In the first instance, many gamblers gamble only for entertainment, while there are some gamblers who gamble only with friends on various issues, and there are some gamblers who gamble in the hope of making small profits. However, these issues only become problematic when a gambler loses control and the issue is no longer limited to entertainment, but gradually becomes an addiction.
As long as a gambler is in control of his gambling and accepts the benefits and losses as normal, things are fine, but the situation is different when a gambler tries his best to recover his lost money and gambles aggressively. If the obsession to recover the lost money arises in the mind of a gambler, then he uses more money and gambles aggressively, but the money he uses later loses the money, as a result of which he is no longer able to make good decisions in gambling. This type of gambling is usually called "chasing losses" and these things are usually the main signs of addiction to the game.
The right decision in gambling depends a lot on the mental state of the gambler. If a gambler cannot control his emotions and if the gambler is under excessive tension or if the gambler is in a state of mental distress and if the gambler decides to gamble in the midst of these, then he will not be able to make the right decision at that time, as a result of which he will become more excited and lose more money due to the successive results going against him, which will lead him to gambling addiction.
I think the most important thing for a responsible gambler is to be aware of his limits. That is, a gambler should determine in advance how much money he will gamble with in his free time or on a specific day, and if he loses that amount of money gambling, he should refrain from gambling for that day and wait for the next day. If a gambler loses in more than one gamble, he should take a break and try to find out the reasons why he lost, so that he does not lose again for the same reason in the future.

It's easier said that done though. I mean when we started our gambling journey, yeah we can say that we will just play to have some fun. Maybe there are some individuals that can stick to it. I know someone who we teaches on how to beat on some games. But still, he insists that gambling is not for him. Maybe he has self-discipline? We don't know, perhaps his mind is already close on gambling and even if there are outside influence like the rest of his friends including myself, he didn't gamble at all.
But if there are someone who says that he just gambling for the entertainment then how can he fall for the addiction? So it means that the individual contradicts himself and that he wants to win money that's why the cycle starts and there are no stopping from it as he turns into addiction.

Im one of those gambler that really consider gambling a relaxation part of my life. I often play in casino and plans to enjoy or relax there. Of course in my mind I will either lose or win from staying there but Im not over to my limits when it comes to budget. Yes thats true that some gamblers might not able to resist playing more than they supposed to cause thats how addiction kicks in and it happened to me before and honestly that kind of urge is really hard to supress and I understand some users having hard time about it. Dave1 was right, its easier said than done.

Most casino games aren't even fun, I believe many people needs money and it's why they found their ways into gambling, they will try to get wha they want by all means until things doesn't work the way they wanted.
Lack of money is why many people turned gambler, entertainment is there but the MIND is a powerful thing, your mind is what will either trap you or set you free, little bit of money desires and more of entertainment, if this isn't your goal anything can happen.
Don't fix your money problem with gambling, this is the biggest mistakes that people still do, gambling isn't meant to be your way out of poverty, it's not a way to build a solid future.

Looking for a reason why a bet is lost is just another characteristic of a gambler that he is an addict, they are the one that will gamble and lose and be looking for the reason he lost so that he can amend it with a better strategy, a strategy that can not work. The best is to have a gambling budget which is very small and no need to be looking for the reason you lost but just have fun.

Either you are gambling for money or for entertainment the moment you lose control of your gambling habit you will become addicted, gambling is addictive so you need to always be in control. The way you lose control in gambling is when you begin to use more money that you can afford to loose, when you begin to chase loses, when you begin to be overconfident and using all your wins to be chasing bigger wins and not knowing when to stop. Whatever your motive for gambling is if you can be able to control these aspects you will not be addicted. Instead of gambling for money because you don't control the outcomes it's better to gamble for fun with small amounts so that you won't be in pressure to recover loses if you you're losing.

Losing your bet isn't a mistake but a norm which make me feel that there's no need for you to start figuring out why you lost your bet. However, there's no prevention measures that can be taken to prevent you from losing your next bet because gambling is a game of luck than experience. The only way to prevent losses is for you to stop gambling.
A gambler should set a weekly budget for his gambling activities and a time limit that will enable him stop at the right time irrespective of the outcome of his gambling session at that moment. Responsible gambling is the only way to prevent you from addiction

What's the need stressing further to find out why you lost a bet when we already knows that gamble is a game of chance and if it didn't go well for you in a particular day then you just have to let it go because you can't force it, of which trying to persist further can only brings you more lost. And again, talking of addiction in gamble, it's not something that just occurs in a day, it's something that takes long process before showcasing as an addiction. What is the process am talking about? constant lost chasing, trying to figure out why you aren't winning your bet and by that exceeding your limit, greed and so many to be mention. All these are things that normally lead someone to gambling addiction. Moreover, gamble addiction has been talked about so many times here and even the newbies that is just coming on board is surpose to have known the implications involved in gambling the wrong way .

I agree with most of the points you mentioned. Although gambling starts for fun for many people, once it gets out of control, it turns into an addiction. The most warning sign of gambling addiction is unsuccessful attempts to recover the money lost. This shows that a gambler starts betting large amounts and makes decisions based on emotions. In this way, after gambling outside his budget, he starts regretting it again. I think gambling is less a problem of losing money, but more a problem of losing control. If someone cannot abide by his set limits, does not want to stop even after losing. If he continues to play with the necessary money without thinking about his family, then that is heading towards addiction.

