This afternoon I came across  this post and as I read through I really do not want to agree that Claude AI could recover the keys to the wallet. Thats why I decided to bring this here and look at the possibilities from developers point of view. Even though it was posted in the bitcoin discussion board already, It didn’t get the technical engagements I was hoping to see, I hope I get that here.because if this is true then security could be compromised using AI tools.

You should read this post, the most recent one about this case. He already got his mnemonic seed he just used Claude to recovery his wallet password. So AI can’t actually pose any security risks to someone whatsoever because he also gave AI access to his PC and other informations before the AI could recovery his password.

I don't think that what happened in the thread you referenced was that AI guessed the password just from personality as the Op tried to paint it, instead, I think what the AI did was to reduce the search space.

The truth is that a normal brute force attack can take a long time but the moment it can asccess enough personal information like one's favourite words, dates, writing style or probably password patterns, the AI will start by guessing the most likely combinations instead for completely getting it right at random. That's what I think happened there.

So if you want to look at it from a technical angle, the weak point here is definitely not Bitcoin itself but the password entropy.

What happened wasn’t Abbracadabra  Roll Eyes

This was what he typed  on X :
Quote from: cprkm
I tried like 7 trillion passwords lmfao

Found this old pneumonic a few weeks ago that ended up being the old password before I changed it

Thought I was screwed

Last ditch effort dumped my whole college computer into Claude

It found an OLD wallet file that the pneumonic successfully decrypted

Locked out 11+ years because I got stoned and changed the password

Spent $250 on each lol

He had the answer in a notebook already but couldn’t figure it out, what he couldn’t do was what Claude did.

Claude  looked into all encrypted backup files stored on the drive he gave access to  Claude and found an old backup that used the same password (the one inside the notebook) before he changed it to a new one, which he couldn’t remember for an obvious reason.

The old backup has the same private keys as the new one. What locked him out was only the new password on a new backup of the same wallet which he has likely been trying to decrypt over the years .

I don’t know if it’s all made up but I hope you understand now.

All I know about it is that Claude made the recovery possible with the use of Btcrecover. Possibly the password used for encryption that is needed was brute forced by Btcrecover. Without Btcrecover, Claude would have been unable to recover the wallet for the person. Many people have used Btcrecover to brute force password, passphrase and part of seed phrase for wallet recovery before.
