I don't think confidence is needed in gambling, because confidence can't make us win in gambling, even if you have a lot of confidence before making a bet. If your luck is bad, then you can't win that bet only because of confidence; gambling is luck-based, and those who have good luck can win without confidence. There is no difference between revenge gambling and chasing loses, chasing of loses happens when the gambler keep betting and trying to recover his loses, this lingers for long till such person becomes addicted. Revenge gambling can be problematic when you lose control. A Gambler who lacks self control will definitely get addicted. Another thing is that a person that get angry or annoyed excessively don't need to gamble.

Nobody can have full confidence in a bet, because no bookmaker would offer a bet with a predetermined outcome above 1.00x odds as they would lose money. What remains is analysis, on the one side the bookmaker is probably using a shared odds provider in the background with a bit of room to change the margins around but a lot of analysis goes into those calculations because a lot of money is at stake. They are pretty good at what they do and as long as a bookmaker does not take too many lopsided bets (more "uncovered" cash on one side than the other) then they should stay profitable. Versus you, who might follow a sport closely and have reasonable knowledge but can't possibly compete with the deep statistical analysis across all teams and players in a particular sport - we have very big egos but unless you're tracking a profit chances are you've got misplaced confidence.

Confidence will never help you win in any game but it will give you the courage to take risks. When you do not have confidence, you will not have the courage to make big bets and will not have the courage to take some decisions but if you have confidence, you can easily take any risk due to which you can win big from there. But confidence will never make you win in a special way. In the case of gambling, I always have a confidence that I can control myself and there is no possibility of getting addicted to gambling. And another thing is that I am confident that if I lose the amount of money I am using there, it will not have a big impact on my financial situation. Apart from that, I cannot have confidence in anything else in gambling.

I stopped having confident in my bet long ago, all I do is just to bet and then leave it for luck to make the final say, because if you're being confident in your bet you will keep panicking and the funniest part is, that team you trust the most is always the betrayer of course this has happened to me several times in gamble and you needed to see how disappointed I was seeing that the team whom i trust is the one betraying me even those that I thought they can't win even end well it was only that very one I trusted with all of me. if you don't want to feel disappointed in gambling stop having confident in your bet or game.

Not everyone knows that the game is all about a 50/50 chance because some persons feel like they can force their way to winning and in the end they find out the hard way. In sports betting prediction is all about probability, not because we have a strong skill in team analysis we are able to predict the right outcome,  Please remember that there is always a variable in sports.  There is always an unseen thing that can possibly happen anytime that can affect the result of the game.  

For example in a match where Team A is observed to be dominant but along the game time their ace player happen to get an injury or many of their players seems to wake up on the wrong side of the bed missing the goal even if the field is open to make such goal.

So with that I always observe to get a 50/50 chance of winning my bet.

No I won't increase my bet.  I would rather go with my usual bet than increasing it just because I have the confidence that I will win.  This often time bring more losses than having a 2-3 losing streak.  Because if we raise the bet and win, we might end up with that habit of raising bet because we are confident when there is no assurance that our bet will win.

If ever your cited situation happen, I will just revert to my normal betting.  It is always best to let go of the losses, it is hard to be trapped in a revenge gambling, it will dry our bankroll instantly.
