Whatever will be will be, it no doesn't matter if there will be a climate issues or not, people will still go about their daily lives and do what they are meant to do, you guys should not worry about anything, as everything will be fine and good and the World Cup tournaments will soon take place and it will a very interesting and unforgettable one, as everyone will enjoy and have fun. So, everyone should just live right, do what they can and have the best moment of their time, as its good and helpful to their health.

The strongest El Nino on record is starting to affect weather during the World Cup.  The people who are used to heat that is lethal to me may have a good time at the start, but soon it will be hard to tolerate.  The true diehards will wait until their clothes catch on fire.  :/

I suspect that it was some form of state excitation, probably in order to take readings, but whatever technology put pin-point energy into a location should also be able to initiate chemical reactions I would suppose.

Lasers are a perfect example.   One engineering idea uses pulses to create fusion.   But Radar uses a much wider beamwidth and interacts with a large footprint or resolution cell to detect objects across wide areas.  Our most powerful radars are already pointing at the sky to detect ICBMs and we have never seen any change due to them in fifty years.

Is there any physics expert who wants to calculate a constant 40% increase in electric usage for AI as the direct impact that would have on the temperature? I would think enough additional electric output would cause an actual increase in temperatures overall, but am not sure about the math involved there. They have to burn a truly monumental volume of fuel to get all that new electricity for the AI.

Kimi used a 100 TWh baseline for AI electricity today (in line with 2024–2025 estimates of 75–100 TWh for AI-optimized servers) and applied a 40 % compound annual growth rate. Direct emissions are calculated using the global average grid intensity (~475 g CO₂/kWh) against total global CO₂ of 37.8 Gt CO₂/year. The temperature column uses the IPCC’s TCRE best estimate of 0.45 °C per 1,000 Gt CO₂ applied to the cumulative emissions from growth. Hardware not included – These are direct operational emissions only. Embodied carbon from GPUs, servers, and datacenter construction would add materially to the total.   Also, if clusters are built in regions with coal-heavy grids (e.g., parts of the US Midwest, China, India), the real-world CO₂ intensity could be 2× higher!

Thanks. It looks like it isn't much of a short-term concern but still I do wonder how it will be on a longer term horizon when these allegedly "unlimited" resources of AI compound on each other, if that is what ends up happening.

Looking at the way things are going I am convinced that the worst is yet to come as it is difficult to predict when there will be peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflicts surrounding the entire world now. From when it all started know one believed the conflict will take this long before dialogue which i am not yet sure can bring solution to it now.
With the current situation on ground i am tempted to say that in the next few months to come many unknown things may happen and it will be very difficult to control which is why I say all we need now is to find possible way of resolution because if that is not done the future will be very difficult to predict

Absolutely I understand your concern, the uncertainty  surrounding these conflicts is what worries so many individuals the most while the problem appears to be getting more serious history has shown that even the most difficult dialogue and resolution  the challenge is ensuring that efforts towards peace start before the consequences become even more sever at this point good commitment from all aside is needed because prolonging conflict only brings more instability and makes the future even harder to predict.

I'm still alive and planning my relocation, but thousands have already died as a result of El Nino, which I just heard could be permanent.  With Hoover Dam about to stop power generation, and the multiple river failures in Europe that cool power generation, the intensification of this heat could kill millions if there are outages that last even half a day.

Tell me BD - you and I have had opposing viewpoints for a long time - what do you think of this climate change situation?   Is it an overall result of free will without social concern?   Is it a test to see if we pray to the correct god when we're afraid?   Is god going to save humanity?

I can only say that I have never experienced such a hot summer, a good part of July and all of August temperatures were drastically high in Europe and new records were set. This resulted in catastrophic fires across Europe, record low river levels (the lowest in the last 200 years) and an incredible demand for air conditioners.

Still, that's not the worst part, because if someone in the middle of all this says "enjoy the coldest summer you'll ever experience," I wonder what kind of hell awaits us next year, which they say will be the warmest since measurements began.
