It's happening in my country. Since the present administrative took over power inflation, poverty and high rate of unemployment has been the order of the day. We have refineries that are not working but crude oil is the major natural resources of the country.

We the people are the leaders in a successful government, so if our style is to vote away your responsibilities once a year at the ballot box without having spent at least a few minute a week checking up on such people to see how they did, then societal decay is a foregone conclusion.
