Help me to clear out my childhood question about gambling We saw this situations in movies, but I believe all that happens IRL also. Here is the thing. In movies, if there is scene with illegal gambling, there is always one guy (with tickets or papers in his hand), who take bets from random people from the crowd. Question is, how he remember odds and bets of all random bettors? If he just takes money, how he distribute rewards? Must have had a huge computer in his head to do all the calculations live

I completely understand that this is just a movie, but lets say, in cockfighting, those bet collectors look exactly like what I have described. If they just give you paper with written by hand bet, what stops people from cheating?

i actually don’t know exactly as i am not what would be called a bookie albeit informally, but they list it down. they usually have a little notebook and they assign a number or an alias. it also helps this betting usually takes place in communities where everyone is pretty familiar with each other already.

That's how it should be. Where I am, it's the same, 24 hours a day. There's no problem withdrawing; you just need to bring the chips and that's it. These are bookies that have website but I don't know what's wrong with some people, they like everything to be done in the bet shop and not on their phone. A long time ago, really long ago like in more than 20 years ago I was placing bets in physical shops as it was the only method at the country where I live now but that at the time I had just arrived. Everyone was placing bets to physical shops and the only rule was if you were a winner you could only cash out at the shop you placed the bet or if you got to another shop even of the same company as there were many back then, you could not get paid. This is a very distant memory that made me feel bad as I am well over 40 years now  .

I agree small with the fact that gambling with our device online will be more dangerous to us but the truth is that someone who can not control himself or her will still do the same thing even though they are gambling offline that is betting in a gambling hall. Well you don't say. Just so you know, gambling is actually a lucrative business for a lot of gamblers. same way some folks do night shifts at a normal white collar job, that's exactly how some gamblers consider gambling as a night job. But this does not answer the question that the person that posted this topic asked. He is not asking about how land based gambling agents are but he is asking about how someone can cash out when not all the matches are yet over. The answer is that anyone can walk up to a betting agent to cash out the money for him if the cashout is available.
