Best advice, take some time to go through the milestone of what Bitcoin is and have archived. It will help you understand why you have to make the decision of using your money to purchase it.

This is a common problem for people who are just starting, even me, before I experienced this. Most people treat this as a "lesson"; you commonly hear this from new people who are starting to be a trader or investor in Bitcoin or in any market.
I'm totally against here because there's a hard earned mony involved for a lesson, it's an expensive lesson.

Long term mean 5-10 years? Because the definition of "long-term" depends on the investor. Same with medium-term and short-term.

If you will ask here, the majority here will say to you that "you should invest it instead of just storing it on a bank because inflation will eat your money blah blah" and TBH, I'll agree with them, but always take note, always take note that there's a risk when it comes to investing so think of it first. If you will ask me though, it's better to risk your money into assets like Bitcoin and even the Stock Market indices than storing it in a bank where they give you a lower interest compared to the inflation rate of your country. The downside though is that, there will be times where you might see your investment going down because of how volatile the crypto market is, but as long as you're okay with it, and you put it into Bitcoin then everything is fine... at least in the long term.

If you want to learn more about Bitcoin, there's many information online that will help you. Everything that you need if you're a newbie can be seen online. I started learning online and nobody helped me at that time except YouTube documentaries and this forum so if I did, you can as well. As for the possible effect, there's a chance that you will feel emotional if you see your portfolio going down because of how volatile Bitcoin is, but I think aside from that, there's no negative effect to you whatsoever.
