Xenophobic attacks on foreigners. South Africa a nation that is not grateful.

With the recent outbreak of yet another xenophobic attacks targeting foreigners most especially Nigerian, Zimbabwe, Botswana etc. It very sad to once again see Africans fighting themselves killing themselves burning properties worth millions of dollars, I just watched a clip of foreigners been treated as criminal in South Africa. It appears to me that the south African population seems bitter towards foreigners.


After looking critically at this whole issue, it seems to me that even the government of South Africa is in support of it because times with out numbers the government has watched their citizens do all these nonsense with their security personnel watching from a distance. They are saying that these foreigner are taking jobs from them that they should leave their land especially Nigerians which is at the center of the attacks. Already alot of countries have started to evacuate their citizens from South Africa. Country like Zimbabwe, Botswana has closed their borders with South Africa and has even cut off electric supply to parts of south Africa were they supply electricity.

After looking at this whole situation play out and seeing the government of South Africa not taking a strong measure to end this killing committed by their citizens and only giving frenzy excuses. It seems to me that South Africans don't know were they are coming from, they have forgotten how the rest of Africa stood by them and helped forced the apataied system in south Africa to a stop. Nigerians they are killing and calling criminals were at the forefront infact Nigeria was the one funding the ANC by deducting monies from salaries of their civil servants and sending it to fund the activities of the ANC and standing against the white rule in South Africa.

South Africa is going on a very wrong part because till today the economy of South Africa is been fueled by different African countries. Already many African countries has started the process of cutting of deplomatic ties with South Africa. In fact a Nigerian senator has called for the band and boycotting of MTN, DSTV and other South African companies operating in Nigeria in response to the attack on Nigerians.

It seems to me that South African has not leant history very well and do they don't know the role that was played by these foreigners that they are trying to throw out of the country, it seems to me that South Africans are not greatfull and the popular saying that they are lazy is true, why these foreigners are doing legitimate business, paying tax and so is even contributing to the economic development of the country. This is not a welcoming development because this types of moves will lead to
Weakening Africa United, Cause Deplomatic tension, Economic damage , Cause a regional and Humanitarian crisis. It seems to me that South Africa is calling the rest of Africa fools for helping liberate them from bondages.

It's quite sad to see once again, the xenophobic activities going on in South Africa. But I would like to think that the majority of South Africans aren't xenophobic and all the xenophobia is being done by a small but visible percentage of the total population.
Economic hardship, perhaps coupled with an increase in the unemployment rate in the country helps to fuel the xenophobic activities taken by some supposed aggrieved people. And watching some videos online, it does seem the government isn't doing nearly enough to curb this menace.

I think it's also sad to see a Nigerian senator, a leader who in my opinion, should know better than to add fuel to the fire and calling for the withdrawal of licenses and boycott of some big South African companies operating in the country. We shouldn't forget in a hurry that these companies has on their employee payroll, tens of thousands of Nigerians. If these companies close up shop in the country, it would surely affect their profit margins, but it would have a crushing blow on the Nigerian economy as well as suddenly, there would be thousands of people out of work and into the job market.
With the already high unemployment rate in the country, I bet that senator, still enjoying the largesse flowing into his pockets due to blatant corruption wouldn't care nor do anything to address the situation.
Calmer heads needs to prevail in this situation.

Similar things like this happen all over the continent yet people still believe in the Gaddafi's "One African country dream". A laughable dream because it's exactly the kind of a dream a tyrant would dream about.
Africa doesn't need to be one country to work, it need the diiferent coutries to have proper education, be productive and the government to actually do their jobs and not remain the most corrupt people on earth.
Africans needs to stop blaming the West and look within because the biger part of the problem is from within. If the problem within is handled then, the external problem would also be handled.

Politicians in Africa have somehow succefully made the people to blame someone else for the cause of their problem. This has taken the blame away from the politicians, who are the actual cause of the current poor state of Africa. In some countries, they blame the West; in South Africa, they blame foreigners. People always look for who to blame for their issues, and most times they blame the most convenient people, instead of facing the truth.

In South Africa, the whites, who make up only about 10% of their population, own and control about 85% of personal wealth while also owning and controlling over 70% of agricultural lands, but it is easier to blame foreigners because that is who they can see and touch, so why not?

