This is coming from a friend, he's been with a company that is a restaurant and a catering service for 15 years, and is a regular employee. This is not really a big company, but it's been stable for the last 20 years. But he learned that the owner became hooked in casino, and he was just starting to frequent casinos.
Now he is asking me, is it a big concern if your employer starts to frequent casinos? Or he is just speculating that it will harm the company eventually.
The number of times a person visits a casino is certain that he is addicted to gambling, so it is something to worry about if our boss often visits casinos because when he is in that situation, the chances that can occur are addiction and after this addiction can have an impact on his work environment, especially his business and after that his workers. My friend lost his business due to gambling addiction even though there were no workers in his business but it was a very fatal event, because he could lose his source of income because of something that had no clear benefits.

It's the bosses business how he spends his private time and his money too, how sure is your friend that his boss just started gambling, dude may have already been gambling Kong before your friend found out yet his company is still standing, simply finding out that your boss is a gambler doesn't mean that his company has automatically gone under so if your friend thinks that his bosses gambling is a threat to him being payed the they are welcome to look for employment elsewhere.

It's concerning because we all know how gambling can destroy our lives including his business. And so if that happens that the owner fell into addiction then who knows, maybe he will have to close the business.
If not they maybe there will be concerns about the salary of his employees including your friend. There could be delayed as the owner might used the money to fuel his addiction and playing online or land base casinos in our country.
If a business owner is addicted to gambling, employees should start looking for new jobs early. While nothing serious may happen, it's best to be prepared for any eventuality. This will be the right and wise decision. We are all far from perfect individuals, and each of us makes mistakes for which we have to pay. As the saying goes, "Keep your nose to the grindstone."

Gambling is a personal choice, and there is no harm if the employer gambles responsibly and rightly using only the amount that is his Discretionary income..But then again I wouldn't erase the possibility of things taking the other turn.. And so I wouldn't still be surprised if the employer eventually liquidates all the funds of the company to gamble or say stake the whole company, since it's something that's very rampant now days, most especially if someone gets too addiction....And so the only problem that could allow the company to go into ruins is if the employer eventually becomes a gambling addict...

you are right as everything still boils down to one’s ability to distinguish between work and fun or entertainment. If you know this as a business person, it should not affect the success of your business because you won’t be gullible enough to interfere business with entertainment and I’m referring to the boss here. As a matter of fact many of these big business men are into one casino or the other as what they play during their pastime but you can hardly point to anybody who is also as smart as those people as they are already disciplined and measure the effect of their actions over anything they do either for business or for entertainment which includes gambling.

It's has a magnitude of concern because we all know what is involved if the owner of the restaurant gets addicted to gambling and couldn't control his gambling habits which the outcome will be the closure of the place, so if the person is wise enough he should be looking elsewhere for another job because by virtue of the owner gambling he might as well use their salaries to gamble and will be finding it difficult to pay and that's how the company will be going down untill it folds completely, I once experience it when I worked with a mini perfume production company. The only cause for alarm is when the owner doesn't gamble responsibly but if he is gambling responsibly for fun and entertainment and has a budget for it then the employees don't need to panic because as a business oriented person he won't gamble with his business and allow it fold up.

Addicts are still human beings just so you know, and it doesn't matter what status or position they hold, they still need someone to help them. Well since this is an employer/employee situation, the relationship might not be that close, but the best thing to do when you figure out your boss has an addiction, which you know could potentially destroy or threatens the future of the company wouldn't be to just chicken out, you don't know if the boss is already fed up and confused but don't know how to get out of it, so you can at least talk to the person to see if he's the type of addict that's seeking for help but don't know how to go about it, that way you can still help them, even if not directly but give them helpful recommendations on how to recover from that addiction.

It's those kind of people that will just condemn anyone they see without any good cause simply because these people who are the victim of their condemnation are gamblers, they don't even want to listen to anything else you have to say, the moment they realize that you gamble you are effectively a lesser man to them, someone who can't control their impulses but this people probably also have things they do that they spend their money on but since it's not gambling they are to themselves automatically better than the gambler

It's definitely a big concern if your employer is frequently gambling on a casino, it's a red flag that he may get addicted sooner than you expect, and when this happens all the employees will be at risk of not getting paid on time or some may recieve half payment or some may not even receive any at all. Infact it may leed to financial bankruptcy if care is not taken. My advice for that employee is that he or she should advice the employer the impending danger involve in getting addicted to Gambling, so that he may abstain from it, but if he doesn't listen and the company starts folding, the employer will not blame anyone for his misfortunes. The advice will mark as an evidence of the employee concern to the business, therefore there wouldn't be any need to acausion blame on anyone for his misfortunes when the time comes.

