Lets face it... that is really the sin most gamblers do when they gamble, right? I do it in a controlled way and just for entertainment, never to make money.... I've never compromised more than I should, so I believe that I gambling without displeasing God.

Not trying to talk down on your faith, but your personal habits got nothing to do with your religion. If you chose to make stupid decisions with hard-earned money, then that's on you not God. There's a reason why you're called an adult-- that infers that you're solely responsible for the choices you make.

I am not blaming God for my gambling habits... in fact, I do not even see my gambling habits as a problem or something that displeases him.

What I am saying is that I gamble responsibly. The money I spend on gambling is SPENT not LOST. It is money that I spend the same way I would spend with any other form of entertainment, like going to see movies, buying a ticket to football game or even partying with friends at a bar (drinking socially).

Regardless of faith, I believe everyone should have this awareness. But since we are talking about faith, I assure you that my faith help me to be more prudent with money... not because I put it in God's hands, but because it has brought me closer to the desire to love my family above all else, and that makes me gamble consciously.

I believe that in most parts, organized religion hates gambling because people get too much of it and it becomes detrimental. Many religions teach discipline, responsibility and protecting family and finances and gambling is therefore discouraged. However, not all people who gamble become addicted, as some people only play for amusement and know their limits. I think that the problem is not gambling, per se, but too much gambling that can lead to poor behavior and life choices. While opinions and beliefs vary from person to person, the most essential element in any form of gambling is self-control.

I don't think the bible even said that one should not gamble, people are entitled to gamble, but should do in the right way, if they feel that they can't hold up to the way they are supposed to gamble, then its better they live it for their own good because if they risk their lives for something that will destroy their lives instead of adding more values to it, then it is said for it not to be a good thing. The Church where most people go where I live now and most other Churches in Europe prohibit gambling outright as despite it not being known in the Bible the priests most likely correlate faith according to our modern day standards. I don't think abort was known when the Bible was written yet nowadays most Christians are against it, so even for gambling the advice from most priests to outright forbid gambling comes because of modern era and all facts related to it, like a bad economy for example which the last thing they need is gambling.

Yes, it do still end up on someones action and we do know that once a gambler would really be having that kind of mentality about making money then they do really lost up their sense about on what are the things that they should gonna do specially when they are already losing up more than on what they can afford to lose. Even though there are no clear standing about gambling in terms of God warning against gambling in the Bible yet, many preacher are against gambling. People have been gambling right from time immemorial and it's not a new thing even when Jesus Christ was starting his mission as our Lord and personally Savior, he went into the temple and the Pharisees were using the temple to sell all manner of things and were gambling in the temple which he kicked against and drove them out.

Pastors preach about gambling because of the negative effects it has on society and individuals that are involved in it, imagine if you see someone sell his properties just to have money to fund his wallet to bet, some get addicted and frustrated from looses and that's why it is talked about. In general, organised religion emphasises ‘love of money' as one of most evil things, and as gambling does not involve honest labour it is seen not as sin, but as moral hazard.

This is more of Lack of Stewardship than tool of devil, other than problem with game. As you posted, anything that lacks self control can be trap, whether it is shopping, trading or even food. Difference is in Motive. Gambling fits definition of a desperate escape or exploiting others that preachers warn against. But fact that there were lots at bottom of  cross proves that there is always element of chance in human experience. If maybe everyone was just taking gambling as a form of entertainment and just being hopeful on a normal level and not total dependence on the profit, there probably would not have been many addicts and then the over religious people won't say it's bad. I agree with you, gambling is seen as bad by many people but that is also because gamblers are irresponsible in their gambling, they tend to gamble with a lack of self-control which makes them experience bad effects, especially in terms of finance.

As far as I know, Abrahamic religions forbid gambling or consider it negative because of its "potential" moral corruption, and maybe that is what is meant by the devil work, or scheme of devil.

While i am an atheist, and don't believe in this stuff, i thought messages in bible were part of general knowledge. Gambling itself is never bad, it is only for entertainment, but people have taken it badly in their own will, then they are influenced badly and from this gambling has been presented badly in front of everyone. But the main thing is that if we take gambling properly and keep it for entertainment, then it will not put us in such a big danger, rather it will only keep us entertained.
