than the negative side of it. If the couples were to separate, the child firstly becomes an orphan then the child also grows up under a single parent which sometimes becomes a problem to them. A child normally needs the care of both parents, it is meant to be a combined effort between the two. Fostering a child from his infant stage up to the level of adulthood is never a small thing to do.

It will definitely affect the child’s development because both parents have a role to play in the child’s life and when one is not available it affects the child in so many ways. There are roles a father will play in a child’s life and there are roles a mother will play in a child’s life. When one of them is not there to play their roles it affects the child, mentally, emotionally and physically. It so had to see a child trained by a single parent that is raised properly and apart from aspect of upbringing, the thought of having only one parent always messes with their brain, causing a breakdown, mental stress, they get bullied at times for that too.

Both father and mother have a role to play in the life of every child and the same way that a child shares the gene of both parents, that's exactly the same way the child also needs the training of both parents. There's always a difference between a child who was brought of by a single parent and a child who was brought up by both parents, and no matter how hard a single parent tries, it is still impossible for them to fill the space of both.

Normally, mothers' roles are to watch the children and provide good training, but when the mother is not there, the father won't have time to play the role of the father because their main responsibility is to work and provide for the family. As long as a parent is not able to play both parental roles, it will definitely affect the child after separation.

When parents separate, it affects the children mentally. He will see his friends happily living with their parents but will feel disappointed when he sees his own parents separated. Many times after separation, the father or mother remarries. Due to this  many children are neglected by their stepparents. They are deprived of a happy life with their parents. I think if the child stays with his mother after separation  he does not feel so helpless. However most of the children who stay with their father after separation are neglected by their stepmother. This is my own opinion  but it could be the other way around.

The age should also be taking note of because there are some age the separation will not affect because in everybody's life there is a time you wouldn't imagine anything without the parents together but when you have grown into adults and leaving on your own, you wouldn't be much affected by there separation because aside from being independent you have also understand the important of getting tired and incompactibility to avoid domestic violence. But to a child they wouldn't no all this things because they believe that as they have come together before they don't have excuses for discontinuing the relationship.

Your choice of word came off too strong. I wouldn't call those who find themselves in that situation that, except I know they intentionally planned it. Separation or divorce is caused by irreconcilable differences. Sometimes, it's even better than batching up things, especially if one of the spouses or both are violet. By the way, I hope we know that Separation is even better than divorce?

Men and women should stop giving birth to children if, in the end, they will not be there to guard the child. There is nothing much better than having both parents together while growing up.

That's often the goal, going into marriage but then shit happens sometimes. Like they say in our local parlance and I loosely translate – No one tells any to keep boiled water for them that they're going to fall from a tree. It usually happens by accident.

This will depend on the personality and the love that the father or mother has for their child. Although mothers are often known for being closer to and more loving towards their children, that does not mean fathers arent.

Not all mothers fulfill their responsibilities, and there are also fathers who are willing to sacrifice their lives for their children. They just show it differently.
