That's true. In fact, I've seen some religions ask for money for what they call tithing. I once saw them asking for 10% of people's salaries to give to the pastor, then they asked for 50%, and that doesn't make sense. It's for the benefit of the pastor and his family. Many believers do it thinking they'll get what they ask for from God, but that's not how it works. Churches and religions shouldn't be based on that. If they do that, they shouldn't have the audacity to prohibit casinos.

You make a valid point there. Every laws and commandment should be summed up in one thing, and that's love. Love your neighbours, love yourself and love your creator. because if love really exists in our heart, then we wouldn't do anything to would either bring us or any other person harm, and that's what right living is all about. My religion directly prohibits gambling. Yet I see many people of my religion gambling. In fact, there are people in every religion who cannot lead their lives according to complete religious rules and neither can we.

To begin with, we must remember that religion (not to be confused with faith) is... a system for manipulating and controlling the masses. We are a religious Christian and Catholic country. But if you guess it right, we're also the country that has got the most gamblers in the region. That's because the government made it easy access for everyone to gamble. Instead of pushing people to save and invest money. They're getting more money and taxes from the gambling industry. I am not biased because I gamble but I also save money and you'd see people praying for their luck to win to their gods. If the verses are right, IIRC, gambling could lead into serving mammon.

In a corrupt country, they will do everything to keep people struggling, so the people will keep relying on their aid. That is why I think it may be okay for the government to allow gambling, but if the country already has a struggling economy, then it should be under proper control.

Instead of milking the poor people, gambling operations should be focused more on tourists or even gamblers from outside the country. That way, the government can collect taxes from outsiders, instead of taking more money from people who are already having a hard time. About teaching religion or beliefs, maybe we just interpret it differently. In one country, there can be many religions, but there is only one law that everyone has to follow, and that is the law of the government.

So for me, religion and government should be separated. There is no absolute right or wrong when it comes to religious belief because it depends on what each person believes. As long as it does not violate the law of the land, people should be free to follow their own belief.

The government gets a lot of taxes from the poor and that's why even they know that it's going to be bad for the effects of it, they are not stopping it. At some point, they're able to stop it but eventually the policies loosened and they're allowed again. Your reasoning is legitimate, I too have asked myself this as a Christian, but the basic concept that pushes me to think it borders on acceptance is that gambling could lead to perdition.

Yes, the Bible does not explicitly forbid gambling, since its just a simple form of leisure, but the Bible also warns against the love of money. Now if you are using gambling to express your greed and set no limits on it, until you create wealth from gambling, that's already against with the word of the Bible. But if you are simply gambling using your own disposable income and with no intent to cheat, thus gambling does not make a sinful activity.
