Why is it that here in Africa we crave for political power to the extent that one can rule a nation for more than a decade is he the only surviving person in the country or is he the only living thing in the nation I am saying this in reference to the president of Uganda he has been has been sworn in for his seventh term as uganda president having held this position since January 26 1986 up till date. This has to stop I really thank God that in Nigeria one person can’t stay that long but can be moving from one position to the other.

First of all this is not only an Africans problem. There are countries that have leaders who are ruling for more than a decade. Take for instance Russian president. Dubai again is another example.

For me, I think we are more pained that their rule keeps plunging people into poverty, economic sabotage, insecurity, lack of basic amenities and so on. It's not necessarily about how long the person is ruling, but what are we achieving as you are ruling.

You made mention of Nigeria not being like Uganda. What is the benefit of the democracy in Nigeria? I believe you are a Nigerian so you should know what I am saying. Democracy has not had any benefits to Nigeria and will not have. This style of government was borrowed and it won't work here.  All Nigeria does is to recycle ♻️ same old habits of politicians.  They are all criminals. Ready to loot and plunder.

Africa is disgraceful when it comes to leadership and power, and most unfortunately, those in power doesn't have the leadership characteristics to be positive to their nation, not to mention their continent, which makes it worse and wicked. It's worst in West Africa; it is just as if something has just be terribly wrong in our foundation. Or how do we explain all the happenings and the unfortunate set of leaders we often have?

Power is a tempting psychological thing. Those who once tasted that power do not want to leave the place of power easily. Consider Donald Trump, he pretended to be shot to be re-elected as the President of the United States. How risky was the act, but he still had to get back to power and he got it and he is still in power. It is not only in Africa but all over the world that people are greedy for power and staying in power. Chinese President Xi Jinping has been in power for 13 years and he has almost finalized the arrangement to stay in power for life. Russian President Putin has been in power for a long time. So it is safe to say that if you are in power, you probably will not want to leave that chair. Grin
