Can Claude recover a BTC wallet password lost a few years ago?

Recently I noticed this news on Twitter that, A man was able to recover five BTC from his locked Bitcoin wallet after 11 years, and there's more. I noticed that he was able to do it using the Claude. Actually this person tried a lot to find their old password and he tried 3.5 trillion passwords but finally they gave them access to the Claude on the old computer, as a result the AI was later able to identify his password and he got his bitcoins back.

However, my question now is whether the Claude can really return the lost Bitcoin wallet passwords of many people.

This is good news not just for the man that retrieved his Bitcoins but for every user out there that lost access to their coins and haven't been able to recover their Bitcoin, at least there's a little bit of hope that it's possible to recover lost Bitcoin.

Based on what I understand I don't think the AI cracked the wallet open but just helped him to run through his old wallet files and clues provided by the man so I won't say Claude can really return lost Bitcoin wallet passwords. The AI can only assist you when you have clues but I don't think it can do anything without clues.

It's still a good thing for people, it will help many who have clues recover their Bitcoin.

Claude could have helped the person to make use of Btcrecover (a tool for brute forcing password or missing word from private key, seed phrase or passphrase). What actually did the recovery is Btcrecover, a tool that has been existing for years. There are some passwords and characters that will be difficult to recover, especially if they are long and the person does not know part of it.

I've been seeing this news all around today, but is don't buy the idea because alot of people will be feeling now like the Ai actually did help him unlock his wallet but what it did was to find clues of his old passwords. I will go with what Charles tim already said. Brute forcing tools had already been in existence. All the AI just did was to implement it with the clues given and found his password. Alot of people will admire the positive side of this and thinking Ai would actually be of help. They might be so naive to want to try this on their laptop where they have funds. But the danger in this is that you are exposing your keys to the internet. The Ai are just tools, the data they take or process ends up with third party data centres. So let's not be carried away..

According to what stated above, it was said that the Claude A.I tool was given access to the man's old computer to find his missing Bitcoin password. And from that statement, it practically means that the mlan's Bitcoin password might have been written and stored somewhere in that old computer, so what the Claude A.I did was to scan the entire system, including it's passwords used on his other crypto related apps he might have used to suggest the Password of his Bitcoin wallet. So this is very possible with Artificial intelligence (I.A). But just that you just have to be professional enough to key in the right prompt, to enable you get the right result.

Seeking the assistance of these AI tools should be the last resort. Giving a third party access to sensitive information might cause more harm than good. But if using this tool is the only means of recovering the wallet password, then the risk is worth taking.

This news is also a warning to us that we should always protect our devices because bad actors now have access to tools that can make their criminal enterprise easier.

If this is true then congratulations to the owner of the wallet for taking this very dangerous security risk by letting AI have full access to his Computer and good for him he gets to retrieve his 5 bitcoins.

This shows that AI advancement in the era is really moving fast and especially Claude, they’re trying to make theirs the best in most of thing AI does.

But has the guy been able to move the coins out of the old wallet to a more safer one? That should be his first step though to make sure he secures his newly recovered coins.

First Bitcoin doesn't make use of password just private keys or better still seedphrase.
And from what was stated
He was giving access to the computer or file and it was able to locate the password that was already in the system
It didn't generate anything from the air.

Yes, I agree with you. I have also seen this news several times but I did not take it into account. Later, there was a rumor about this issue and after that I did some research on this issue. AI did not directly break the encryption and extract the seed phrase or password, rather, the person had some backups of the wallet or old files, AI identified these and was able to find the seed phrase by finding the file.

At present, it is never possible for AI to directly break the encryption and extract the password or seed phrase or not possible in the future. No one will be afraid without knowing the correct information and if there is ever a hint of such a possibility, then the Bitcoin community will definitely take precautions in this regard.

Claude can never recover a lost password. Claude AI needs to be given some necessary information, some part of the seed phrase, or the password guidelines. Claude AI only helps you do research, Claude AI only tries to find your lost password step by step according to the information you provide. In my personal opinion, if someone loses their password or recovers it with the help of Claude AI, then they should move the BTCs of that wallet to another place and immediately discard the recovered wallet. Because it is generally forbidden to take a picture of the seed phrase, and there you gave your information or seed phrase online of your own free will. There is no guarantee that it will not be risky later. The main thing is that if someone wants to eat fish from you, then feed him fish but do not go to the pond to introduce him. Basically, the same is true for AI, do not delay even 1 minute after getting your BTC back to delete that wallet forever.
