The fear of biased voting result is an indication of tension between the peoplle and the moral perspectives of the entire society. When a majority turn away gambling, it can be an indicator that they are conscious of the social dangers that much more than money are involved. Well, it is indeed true that we need to be more careful in using our wealth such that we are not tempted to waste it by engaging in speculative activities which in most cases destroy our future.
Voting will never be fair, because we have less gamblers than people who dont gamble. We only hear positive about gambling, when someone wins jackpot, and even then most of people are jealous. Rest of content about gambling we get are mostly negative. Non-gamblers will vote against, some of gamblers will vote against because they have lost or think casinos treated them unfair, and only minority will vote for. For gambling to get legalized by voting, it is a loss for gambling industry from the start.
Result will still be in favor of banning the gambling industry. Because gambling had bad reputation and many non gamblers dislike it. So I guess its good that there's some legal entities handle this matter.
Since they can provably decide whether if gambling is doing not only for their economy also with their people or there's nothing to gain from this industry. If people will not became greedy and doing self destructive activities while gambling maybe they won't experience those big problems. Also people will not think that gambling is 100% bad, but rather there are people will say that its good form getting entertainment.
