Has anyone actually bought something through Chatgpt and paid with BTC? I HAVE been noticing more companies moving in this direction, using agents to help book services or make purchases more directly. For example, Trip1.com allows you to book hotels this way and pay with crypto, which seems quite different from the usual process. I mostly used Bitcoin to buy online gift cards, so this feels like a step further. I AM curious whether people are already using this in practice and how reliable it is.

I'm not sure if I have ever seen an agent for payments through Bitcoin though? I have seen many (and many are still showing every day) but it's mostly for Stablecoins. And from what I can see on Trip1, it's also for USDC on Base chain: https://trip1.com/en/agents

No, I haven't used it. I heard we may use a chatbot for shopping as well to purchase online, but I've never heard of someone buying. And buying with Bitcoin payment seems like a more complicated process to me through ChatGPT. Though I am not aware of the real process, won't it be risky giving wallet access to ChatGPT?

You have to know what you are doing, so research more about it. Because Bitcoin is irreversible, once a payment is made, it can't be refunded. Hope the process will be secure and reliable if the system is implemented.

AI talkbots are different from AI agents. I doubt AI talkbots can fulfill that request with just one command. The problem is, they only work when you send them a prompt, and even then, they only have limited authorization. The truth is, they could probably build an agent capable of everything with an initiation command, including authorization to sign transactions.

I don't use ChatGPT to buy stuff for me, and I think that's a silly idea.

Just buy the stuff you want directly on the websites.

Besides, OpenAI will not allow you to link a prepaid card anyway, so that removes a bunch of avenues for crypto payments towards this category.

AI agents are getting a lot of hype right now, but I don’t really see them being useful to me. I can manage my own portfolio manually and I am not a programmer who would need an AI assistant to be more efficient and productive. Outside of those things, I don’t know what an AI agent would be needed for. On top of that, I don’t feel comfortable keeping funds on a hot wallet, especially one where I don’t have full control over.

In the early days of OpenClaw, I remember there being hundreds of add-ons being distributed on GitHub that were actually malicious programs designed to steal crypto. Since then, I don’t know how effectively those security risks have been mitigated, so this is something people should be using with caution, only testing with small amounts.

No, I haven't. It's actually first time when I hear that you can buy stuff through Chatgpt. I looked for more information and looks that this thing now only works in US, so, nothing strange that I'm not aware about it. Anyway, don't see many reasons why I should buy though Chatgpt instead of using old fashioned ways. And in general, I'm a bit sceptical when AI is taking over everywhere, there is a bit too much of us.

I can't imagine myself using one. If it's something simple as buy this thing for x amount of money, wouldn't it be faster if I just do it myself? Not to mention it means I'll have to give some details about my payment methods in one way or another.

I guess if you're dealing with batch payments you'll need a tool to make it faster and convenient to manage, but wouldn't business who need one develop their own tools by then? Maybe I'm not the market for this. It's not like I can spend my Bitcoin easily unless I'm dealing with digital products here anyway.

Businesses would develop their own tools to handle transactions in batches. They should be aware about the risks connecting their hotwallets to an external agent.

No, i will never give ChatGPT or other kind of AI/chatbot access to my online account or Bitcoin private key. With your example, i would just visit Trip1 website, make a booking and pay it manually.

those companies have no idea what they are doing, they are just following hype to add "AI" to their product, and allowing AI agents to purchase directly or even worse, giving them direct access to their backend, is one prompt injection attack away from disaster.

what if the AI makes a mistake? or misunderstands your instruction and books your hotel on the wrong date or something like that?
personally, anything that requires any type of payment, i do it manually, and will only ever do it manually.

Assuming they're just recording steps required to submit orders and pick the payments then you might not have to give any personal info. But I doubt that's the case, especially when you're talking about LLM or AI from a cloud service interacting with your device. At least you'll have to give some info on where you buy orders and your accounts. CMIIW.

I don't know if there are already people using these features but the discussion is on the rise since the practice is possible. Still less people manage transactions using personal wallet as the majority use their wallets in exchangers. Think about to build a script!!

Unless I am the dev with good skills to build my own application to manage my transactions, I would never use a third part service even by following his steps to create my own app. This is the most insane risky idea I heard about with AI. This is worse than asking AI the methods on how to scam people their money.
