The younger generation doesn't want to work at all now. They even come up with strange concepts like Ghosting, this is when they get tired of working and they just leave the workplace and never show up there again. My generation would have mistaken such an act for the complete inadequacy of such an employee, and they would have written in his workbook that he was incompetent, after which no one would have hired him for a new job. But now in big cities it is considered even almost normal. It is strange that the future of countries depends on such young people who do not want to develop a career but only think about rest.

It's just terrible that people don't want to work, but they want to get paid. Some of them end up depending on the government for welfare for survival. We are seeing an increase in the rate of youths who spend time on social media rather than engaging in profitable ventures. In schools, they no longer study but depend on AI for assistance with examinations and tests. Sometimes I wonder the kind of teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc that this young generation will produce.

This is closely associated with the education policies, unemployment and industrial growth of a country. If these are mismatched, the youth will not get jobs, remain unemployed, crime rates will rise and loss of life will follow.

Governments and their policies are responsible for this and we cannot directly take part in trying to correct it other than voting or moving to a different place to live. Often parents will understand that the government is going downhill and try to motivate their children in moving out. This is bad for them but good for the next generation. Blame it on the governments out there.

I don't think it is possible to generalize it this way and it is unfair to do so as well. There is no perfect generation, there would be industrious individuals as well as those who are not so much, it is normal. As far as i know, people didn't start becoming ghost workers nowadays, it has been happening for a very long time, even amongst the older workforce.

A large proportion of young people among the population in a poor economy is more likely to lead to social upheaval in society than to development and economic growth. Moreover, in a situation of hidden unemployment and rising prices, even for basic needs, young people become aware of the lack of prospects. Therefore, the narrative of abandoning family and career growth in favor of living for oneself as a person is spreading among young people.

That is, some young people make an informed choice: rent, not mortgages (mortgages are slavery), temporary employment (being among the precariat), and not permanent work with the prospect of career growth. This entails behavioral consequences: abandoning impulsive, unnecessary purchases, abandoning purchases for the sake of "status", gradual liberation from the marketing influence of social networks, and a critical attitude towards advertising. In fact, this is nonviolent resistance (and here it is appropriate to recall Gandhi) to the modern economic system, which strikes directly at the foundation of this system (for example, at such a pillar of the system as status consumption).

Looking at it from the angle that, youths who have not developed skills hugely depend in the economy to provide employment, which then  amounts to economic instability, then you can agree that this could be a bomb waiting to explode, but when we have youth who have developed skill and making innovative moves, we can say that they are the engine of the economy.

The key here is the mentality to develope skills, curbing the need to be dependant on paid jobs, rather becoming employers to a large extent!
This is the key reason why a highly populated country like China, is technologically and economically advancing geometrically because they are an industrialized country whose citizens are very enterprising. Reverse is the case of other highly populated countries where there are no technological advancements, the governments are not productive and there are less technological skill acquisitions for their citizens.

I believe that government have a big role to play if the youths of their country will be enterprising and not expect government to do what they can do for themselves. A government should have skills acquisition centers for it's citizens and equip schools with the right advanced technological aperatus for learning. After graduation let them encourage entrepreneurship and encourage the youths to go into sciences. But unfortunately leaders in these countries only send their children abroad to good schools in developed countries. Same reason their youths are also making all the efforts to migrate to developed countries for better life.

Young generation wants the easy thing to earn money and don't want to work hard and smart. They see it is easy to make money from the internet so they follow other young generation and thinks they can get the same.

If they don't learn more skills, how to earn money from internet and only follow without preparing, they will desperate and not earn money at all. Young generation familiar with gadget and no doubts that they can use it without problems but they don't thinks about how to use their gadget becoming productive for them.

We can see how they will proud showing their gadget but they don't have much skills and only use their gadget to chat, upload nonsense video to their social media just to achieve high viewers without thinks how they can earn money from that. It is sadly seeing that so they must change their mindset and start thinking to change their lives.

Youth generation is very different compared to their parents especially from the mentality because old generation usually have strict parents which educates them to be disciplined and this method is succesfully to makes the parents more strong especially from the mentality but youth generation feel if this method implemented to them they will feel having cruel parents and the long term effect is those youth mostly lazy to rely on their skill for everything in their life eventually they rely on the parents plenty

In my country the goverment are encourage to the citizen to limit the number of children per family especially for poor people and the reason is because the economy condition makes those people will don't have the ability to feed their families with decent food and provide a decent education for their children's future besides that if large number of youth generation increases for every year potentially we will see more people jobless because the number of job opportunities is lower than population growth

In addition population is not advantage by itself rather what matters most is the quality of people that are inside the population, and talk about skills if high number of youths don't have opportunities or skills it can turn out to be pressure to the economy instead of strength but if they are skills, well educated, and aid to create value, that same youth population can still become a growth booster. So the focus should not be on the numbers of youths but how well they're prepared or ready innovate, contribute and create opportunities for themselves, others and the economy
In other words the fight should be both on the quality and quantity because both are very sensitive when measuring productivity if all things being equal for a good and better economy, achieving this the government has a major role to play by building a good foundation to which even the increasing youth population can be accommodated, good human capital development and sensitization programs should be rooted in the life of every growing child, so many of the youth have a lot to offer but are limited to do so because they lack the necessary resources, the youth are also the strength of an economy but they cant do it all alone.

