Foreigners are always put into consideration because they are not citizens, as not every part of the constitution of a foreign country they would know, so the law would grant them a lesser punishment based on the offense committed.
Here in our country, so much depends on your role or participation in the crime you committed. If you are the owner of the illegal casino, you should be charged in court and be punished, but if you are a worker and they force you to work, or you have been recruited for a professional job but end up being an illegal casino worker, then you will just be deported.

Not complying with regulations in a country may also be due to their ignorance. If they come for vacation or for business, they surely have time to return to their country. Unfortunately, the application they use might already be under law enforcement surveillance. They are platform users, and the casino server may be online outside of Indonesia. Even if guilty, those caught may only receive a light punishment, or fines and deportation.

In the Constitution, ignorance is not an excuse in the eyes of the law, so anyone who fails to comply with the law will go in for it. Although some countries consider, to some extent, the gravity of the offence with a lesser punishment as enshrined in the constitution. Foreigners are always put into consideration because they are not citizens, as not every part of the constitution of a foreign country they would know, so the law would grant them a lesser punishment based on the offense committed.

That’s what I mean, there must be a category that will lighten their punishment in the case. I don’t believe that the violation committed by foreign citizens will result in the maximum penalty. Unless, in that case they were caught running an illegal casino business there. The punishment could become very serious for them.

According to the article, Indonesia arrested 321 foreign nationals who were linked to an international online casino network in Jakarta. The article also mentioned that they identified around 75 domains and websites suspected of facilitating online gambling, and they also said that the platforms used specific characters and labelling strategies to evade being blocked.
So this quite a normal steer on gambling sites everywhere. Like your curiosity bro, I am too imagine they able to identified 75 domains whoch are responsible for this.

In any case this should be made public so users were able to help and potentially discover even more operating illegally. I wonder if my co7ntryman involved on those foreign nationals arrested. Do they have some more specific details lile list of names or even nationalities involved in this?

Okay, so if I understand correctly, those hundreds of foreigners who were in Indonesia—whether on vacation or living there—have been gambling online even though it’s illegal there? I don’t know what’s going through people’s heads; if I went to Indonesia, the last thing I’d think of doing is gambling. It seems that for a lot of people, gambling is like a drug.

All I can say is, as a gambler planning to relocate or travel to a different country, find out their gambling laws and see if going there will be convenient for you. What may seem common in your home country may not be same in other countries. Imagine being treated as a criminal in another man's land all because of gambling.

That's right—if gambling is something you absolutely can't do without in your life, don't go there. And if you're on vacation, try to resist the urge while you're there. And if you do go there, don't gamble. It's that simple.

That’s what I mean, there must be a category that will lighten their punishment in the case. I don’t believe that the violation committed by foreign citizens will result in the maximum penalty. Unless, in that case they were caught running an illegal casino business there. The punishment could become very serious for them.

Not all crimes committed by foreign citizens would be dealt with maximally depending on the gravity of the offence, but if it happens that it is an intentional crime ie the foreigner knows that such activity is against the law and has been running such an undercover activity which is illegal in the country to his or her full knowledge, then I do not think the punishment for such an offence would be light because it is a clear and intentional violation of the laws of the land and would be greeted with a severe response from the government.

It's one thing if a group of foreigners organized an illegal gaming syndicate with all the consequences. Then, they will likely face the full penalty as citizens of the country in which they committed the offense. In such cases, embassies of other countries intervene and can either help prevent punishment or receive a shorter sentence. Gaming industry laws change frequently, and it doesn't seem to be for the better for players.

In cases such as this, embassies would definitely intervene on behalf of their citizens in that country for a lesser punishment, but they can not go scot free for the crimes they have committed in the country, unless it is a minor offense that could be pardoned and let go.
Policies or laws surrounding games seem too strict, as nations are beginning to look for ways to make sure their citizens do not get all over it this time. They just want to protect their citizens from cases regarding addiction and all other issues as it pertains to gambling.