When the game starter to become a losing a streak even if the amount involved is very small. A human psychology can be easily feel tilted whenever they don’t experience win anymore while the reason we gamble for entertainment is to experience to win.
An addiction to recover loses or chase for profit is frequently happening when our mind was already weakened by these losing streak.
We all know that losing streak will happened eventually and this is the greatest house advantage of the casino aside from the fix house edge of the game.

When does gambling turn from entertainment to addiction? What we have is time, money, and energy! So when gambling is taking too much of your time, money, and energy... when everything else slowly becomes less important...when you forget about everything else... all that is the turning point, and we can say it's the moment when the addiction starts. Chasing losses, emotional gambling, and losing control are all parts of the game... we are not stones to not feel anything. But when you put everything you have (time/energy/money) into gambling and those emotions, you are addicted to the bones, and you don't think/see anything else around you.

Gamblers should aware of his limits use the line not to gamble excessively. But unfortunately many gamblers losing control in gambling, makes them continue gambling without thinks about their losses.
If they don't realize and still doing that, gambling turn from entertainment to addiction sooner or later. They will difficult to control themselves and even they will get addicted to gambling. They will not take a break after losing streak but still insist to recover their losses.
They change their mindset from having fun into chasing the win and makes them addicted to gambling so that is why we must aware of the temptation coming from gambling and must keep control of ourselves.

Gambling isn’t a business venture were you could find the flop in the business, and employ another strategy to amend. This is gambling, that deals with a huge percentage of luck, so trying to find a strategy would obviously not work, rather it would put he in a tighter situation. because he will have the mindset of he could get it right, but at the end of the day he wouldn’t, and by that time he would have lost lot more. The bettter to just have a gambling budget like you said rightly Charles, that would save the whole drama. Once the budget is meant, no more trying or be smart, this is gambling and not business.

When gambling turns to addiction is when folks encourage them self in over gambling and at a long run their money finished on the way to still catch the money that was lost in the process, by so doing the bettors became more confused and lost hope , their by staking more and more just to make sure he recovers his lost money at this point he will be addicted to gambling because he really need to get the lost funds , but at this point if you notice you are still losing even to the extent you still want to recover yet you are still losing hold your self and never stake any further, then you will not be addicted to gambling, but so far you are still pushing just to make sure you catch them back that's when you will be addicted to gambling.

As with any addiction, gambling addiction has a universal marker of onset. This is the moment when gambling begins to cause nervous overexertion rather than pleasure. And of course, the continuous desire to play grows gradually. A person gambles literally every day.
Further, it is a very bad sign when winning does not bring great joy, but is perceived as ordinary. If I win, then my mood improves for the whole day. Even if it's a small amount, let's say $20. So you need to take care of yourself and notice the bad signs on time.

Emotion is a good basis to determine addiction since we are gambling to get some entertainment while removing the fun when the goal is achieved through winning is a serious sign of addiction. People that gambling on regular basis with short intervals are susceptible to this kind of addiction since it became normal already winning and losing. It’s like being a robot with the goal to spend money on gambling without getting the fun.

Anything all matters with control and moderation and this isnt really that only talking about gambling but also in other things as well on which if you arent that good when it comes to discipline then you would definitely be having no issues on whatever you are dealing on, specially with gambling on which this is really that likely for someone to get addicted and this is why its important that you would be needing up to have limits because once you wont really be able to make up such handling to yourself because you would really be ending up on getting addicted and once it do happens then you would be really be that not easy to get out or would be getting out of addiction because most people or addicted ones will be ending up on messing up their lives in terms of finances just because they are really not minding about their actions and just tolerate out their addiction until the last drop of their money and ending up on having those regrets.

Me personally, I have once felt the urge to chase losses when I make one. But when I realized it was a bad move is when I keep on lossing more and more as I chase more. In my head, I will soon win.
The inability to stop chasing losses is addiction for my own definition. Chasing losses as regards to gambling doesn't only apply to gambling. Other aspects too experience these.
What make people lose and still wonna continue could be of a lot of reasons. One I think is pressure. The need to make money.
As an individual who engage me in gambling, you should know your limit and endeavour not to hurt your yourself.
Gambling for fun shifts to addiction when there is no control. As you gambler my advise to you is that, you should also have a plan just like how traders do to actually know when to stop, calm down and assimilate what happened.

It's obvious that the problem of many gamblers is that they begin to lose control whenever they are winning or when they are losing and this is caused by greed. Without greed many people won't have lost a lot of money or even become addicted to gamble at the end of it. Gamble is not entirely bad at all but it's how the gambler handles it that makes it looks bad in public. Honestly, I believe that our emotions are really the problem we have when it comes to gamble because without it many gamblers wouldn't have become addicted to gamble. Although we shouldn't blame gamble at all, but the gamblers that are addicted to gamble because they failed to control their emotions and gamble responsible.

Online there are many of these stories but I have rarely met gamblers with a "real addiciton" in reallife, that can have a serious impact on their finances or personal life. It not means that this should be seen as a real problem but I would just make a difference between a real addiction (that could fit with DSM definition) and just an issue with gambling...
