Why do most people sees those who gamble as irresponsible person?

We can have different opinion on a certain matters with other person but that doesn’t enough for me to distance myself or be concerned to others opinion. If I knew to myself that I’m not doing wrong I think that’s already enough reason to not be bothered by others opinion.

Gamblers often classify as irresponsible person is due to many cases of gambling addiction. It’s wrong to generalize all gambler but it’s also true that some gamblers are irresponsible.

Irresponsible gamblers are majorly the ones who paint gambling as a bad thing or activity to engage in, and this makes those who don't gamble to see others who gamble as irresponsible people as well, just like the common proverb here in my language which when translated to English simply states that "when one finger touches oil, the four other fingers get stained of the oil as well", this is exactly what is happening in the gambling ecosystem, those who are irresponsible gamblers are way too many and they are passing wrong impression, message about gambling, making it seems like it's every one who is into gambling that is absolutely irresponsible.

And about people being entitled to their opinion and having the freedom to express it, thats absolutely true, for someone who is not already my friend, it's fine to want to keep a distance from them if their opinion about something that I love doing (that is not a wrong thing) is negative, but for the person that is already a friend of mine, their contrary opinion from mine about something is not a good enough to cut off.

I was actually ashamed of myself when I was discussing with someone about gambling and the next person behind us wasn't a gambler and he picked the talk that " we are just wasting our money to the gambling site that they knows what they are doing". He adds more; that gambling are for the hopeless people that whenever they have seek for jobs and if they don't have any they would turned back their hands to try gambling if that would favor them or likely change their entire life story and history that he doesn't like associating with those who gambles that they could go to any lengths for them to gamble.

At first, I didn't see it as something so meaningful or important to me but what just triggered me is that this could be the way lot of people are classifying those who gambles, and to be sincere if such person had any chance of recommending people to work when he noticed you are a gambler that he wouldn't care about the person anymore as such person could used the organization money or company money to gamble with the hope of replacing back before company could take records of what happened.

Many superficially thinking people really like to simplify everything. Their thinking puts labels quickly because they have no desire to delve into the topic, but just to hear someone's opinion, and if it does not require reflection, then leave their opinion like that forever. This is an illusory picture of the world that has no subtleties, and that's not why such a guy often has dissonances with reality when he doesn't understand, for example, how a trader or investor in Bitcoin suddenly became rich. It's the same with betting. For him, these are all dependent and problematic people, and he doesn't understand why they have suddenly become more successful than himself. But this happens and is not so rare. Therefore, you should never be lazy and you should always look for ways to solve and explore any topic in an honest and realistic way.

Well, not everyone will agree to ur world view, some of ur friends will not agree with ur lifestyle, but dat doesn't mean u should stop being friends. A friend who'll not recommend u for something good cause ur a gambler doesn't like u, whether ur gambling or not, dey won't recommend u period.

I don't like smokers cause dey tend to be violent unnecessarily a times, but I have a lot of friends and close ones who smokes dat I stretch out a helping hands to. So don't distance urself cause dey don't like ur gambling habits, but rather because dey are not good people.

Yeah, accepting friends doesn’t mean they need to have the same views as us or vice versa. Many friendships are not based on mindset alone, it can because of work, hobbies and other reasons. We can use friends who dislike our gambling habit as a reminder to stay aware of the dangers of gambling. If we always think we are right because of gambling and hate our friends opinions, it can make us overconfident and arrogant.

We know society often sees gamblers as bad people who cause harm to others but we can change that image for the people around us especially our friends, by not doing harmful things. We can prove to our friends that there are good gamblers.

Just ignore him I guess. Most people dont gamble tends to say those things cause they dont experience it. Well they have a thing to say or two but thats okay its their opinion and belief. I had some friends too allergic to gambling but they only says take moderately  but dont have to tell how unworthy it is to the point like what you had mentioned.

Feel free to say and have opinion for me those kind of takes shouldnt be taken deeply.

People react based on personal experience or general beliefs. If you have a brother who was ruined by gambling addiction, I think you would see gambling as a bad activity. If you live in an environment where many people are gambling addicts, you might have the orientation that it should be banned.