Youth now don’t want to work hard , everyone want easy way to make money ,many don’t want to acquire skills not knowing that is what can help with the way the country is going , the rate at which the younger generation spend time on the network if they put it in something doing it will profit them a lot , they just want everything with ease , even to study is difficult instead they engage in examinations malpractices, most don’t even attend lectures, some even sleeping  with their lecturers for grade , you will see a young beautiful lady that will tell she doesn’t want to work but she need a man that can take good care of her,  no matter the population of a country if  the young generation and government are not competent, it will always go south .

But when you critically look at this a high population doesn't necessarily guarantee a successful economic future, infact it can be seen as a potential economic time bomb.

I do believe education is still relevant. Whether academic or vocational, there’s still got to be some learning involved however if the youth population is rising but so is educational crisis and juvenile rates then it’s not a good sign at all. The youth needs a system that helps them too.

Youth population paired with a high degree of ignorance.
Age in that case does not matter. Those youth eventually will be elders.
Ignorance is the meanest factor in development.

Not everyone is the same, but yes, there are distractions like social media and now Artificial intelligence that are making the younger generation lazy. To be honest, if any young teenager doesn't want to work, doesn't have any ambitions in life, I would rather blame his parents than himself.

It is more the parents' responsibility to keep their children on track and tell them they have to work hard if they want to achieve anything in life. Without work, they are just a burden in society and nothing else.

https://thebftonline.com/2024/04/23/global-trends-in-population-of-young-people/

The problem with this youth population growth is that developing nations would experience more. This means that more people with less access to education, skills, and capital would be the dominant youth population. This might be the reason why there is a high rate of immigration to developed nations because of poverty, insecurity, and other problems in developing nations.

If the necessary steps are not taken, this youth population growth with turn out to be a time bomb.

It's already a blown out bomb in my country, those people who are killing Christians are all youths, they are between age of 16 to 30+, the few that was killed and caught ars around this age.

Their leaders are using them all for jihad purposes, promising them a better place in heaven if they die trying to kill other innocent people who don't want to convert to islam and accept all their stupid laws.

Terrorists, criminals, and others, that are caught in my country are always youths, the lack of good job and salary have turned many youths into monsters, they are willing to do anything for money this days.

The youth population will be a time bomb for the better or worse future of a country depending on the government itself, because basically the most important point when the youth population surges and wants to help in economic growth, the government really needs to provide better access to education, and also skills training, which when the government provides these dual things then the youth population can be an advantage, for example in my country, my country has a huge demographic bonus, in the data it is estimated that there are 66 million people from the total population, but access to education and skills training is uneven which makes unemployment increase.

reality is something else. Youth spoiled by governmental hand outs demands just more,
Hardly ever they demand to get schooled better. the 21 th century is a century of laziness.

I think this is a big problem that doesn't get nearly enough attention. Developed countries have extremely low fertility rates, while poor countries have extremely high ones. This creates huge social problems in the global north, where there are not enough new ethnic stock for each nation to keep their social programs humming along. Social Security in America for example assumed net positive population growth over time-- not an inverted pyramid with an ever shrinking workforce supporting an aging population of retirees.

There's also massive damage done to countries cultural and genetic heritage when they have to rely on immigration to fill the void created by low fertility. The natives feel threatened, and the newcomers often fail to assimilate. I used to think this was just a problem plaguing the west, but most of Asia is in the same boat as us. This is a rather sobering chart...

What the youths really need to be productive and contribute economically to the society is just a good system created by the government to facilitate efficiency and income irrespective of the fields of endeavor these youths find themselves in, because we know how employment is scarce and this why youths need to be creative in a way forward and then the government in their own way helps to make such creativity flourish with a proper investment enabling system in place for support.

When government support and systems are faulty and lacking and corruption in government becomes the order of the day, the leaders of tomorrow who are the youths, gets lazy and seek ways to exit the country to other well developed economies for jobs or they involve themselves in illicit and fraudulent activities just to earn and live well mostly in economics where the corruption has eaten far into the fabrics of the society.

Here, as in everything, in my opinion, balance is necessary. 🙋

A very large youth population is guaranteed to lead a country to revolution or civil war. Young people possess a quality called "passion." It's a vital energy aimed at changing the world. At the same time, young people lack the life experience and knowledge to change the existing world in a peaceful and civilized manner. Young people are usually driven by sexual instincts, which stimulate aggressive behavior.

On the other hand, a small youth population is also very bad. First of all, it collapses the pension system. The pension system in many countries is typically based on young people essentially financially supporting the elderly. And when they themselves age, they are financially supported by a new generation of young people. However, if the birth rate falls and the youth population dwindles, the pension system collapses. It's not surprising that many developed Western countries have raised the retirement age. This is not only because healthcare has improved and people are living longer.  Some experts in Western countries believe that the development of robotics and artificial intelligence will help alleviate the problem of youth population decline. Whether they are right or not, we will know much later, not now.

The issue becomes clearer when viewed from Bangladesh's perspective. Our country has a very large youth population but the problem is that education and skill development are not growing at the same pace. Many graduates are coming out every year, but many remain unemployed due to lack of practical skills as per the demand of the job market. This is why it is not certain that the economy will be strong just by having a large youth population. Another big issue is that now many young people depend entirely on the government sector for jobs. As a result competition increases, and frustration also increases. However if the focus on tech, small business or skill based work increases, the pressure could be reduced to some extent.
