Participating countries this year are:
Canada, USA, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Slovakia, Latvia, Denmark, Norway, France, Austria, Kazakhstan, Slovenia, Hungary

Curious to hear from the community:

Where do you normally bet during big tournaments like this?
What’s your go-to place or setup when the World Cup games are on?

I’ve also added all upcoming games on WagerX ( will not spam any links, you know where to find it )  in a simple format — no heavy commercial stuff, just clean fixtures and lines so it’s easy to follow the schedule.

I’m a big fan of international hockey myself, so happy to discuss the event with you guys as it moves forward.

I have totally forgotten that IIHF 2026 is behind the corner and first games will be this weekend. OP Forgot to mention that tournament will be help in Switzerland this year, it will give a huge boost of support for their already strong team, so we might get finally get Switzerland winning gold this year. Btw last year they were second.

I see almost new faces, UK and Hungary. It is good that they are in same group and will meet in group stage, otherwise they might get a huge beating and leave tournament disappointed.

Last week I already had warmup, watching how my Lithuania saved their place in Division I Group A.

Philippines played in Division III Group B and finished last with awful -48 goal difference in just 5 games. So, they ended 58th from 58 teams that played in different divisions. There is one lower division remaining, but i was cancelled because of sitation in Middle East.

Wouldn't say that hockey is Western thing, probably more Nordic. Even in Asia, there is maybe not elite, but very competetive teams like Japan, South Korea or China.
And you will find ice hockey betting om probably all betting websites.

Am not much of a hockey fan, but my love for sports knows no limits and it gets me interested in almost every sports that is available both on sportsbook or on decentralized crypto platforms.

The tournament is just in a few days time and the favorites for me from previous stats and discovery, revolves around Canada, USA, Switzerland and Germany. If I have to bet for any reasons, I would split my bet among these teams so I don't loose out much.

Although the lines may be getting sharper every year, betting on the group stages usually has the best value to give because of the heightened team spirit of competition that is sure to be in full display for the title.

Thanks for the information mate, cause our region devoted to a lot of sports so Id missed news potentially that filipinos were also into Ice hockey maybe due to geolocation that we dont have ice floors to practice on compared to other natural players that they got an area for that. But since you mentioned it I'll dig deeper about this. Yes Japan and Korea probably since their place got some snow or ice areas unlike in the Philippines. Anyway will look more.

I would say that among other popular sports, group stage in ice hockey is unique because there are always only 1 or two outsiders, while all rest teams have high chances to get to play-off. Because nobody plays to hold the score. Its not like football, when you goal on first minute, then 89 minutes you play pass I like group stage because often there happens small finals. Those who meet in finals, sometimes play it more interesting between each other on group stage.

Odds for Canada is between 1.80 and 2.40. I don't remember when they were so clearly favored like this time. Not really sure about it. Now it's confirmed that Sydney Crosby will join them too after Penguins were eliminated from Stanley Cup.
What I'm sure that USA isn't going to defend their Gold. Roster not even entirely from NHL, just one player from team that won Gold in Olympics.

Crosby is going to play again? Is he trying to beat Jaromir Jagr record of being one of most aged players on World Cup and Olympics? I dont remember spectacular performance from him when he played on the edge of retirement from national team. Average age in previous cup was ~27-28. I think youngest kid was 25. Crosby is 38. It will be hard to catch on the ice, as he will be dropping sand and slow down defenders I would put him on coaches bench if Canada wants motivation boost so much.

The most exciting game tonight is definitely Sweden vs Canada. I expect a super strong Canadian side entering the ice against Sweden tonight.

I might give a prediction, that those teams will meet again in finals or semi finals. I think there is a high chance of that to happen.

Yeah, definitely a generation change. We don’t have the same influx of good players like we had years ago.
We still have some really good players like Aleksander Barkov, but honestly it feels like we are not as strong as the very top teams in this World Championship either.

Maybe the younger generation surprises people this year. I still think we should be able to beat Germany, although they look strong this year too, and Hungary of course 😄

And yes, we definitely need those players back haha.

Yeah, maybe I didn't expressed well. I mean there is no games with status like Sweden - Canada. There is either smaller teams playing or there is game like Canada - Italy where there is no questions about winner.
But we have one upset today - Slovenia won against Czechia after extra time. Tomorrow I'm looking forward for Latvia - Germany and and Norway - Slovenia, these clashes potentially is direct fight for spot in 1/4 finals because it's similar level teams playing.

Besides Slovenia vs Czechia, on this tournament everything else go as expected. Maybe also a goal from Hungary to Finland was unexpected. Todays games result I think wont surprise me, if not only someone get 1 point for turning game to overtime. I also think that we would have a calm and expected group stage, and as usually all the games would start in 1/4.

So when OP says hockey he actually means ICE hockey? Dang,,, I was tricked by the title because I know hockey, and zero ice hockey 

No wonder it enters into BSFL hehe,,, enjoy the games guys, I just came in to comment on this,,, but I have to say people should not calls something a World Cup where half of the world can't even play the sport
