The chances of this happening are very low, because Bitcoin addresses are mostly copied where the chances of mistakes are very low, if the address was typed manually then there might have been a possibility of mistakes in the transaction. Especially when trading valuable coins like Bitcoin, the pairs are very careful. Still, if someone sends Bitcoin to the wrong address, it is like losing it.

I often imagine that if someone mistakenly sent a few hundred or a few thousand BTC to my address, then I would back it up by keeping a picture of the wallet. At least I would be happy for a while to see such a large amount of Bitcoin in my wallet.

I remember receiving dust in what was a spam attack in 2014 or 2015. A few times people were sending lots of people 0.001 Bitcoin which was literally pennies at the time. It’s a lot more now and perhaps a lesson to all of us not to waste Bitcoin as it vastly appreciates in value over time.

Not Your Keys, Not Your Bitcoin

I think some people may have received Bitcoin in their wallets from unknown wallets. As for me, I've never experienced that.
However, if you find Bitcoin in your wallet sent from an unknown wallet, you should find out who the sender is and return it to them. After all, it's not your right to hold the Bitcoin and claim it as your own. Even if you can't find the sender, you have no right to use it since it's not yours, so you can leave the Bitcoin in your wallet until the owner can contact you.

You don't need the sender to send back th Bitcoin, if someone send you Bitcoin and you know nothing about such transaction, it's either you leave the output unspent, don't touch it. If you are very familiar with coin control and address reuse, this is the best time to put it on good course. However, if you feel like returning it is the best option, send back to the same wallet address that send you the Bitcoin and anyone that controls the key will get the Bitcoin.

I will not be morally concern when someone send Bitcoin to me, that word doesn't exist on the network, I control the key and not anyone. Most often when Bitcoin is send to you, it's usually means to track you or involved you in a laundering scam. I mean, you can never see a person do mistake and send Bitcoin to wrong address, the only exception time this happen is when scammer makes victims download malware that's the likelihood of wallet address changes happen and Bitcoin will be sent to scammer. If you receive Bitcoin by any chance, you should be scared of spending that coin for your privacy and security reasons.

Me!
Many times!
In my (hot Grin ) dreams!
Then I just wake up, get a coffee and look my wallet starving...
LOL Grin
Of course this could really happens (and even on the forum we have seen this). It's really sad don't give funds back to sender in case there is a mistake for sure.

Bitcoin mining with dreams would be the ultimate thing though. Imagine if we could utilize the power of our brains to mine Bitcoin while we sleep Cheesy

I know it is impossible due to the intensive energy required for mining but one can still dream Tongue...

The only similar dreams I had were nightmares where my internet access kept lagging so I could not click the buy Bitcoin button on a cryptocurrency exchange while the price of Bitcoin was going into the hundreds of millions within seconds.... Lips sealed Shocked

Woke up angry at my internet provider  Grin

This is true, because in my life I have never see such thing before. And if it happens I'm not going to see it as a coincident but intensional act maybe from a scammer who is trying to move funds from someone account maybe he don't want to put his wallet in danger, at that point he might decide to send it in any available wallet that he knows the right owner with the hope of reaching out to the person later for a refund. And after that the person that received the funds will now bear the cross, of course this is exactly how some people's reputation got ruined by scammers.

I'm a world where every corner fills with hungry people, thieves,  bandits, and organ harvesters, you expect anyone to not touch such money? That's impossible, 99% of people would.move that Bitcoin and sell it.

There is even a possibility that the bitcoin is stolen, this can get anyone is trouble, because they can stupid enough to sell via centralised exchange, and they will be tracked down, the sender might do this to distract those who are tracking the bitcoin.

Freebies are always a trap, if something like this happen to me I am abandoning the Bitcoin wallet, or highest I send it all back to the owner because I understand the risks involved, it's possible that someone mistakenly send the bitcoin but the chances are Slimer.

There is still a possibility of copying the wrong address so if you just paste it without checking it then the chances of sending bitcoin to the wrong address is never zero. Don't just check the beginning and end but rather check every letter especially if the amount you are about to send is massive. There is no such thing as being paranoid when it comes to money.

Did somebody ever received a BTC amount by accident ... This is a stupid question with the developpement of Technology ... But who nows I mean did someone received it previously  ...personally i swear god that i will send it back that is the right thing to do Wink .............