If you are a believer in a religious creed that sees gambling as immoral, you would hate gambling. In a certain zone in my country, gablers are perceived as sinners.

I don't care much about people's views about my actions and inaction, especially if I know what I am doing doesn't harm me. I usually ignore them because they lack knowledge regarding responsible gambling.

For me I will not unfriend him but I’m going to be very careful with him , such person that has that kind of mentality can go extra mind for one not to get a good job if his opportune, I alway tell people let people be and allow them do what works for them , if not why will him classified  him to that level all because of gambling, if his not comfortable with his gambling habit , he could have just advised rathan than to talk down on him in such a way, if you check very well people that don’t gamble are just few and it’s rare to see , so does that mean the population that are into gambling are jobless and fools?? In as much as I’m concerned their are still responsible gamblers.

In such a situation, I can decide not to keep a person like him as a friend. Basically, when a person becomes addicted to gambling, he cannot control himself, but his behavior changes a lot. However, I think it is very bad to be with such people because at any moment he will try to take money from you with any excuse and later on gambling will harm them. Most people do not want to be in a relationship with gamblers and they do not want to be with them, basically because of this bad habit. But a responsible gambler never behaves badly, but if he behaves with them differently from his thoughts, then something positive can be expected. Moreover, since you mentioned that he has no experience, in that case I will not be able to gain any knowledge by going with him, in that case I will ignore him. Basically, going with a responsible person and going with an experienced person will always lead you to a good sign, that is why you should ignore him when going with a bad person.

All I can say is, people react the way they react probably because of some experience they've had or something they've heard. There are lost of gambling addicts out there who makes gamble feels like a bad thing and a dangerous thing to get yourself into so everyone easily build their knowledge about gamble from that narrative however the way the guy from your story reacted is just too much. No need to ashamed and stick to be yourself and no need to unfriend him because all depend on him. If he still want to be your friend, he will not care with your habit playing gambling but he will suggest you to reduce or quit gambling.

He is just one person who don't like gambling so nothing wrong if he says like that. You should accept it as in some society, people can't accept gambling and that is normal.

He can choose his decision to stay away from gambling and so do you that still gambling. But you still friend and help each others because you realize that every people have their own choice.

Keep calming and if you are with him, you don't have to talk about gambling. You can do other things with him and not related to gambling.

Some of these mindsets and perspective can equally stem from a religious point of view too. Like we already know, there are soe religious bodies that are 100% against gambling and kinda condemns those who are involved in them, so they really don't need to see, hear or even experience anything first before they react in some kind of way towards gamblers and gambling generaly, they sure don't wanna know whether you are merely just gambling for fun or you're an actual addict.

Looking at the reality, we may indeed see that more people are gambling irresponsibly, but of course not everyone who gambles is like that; some have always gambled responsibly, while others have changed course along the way after realizing their mistakes just like me, who came to my senses when I realized I had been gambling excessively.

Addictive gambling not only affects the gambler's relationship with family or society around him, it's also capable of spreading a particular impression about gamblers in general. This is because some addicts can go to any length just to make sure they satisfy and feed their addiction, even if it involves stealing, kidnapping and other illicit activities that can generate them some money. even if they don't mean to directly cause harm to anyone, they still end up doing so and leaving the wrong footprint about gambling, whichis why some people just view all gamblers the same way.

The person who is quite successful, has no debts, and has no other obligations will not cause any negative opinion about himself from other people if he tells them that he is a gambler. But there will be another opinion about those who do not have any normal earnings, who have a lot of debts, and who have gambling addiction. The reason is simple: people tend to remember negative events more than positive ones, and unfortunately, there have been cases where gamblers have ruined their families, become debtors who reduced their entire families to poverty, or even fallen victim to criminal activities.
One could also argue that all drivers of luxury cars are potential killers of pedestrians and other drivers, but that wouldn’t be true either.
Although in both the first and second cases-whether you are a gambler or a driver of a luxury car-the risk of the described events is not zero. The question is whether the gambler or driver will lose control of the activity (gambling or driving); that is what matters, and that is where the line between normal and abnormal lies.
