So another warning from them,

So it looks like CMC is being used as cyber criminals. Perhaps their brand name or their website is one of the most visited sites that we have in crypto world makes them a very good name to used by scammers.

It is important that when big companies like this that have a lot of trusted people following them, once a scammer is trying to impersonate or scam people using their name, a circular like this should be released with immediate effect. This shows how they value their customers more and not to fall in the hands of scammers.

Many companies now don’t use phone calls as a means of contacting their customers, because scammers already leveraged on that method and scammed a lot of people. Some prefer not to even message you until you do when you have a problem, this is just ways for them to minimise the risk of their customers not getting into the hands of scammers which is the best.

They have put a reminder on their website on top of it where it can easily be seen by all of the visitors. That's the best way to inform their users so that no one will be victimized by these scammers. Because if they'll only post it on socials, not all of their visitors are visiting their pages to check the updates. But if it's on their actual website and a warning is given, it's easier to disseminate the message for everyone to see.

So they just released a public announcement in their social media that scammers and cyber criminals are impersonating their brand or company. Scammers are cold calling anyone. I haven't received any though, and most likely leak personal data of crypto enthusiast might have been used here.
This is just a regular warning most exchanges makes to let Thier customers know what's possible with scammers and fact is that it's rare before you see even banks making a direct call through to Thier customers because now, customers contact can be easily gotten and the process of impersonation is damn real.

Before using an exchange or a platform, you have to get all this information so as to understand when something that's out of the ordinary is coming.

Coin market cap had to do this so safe guard their community because if such an event occurs, you could imagine the number of people that could be a victim of such considering the fact that cmc is a general crypto price index and if anything happens with the name for my shady reasons, people would lose hope and interests in it so try had to take some step's ahead of the scammers and possibly there could be a report which could have triggered CMC to make such an announcement and.it is good they did so to protect their name and brand.

It is not new that people are being scammed by pretending to be a member of coinmarketcap, because before that there was a time when many people were trying to start up in cryptocurrency and at that time scammers targeted them and phished them and impersonated them and took huge money as a fee for listing on coinmarketcap but later they block you immediately after sending the fee.
And this issue is still going on and not only in the case of coinmarketcap, but also in the case of binance or big exchanges or also in the case of the gambling platform scammers are always trying to scam but we have to be careful not to get caught in their trap or phishing.