I agree with what you said when our boss is addicted then it is better for us to immediately look for a new job but first do not leave the company first so while looking we are still part of the company because no one knows what each person's thoughts are that the boss might be able to recover from his addiction and be able to return to his responsibilities which must pay attention to the business and his employees. Getting a boss with problems like this is also a risk but this is a risk outside the concept of work, only it can be a problem that has fatal consequences.
The thing is, I personally encountered this problem. Except it wasn't my boss, but the CEO, who could play slots right at his desk and never be afraid. And no one could say anything about it. I think the reason is obvious. So, it was perfectly logical to consider looking for a new job, since there was no telling how it would all end. Ultimately, I made the decision to leave the company and find a new job.

You made a wise choice to change jobs, as I wrote earlier (taken from a true story) the risk of the company going bankrupt for a reckless employer is high. It's not a mathematical certainty that failure is destined to happen, but the risk is high, I'm a gambler and I'm sure of what I'm saying, making mistakes and letting them drag you along is really very easy, sometimes I also struggle to hold back my instincts.

The situation changes completely if he has access to money, in which case the campaign has a huge risk and can end his fortune in one day, because when the moment comes for winning back, he will start throwing money after money, not paying attention to how large the sums are, he will want one thing - to get rid of the state of loss. If he has access, you have to watch out for two things, is he or she playing just for fun or are they gradually getting addicted, if they are getting addicted, then the person's job is at risk because when this employer lavish all the contract money on gambling, they will leave the staffs unpaid for [no one knows how long] months. If it's me, I won't even wait for the situation to get to that point before I start looking for another job or report the person.

Depending on which department you are found, certain things will bring the attention of an employer, especially if it's a small company setting! Lets look at this this way, if you were the accountant of that small company and say your books at the end of the year don't usually reconcile with other documents.. and employer finds out you are a regular at some casino that is usually splashing cash, then for sure you will be a person of interest but that's in extreme cases... and if found innocent could bring trust issues.

Sometimes, it's obvious that the employer might have been gambling for long and yet his company still remains operational for the past 20years, and with that alone, it simply means employer might have had a clear line between his business money and the money he used for entertainment or pleasure just like gambling. And for me, inasmuch as my employer does not mismanaged the company's fund, and it stays full functional and likewise salaries are been paid on time without excuses, for me, I have no business worrying if my employer is a gambler. As long as he is not an addicted gambler. So each person has there personal view on issues like this, but this is my own sincere view about it. My salary and the ability of my employer to provide a conducive atmosphere for work is my number one priority.

Depends alot on the company, if its purely driven by one person controlling everything like a juggler then any distraction can lead to a crash. If its properly run with accounts separated from personal spending I cant see it has to be a problem, moderate gambling is perfectly fine. There are far more deadly habits to keep that could lead to worse outcomes. Driving your car too fast is easily worse then betting even every day, I don't assume the worst of anyone.

I might also be worried if the owner of the place where I work started getting hooked on gambling, because I'd never know when he might become an addict and sell off all his assets just to satisfy his gambling, and that would obviously be detrimental to me, as I work for him and I don't want to lose my job. So that guy has good reason to be worried, and I think it’s not just him, the other employees are just as worried.

Why did you consider quiting, is it because he might get you into trouble? Although I totally understand the feeling but if I was in your shoes I will just call him to order I don't care what happened next and in some cases it could be that he don't know what he's doing or probably he must have been addicted to gambling without even noticing that and it's obvious that he's a gamble addict for me to seat comfortably on his desk without even considering the fact that he's on duty, just to see how addiction makes people to do crazy things.

Employer visiting the casino regularly is dangerous and unhealthy for the business to function well and grow, because he can end up gambling with the entire company fund and it's future therefore to keep the company moving, he should regulate and manage his gambling activities for the same of the company if not he will not have the source which he will gamble from .