I myself have never received free Bitcoin from someone who sent it to me by mistake. I'm hoping someone will send me my walled Bitcoin, but so far it hasn't happened. Cheesy
I've often read about cases where people have sent BTC to the wrong person and it was successfully returned because the recipient was kind, but that's very rare. Most are lost forever.

That's one of the risks in Bitcoin that we must avoid. If you send Bitcoin by mistake your assets are completely lost and almost impossible to recover unless the recipient voluntarily returns them. This is because Bitcoin is immutable and cannot be reversed as every transaction confirmed on the blockchain is final.
A mistyped Bitcoin address for example by a single character usually leads to an unknown address or even an address that has never been used. So, rather than waiting for someone to send Bitcoin to the wrong person, it's better to be vigilant about this potential risk when making transactions.

Bitcoin transactions from the human input point could result in mistakes. Let's say a bounty manager could mistakenly send funds to someone who copied the requirement from the comment of another participant without editing it back with their own Bitcoin address. These things happen and the fund that was meant for the person who copied is sent to the person they copied. That is a typical example of how that could happen here.

Some of us have mistakenly received fiat from people we once transacted with. It is still possible that someone who has your address would send funds to you by mistake while trying to send it to someone else.

I share the tought and yes 1- we have to be carefull with money like always (BTC is money Smiley) ... 2- The other part or the person who got your bucks is highly determining whether you can hope to get your money back or not !

I think it is absolutely impossible to send Bitcoin to the wrong address and I have never been lucky in my crypto life. You may not get a reliable address by changing just one or two numbers. But imagine that you trade from your wallet to many exchanges so there can be many times when it goes to another wallet by mistake but of course that is also your wallet. Every account has a valid checksum address so even if you change the letters from the recipient's address it can still fail. I made a mistake once because I copied the address from one address but it didn't copy but was copied to another. However, I always double check the last few letters from the address before making a transaction.

It's more likely to send a transaction by mistake, or due to hacking, than to receive one, and the probability of this happening depends on what you did to send it. If you copied and pasted the address because someone else made a mistake, it's more common than you accidentally typing it manually. If you type it manually, you'll consciously check it several times to make sure you haven't made a mistake. If you still proceed, you'd have to overcome the second hurdle, which is that it's a valid address, and the chances of passing the checksum are low. If you still accidentally entered a valid address, the final step is that the address already has an owner; that would be an enormous coincidence. Most likely, you've burned the coin.

No, I have never received any coins in my wallets accidentally. These days it is hard to find money on the road, and you think someone would send you Bitcoin by accident haha. Well, fun aside, I actually did send my coins to someone else by mistake, but it was not Bitcoin. I sent altcoins because I mistakenly chose the wrong network. That network was not supported yet, so my coins were gone. Once, I was meant to receive a reward from a bounty. I worked on this forum, and I don't know how my address got replaced by someone else’s, and he received my reward.

I did everything to locate that person, so basically I just searched the wallet address on Google, and where it was mentioned, those pages were shown. That address was mentioned on a Twitter page, and I messaged that person on Twitter but got no response. Also, that address was too old and had zero outgoing transactions.

Anyway, never keep the funds you receive from someone else. Try to return them through official possible ways because you don't know what game the other person is playing, so be safe and don't be too quick to take actions. Whatever your actions are going to be, think before sending anything back too.

Did somebody ever received a BTC amount by accident ... This is a stupid question with the developpement of Technology ... But who nows I mean did someone received it previously  ...personally i swear god that i will send it back that is the right thing to do Wink .............

This cannot happen unless the address is on the beneficiary list of the sender.
I have not heard of anyone who received Bitcoin from an unknown sender because the likelihood of it happening is low.
It is easy for you to say you would send it back by spoken word. If eventually something of that nature happens, I doubt you will return it to the rightful owner. Most especially if the Bitcoin is around 2 Bitcoin or more.

 100 % With you on this !

I did everything to locate that person, so basically I just searched the wallet address on Google, and where it was mentioned, those pages were shown. That address was mentioned on a Twitter page, and I messaged that person on Twitter but got no response. Also, that address was too old and had zero outgoing transactions.

The sad part !

Dont doubt!  ..... but you can think what you want ....i had been in hell once time ago ... i feel that i have to do the right thing whatever it takes ...

However, I always double check the last few letters from the address before making a transaction.

that is the magic potion. !
