Nowadays, things have really changed. Back then, what an elder could tell you just by sitting down, based on experience and wisdom, we now quickly run to Google to find. In the past, elders were like walking libraries. They had seen life, made mistakes, learned lessons and could guide you with just a simple conversation. You didn’t need internet, you just needed to sit and listen.

But today, instead of asking questions from people around us, we just pick up our phones and start searching online. It’s faster, no doubt and we can get different opinions instantly. But sometimes, we forget that experience cannot be fully replaced by information.

Google can give you answers, but elders can give you understanding. Google shows you facts, but elders share life lessons.

You are very correct. myself included, I am a victim of it also. Google is faster, but doesn't beat the deep advice an elder has for you.

For me personally I think that elderly respect we have for elders is fading out gradually and it is not a good sign at all.

The fact remains that, the respect of elders will fade. As what they say and what they do are different. You can't give me advice and do otherwise of that you said.

True talk, elders were really like walking libraries, Wetn dem eye done see and done pass through for life na pure wisdom. One hour sitting with your grandfather or auntie for village fit change your life completely more than one week of Google search.
I agree that Google and internet has made things faster and gives us plenty options but like you said information no be the same as understanding. Google fit tell you how to do marriage but na elder go tell you why marriage no be bed of roses and how to endure am.
Google can give you fact but elders go give you context, character and patience wey book or internet no fit teach.

There are traditional answers google can never provide to you, especially about your roots, in that case you must consultant your elders. In terms of information, the internet is an avenue the reach information deposited by both elders and the young alike, so over the internet, we are still consulting elders who have finished their works and uploaded their wealth of experience to the internet for access to a wider audience. There are still information you desire that the elders are ignorant of and the internet becomes your only reference point at such situations.

When it comes to tradition, then the elders becomes the valid point of contact, because the information they have may have never found its way to the internet and it would be very customized based on where you're from. You cannot learn the depths of your culture online which still validates the importance of elders. So both online and elders can provide answers and understanding based on the context of information you desire
