- Greed is one major reason we do chase lost, we may be opportune to win little but in other to get more we keep on gaming hoping is that easy, when we now lost to the gambling platforms that's when the whole revenge process started and before you know it you will never end till it turn into your nightmare.
I completely agree with you, greed is the main reason a gambler chases losses, and it all stems from a "feeling of not accepting defeat". So, that person will try to regain their advantage through unwise means, even by overexerting themselves. The solution to this problem is; to properly control emotions when gambling, implement a sound budget, use money you can afford to lose, and manage your time effectively without sacrificing important time (this is something that is rarely realized).

Well, this discussion is often brought up, but I think we need to keep bringing it up as a reminder to each other.

Gamblers should just train their minds to accept that every game and outcome is independent of the other. The reason gamblers keep chasing losses is because they are yet to realise or accept this. Once they encountered near misses, the next feeling is that winning might be close by. That is why gamblers keep their hopes high because they believe that they have lost enough money and the system may help them recover. Greed or no greed,  gamblers will keep chasing losses if they keep connecting every outcome.

- Greed

- Staking about what you can't let go:

- Don't Gamble with fund's that was meant for other purpose:

None of these is simple. I have met gamblers who know that it's bad to chase their losses and that they should control or moderate their greed, yet, at the moment, they choose between stopping and grabbing the opportunity; they choose the latter.
Greed control can only happen through constant reminders and always being mindful of how you play, because advice is useless without mindful control of our actions.
After all, gamblers have to keep in mind that each new day is an opportunity to stop. It doesn't matter if they failed quitting on the previous gambling session. What really matters is that they will have a new chance to do so on the following session. Battles can be lost, although the war can still be won.

Each gambler will have to discover this on their own time. Some will do quicker, while others will take a long time. In every cases, there is still hope for them, and that is what they should stick to.

Greed alone can't be the main reason why gamblers start chasing losses. I think desperation and emotions too are factors for the continuously chasing of losses.
When a gambler start winning, there's the urge that comes in when he thinks he is at the top of the world. Start taking unnecessarily risk that will juperdice his wins. As a gambler, watch out for that. I am talking from experience. And it is also very important to risk what one can loss without thinking too much on the losses. Pressure too can be another factor why gamblers chase after losses.

- Don't Gamble with fund's that was meant for other purpose: This is another big problem behind lost chasing, when gambling with the wrong fund's. For example gaming with a school fees, house rentage money, feeding funds, utility bills subscription fee etc. Perhaps, when tempering with any of this funds and things didn't goes as planned, this will automatically distabilize your plans and before you know you have started gambling out of emotion just to get back that money and that's the more lost you keep on accumulating for yourself. Gamble was never made to put us in any form of tension but we brought it up on ourselves by some of our wrong doings. So what your thoughts on this?
This particular point is one I've been a victim of, I gambled with the money, money that was not meant to be spent on gambling, I did and lost the money, all of it, it was a devastating experience but I was sensible enough to not try to chase after the loss and this was what actually saved me from potential further loses.

Now, my own experience aside, here in my country, a student spent his school fees on gambling and lost all the money, in a big to try to win back the money so he be able to pay his school fees stole his friend's school fees and also used it to gamble, thinking he would win, replace his friends school and from the profit he made, he will be able to pay his own school fees too, but unfortunately he still lost all the money..
When the school authorities started asking for the school fees, he admitted stealing his friend's school fees and promised he will pay back, his parents heard what has happened and gave order that the school authority should hold him until he provide both his school fees and that of his friend he stole, this lead to alot of pressure on the him, at the end, the student ended up committing suicide (killing himself by drinking a large quantity of insecticide).

It is only when there is greed that a gambler will chase losses, Greed happens in two ways it can be when you are winning and then you don't want to stop gambling so you continue playing despite you over exceeding your playing limit. Greed can also happen when you are losing but then you don't want to accept defeat and you try to chase losses just to recover and make up for the money that you have already lost. When you're disciplined and you are in control of your gambling activities there will be no reason why you will be chasing losses because before you started gambling you would have already budgeted the spare money that you have decided to use in gambling hence if you lose them you won't get paranoid and try to chase losses like every other addicted gambler out there.

I agree with the point you raised about discipline, but I still think that gambling is more psychological and different things can act as triggers to different gamblers. To some gamblers, it could be frustration, pressure from friends, and the near miss fear. Greed can only make loss chasing worse, but it is not the only reason gamblers chase losses.

Especially in the case of near misses and the continued hope of  winning, gambling outcomes remain independent. Whether a gambler is greedy or just feeling emotional, he should bear in mind that just because he has lost so much money does not mean that he is entitled to win.  There is no guarantee.

Greed is the common reason why a lot of gamblers end up chasing losses because when gamblers start making profit they think about chasing more, this is where the problem starts from. Over gambling or chasing profits even after winning leads to losses in the long run. One way to avoid this is to stop immediately after winning or have a time limit, the more hours you put into gambling it becomes difficult to stop. When gamblers get caught up with chasing profits they end up losing and there's a high chance that they will definitely chase what they have lost.

We have several discussion about this already. The simplest way to know that you are not a gambling addict is when you are able to use little amount of money to gamble.

1% of you weekly or monthly income is the recommended percentage.

Some gamblers on this forum said they go up to 5% and it is good for them.

Going more than that is bad.

There's a huge difference from 1-5 and if someone can just go 6℅ and are emotionally stabled in control, I think they'll still be at the same margin of their risk tolerances.
Some would say they don't stick to their incomes instead they only gambles with spare funds which they've already been exempted to be their own or making essential plans for it and still keep responsibility of their bets actions.
So either the 1℅ plus is non of their business to be scared of loosing it.
I just mean to say that no particular ℅ is official for this race but what we can afford to loose matters based on individuals.

The 3 things you listed all have roots leading back to greed actually. I think that's the main thing that hinders gambling, that human nature for greed and wanting it all and also wanting it your way.

Gambling addiction is very bad because in the literal sense you are addicted to greed, that is like the best way to describe gambling addiction and by defining it that way, you then have a solution to the addiction, which is to control your greed.

It's a good reminder, but it still comes down to how well we can consistently control ourselves because i've seen gamblers who keep on struggling despite being given several pieces of advice.

I've also chased my losses at one point, and what hit me the most was the first two you mentioned. These problems might sound simple to fix, but it's always easy to fall for them over and over again.

Greed should come first on your list when we're mentioning or talking about gambling. There's never a place in this world where we can gamble in peace because gamble have come to stay and you know how the gambling system works, it's been designated to watch us failed and I don't just know how it happens but gambling have been really one of the features pulling us backwards, especially on the grounds on making profits.

Addiction is real and it's not even what I can wish for my enemies, have you seen what addiction does to people? There's absolutely no coming back from addiction and if you do, it's definitely by the grace of GOD. This is time to level up our approaches and step up like a King that we are in the space.
