Firstly, politics without a society is empty. Politics is defined as the activity of settling affairs for an organised society.
There won't be any politics if there is no society. And that's why politics exist because of the society and its people.
They society defines legitimate power through social norms, public opinion and voting which shapes the politics of the given society. While politics consists of institutions that manage societal conflicts, allocate resources and create regulations that structures society.
If society shapes politics and politics structures society, Then is the politics of a country a reflection of it's society or is politics thoughtless of it's society?
Politics being shaped by the society means that it's actually the reflection of it. But, this is where everything stumbles because the elected officials changes their paths whenever they're already on the seat. There goes who are for the people, and there goes who are for their personal gain.