This action is not called for from my own view because it's a collective of individual bodies that build up the development of every nation provided they have a good governance, because most of the problems and hardship, lack of employment opportunities many people are facing today at their country is the cause of their government because they are not doing things the way they should be done.
Any economy that is failed today, watch very there is a higher corruption in that particular country which they should be that holding their leaders to make things right and not by killing innocent people who has only come to contribute to the development of their country.

I'm not sufficiently familiar with what's actually happening on the ground to give a strong opinion, but it seems it's unfair to count past favors as a valid reason for a people to not react even if oppressed. I'm not saying South Africans are oppressed; all I'm saying is that past favors were done because they were the right thing to do at that time.

In any case, surely, there must be something wrong. Perhaps there's indeed a shortage of local jobs, and that the presence of foreign workers employed locally makes a wrong impression on them. Perhaps the South African government should find a good balance between accommodating foreign companies and ensuring the locals have access to the jobs they create.

It is really a wake up call for most African countries, it is time for them to start developing their countries, so that people can remain in their country and live a comfortable life instead of moving to South African, where it is seem as if  the pasture is greener over there. It is not enough to say you want to boycott South Africans companies like MTN, DStv, Gotv the rest of it, it is rather a time for African countries to self-reflect, what is it that is in South Africa that is attracting people to that destination for a permanent state, why can't other African countries attract this sort of mass movement to their own various countries. Xenophobic attack is barbaric but his high time we look inwards from most African countries.

It's really concerning that this xenophobic attack is becoming a repeated thing for South Africa channeling its strength on its fellow Africans, with the accusations of fellow Africans taking the jobs meant for their people in their land.

You can imagine such a statement coming from South African citizens. Is it something to hate on, to have other African citizens in your country that legally migrated to come work in your country, whereas your own citizens travel to other countries to hustle for themselves and their families.

Well, I don't blame the South Africans, I blame the African countries governments who are not governing as they are meant to, to lead their citizens rightly, to provide them with jobs, the basic amenities, and to safeguard their lives and properties, and above all, to value their lives. Because I can't find a reason why South Africa will act this way with Africa union reacting immediately to them to stop the hate. However, I am sure that the hate South Africa had for their fellow Africans, they can't try on the whites on their land. They will deal with them if they try it.

People are not attacked in South Africa just because they are foreigners, but because they have the appearance of being rich. South Africans are attacked in their own homes and out on the street every day because there are certain poor people who think criminality is the only route to achieving wealth. This violence is not exclusive to foreigners but materializes from a whole continent that lives on much lower salaries than elsewhere in the world and a fragmented justice system with not enough police enforcers. There would never be enough police to defend against every crime, so you have to take precautions appropriate to your environment, however there are plenty of foreigners out there who apply the standards of their home country to a place that is much more lawless - you have to place a little bit of blame on this naivete.

It is just unfortunate that south Africa are launching another xenophobic attack on African precisely Nigerians forgetting that those jobs they claim it's theirs, where created by those foreigners. Study shows that South Africans are very lazy and are unwilling to work hard not create employment opportunity. All they only know is enjoyment, drinking, smoking, womanizing and all that. But foreigners are working their ass out just to do something meaningful, only for this South Africans to realize that foreigners are gradually taking over because they are the ones giving the indigens work, they are now afraid that if this continues, they will become slave in their own country, that's why you see this xenophobic attack.

Almost every country that is going through economic problems blames immigrants. We have seen it happen in Europe, Africa, Asia, America, and other parts of the world. So the South African case is not isolated. Ghana, Nigeria and some parts of North Africa have sent back immigrants because they were brainwashed by politicians that immigrants were the problem.

My problem with the South African style is the violence. Attacking immigrants violently and destroying their businesses is going too far. It was the government that failed to protect the borders from influx of illegal immigrant, so they should be held repsonsible. I saw a video of immigrants who have valid documents, yet they were under attack.

South Africa has been a welcoming country. But corruption in government has destroyed a once-prosperous economy. Out of frustration, citizens are believing lies and acting like wild animals.

The attack is no more about illegal immigrants, it is about every black foreigners from the country to leave. They do not like how foreigners are prospering in their country and probably also marrying their women.

About the recent videos the South African government denied it : South Africa condemns 'fake videos' of alleged xenophobic attacks

But I do not think I can believe the South African government.
