I believed this will be good match, and a comeback fight for Connor. His last fight was 5 years ago, this will need him a lot of practices and training grounds since he came from a hard injury.

At his age I know he can still do this but the chance of winning thats a different story I guess.
He'd better train hard; Rousey's comeback was a better one; his version of a comeback is against a well-trained, more experienced Holloway. He could have opted for a lesser-ranked fighter or someone who's not been fighting for years like him, but he opted for a dangerous comeback.
I don't think Holloway will give him a glorious comeback; people expect him to give Conor a hard fight, and it will make Holloway seem like a lesser fighter for getting beaten by a guy who's been absent from the ring for 5 years.

I would bet that the fight gets cancelled. Conor doesn't wanna fight anymore, he's too drugged out to care. He's rich and doesn't need the money, he's just trying to keep his name in the news to feel relevant, but he's nothing anymore. Not saying he can't fight or anything, just saying he won't.
I hope he doesn't... Otherwise, this may just be the end of what seems to be left of his legacies and career. Max has created a strong legacy and has expanded his endurance capacities, making him very fearsome in the ring. I learnt he punched his way into a new record set for the most punches in a single fight, Plus the age difference would be a disadvantage against Conor.

This was the same thing I said when Mike suddenly wanted to fight the YouTuber months ago. If he's made all the money and fame, he needs to rest. Getting him in the ring against Max is just a way to shred his legacies imo.

It’s happening!

Conor McGregor is inked to fight in his comeback. It’s been a long time and nobody thought he would ever fight again.  Now we see if he has what it takes to win. Not sure why he’s doing this, but I can’t wait to watch.

This fight is an easy sell. Conor still attracts because of his personality, and they are curious what made him come back, and if he still has it, and among all fighters, why Holloway, who is fresh from his decision win against Oliveira.
This is a dangerous pick for Conor. I don't know if it's pride, but this is a wrong choice of opponent that might backfire on him. I love to see how he trained for this fight, so we can gauge him if he is ready for this type of comeback.

This match was announced by Dana on instagram during the Walk out of Francis Ngannou I don’t know if that was pre planned but that’s an amazing Pr, this was not the opponent I was expecting to face McGregor but definitely Max Holloway is a worthy opponent.
This will be a high strike match as both fighters do not grapple or take down much in their career, McGregor is a south paw and if he is the same man we knew he will throw as much hands as possible.

Great To hear ! Conor Back To Octagon . It will be interesting Fight and important one for Conor because we didn't see Conor so much . They are mostly Absence in the Big Fight let's see how Corner Can play it will be a fascinating to see how he performs against an elite competitor like Holloway. I am thinking Corner Can Lose this Fight. They are Too Old and Drunk Huh they are not ready what's Max Holloway can do with him Hahaha. Really curious to see how this plays out! But it will be Great Fight to watch I am tuning my UFC Card to ready for the fight .

I admire Conor for what he has done for the world of MMA, especially for UFC, but coming off a long layoff and against a very athletic, well-trained Holloway, this is a risky fight. If you're going to do a comeback from a long layoff, you take on an easy opponent and just take on top-level fighters in your succeeding fights.
That technical knockout loss to Poirier was ugly, and it's not easy to forget. I hope he has the best training camp, you don't want to mess up your comeback fight.

He has won 3 championships in his journey, but 10 years have passed since then and if you consider his age, he will not hardly win in this regard because he is 37 year old, but still he has prepared a lot for it, but his condition and performance indicate that he will not play very strong. In addition, Holloway is a little younger than him, which shows improvement in his side and with that, there will be a difference in his strength. Holloway is 34 years old Apart from that, he has also won the championship 2 times, which gives this point to Cornor, but it does not decide who will win, the only difference is their performance and standing strong. In this match to be held on July 11, we will be able to see the performance of both of them and their success will also be clear.

The riskiness of the choice of going head on with a top fighter when one is on a long hiatus is great in as far as the safety of any professional career is concerned. Historic injuries and the experience of being knocked out need a training of fighting instincts by being knocked out by previous warm up partners. The best preparation in the training camp can make the relatively poor comeback of the former champion not so bad.

His manager is already saying that, after this return, there will be more fights, that it will be a kind of "new season" for the fighter.

Quote
“I can say that he intends to stay active. This is the new season, and he (McGregor) definitely wants to stay active. We are looking forward not only to this fight against Max Holloway on July 11th, but also to the next one, and we're not going to wait a year, that's for sure. We're not looking too far ahead. We're focusing on one step at a time, as it should be, because Max Holloway is a formidable opponent, and we need to get the job done on July 11th,” Audie Attar.

McGregor said he's practically living at the gym.

They wanted it to be against Michael Chandler, but it didn't make sense for the UFC.

I have my doubts that McGregor will stay active but I will watch the fight and see how he looks. Maybe the UFC will let him run back all his old fights like this in a sort of old man’s farewell tour. I don’t expect him to be facing any of the young top prospects in this return to the cage.

Conor McGregor clearly said that money isn't everything for him. Yes, money buys him everything but here is the thing, he chases fame, he chases hype, he chases the high he gets from winning fights and getting praised by millions of people around the world. He said that he chases it very much and to my mind, that's why he decided to return in UFC but honestly, was he really working hard? Is he still the same quality fighter? Holloway is a very serious opponent, he is not a random fighter, he is the legend. Will Conor be able to beat him? Honestly, I hugely doubt but if Conor beats him, then it will be the best comeback in UFC and this will really open the door for him to bring the further, much better hype on the table.

Honestly, at this point, I simply want to wait for this fight and see what happens. I really, really want him to win just because I miss old Conor.

For sure he's not going to chase fights for young fighter's because for sure they know his old and this article have sense towards current condition of McGregor https://www.mmamania.com/2024/3/28/24114923/aging-conor-mcgregor-rather-fight-old-people-than-retire-unless-hes-laid-out-flat-ufc-return-mma

But it seems this is just do it for sake of passion and facing those fighters he know, rather than chasing big fights with more younger fighters. So maybe what we can expect from him is to have exhibition match up with old fighters.

Conor signed a massive new contract with the UFC and he has to fight to show he still got it and is still a top dog for other matches ahead. Since both fighters have met in the past, and have excelled at the path they chose to follow in their individual careers, this would be a match based on ego and experience of skills.

Holloway definitely has almost same stand and strike kind of Conor's fighting technique and it would depend on who has the best counter strike to win the match.
At 37 years old, Conor might find his opponent quite a challenge because the guy Holloway is talented and has insane cardio and output that matches that of Conor who has been five years away from fighting.

Where did you get info that Conor has signed a massive contract, instead of signing 1-fight contract? If he loses this fight (and he will) there is nothing for him to do there, as anyone from top will beat him.

I think your post is full of misinformation, as Holloway was never famous for cardio, but rather for his boxing. Conor was more a one-punch knockout guy with his left hand. Holloway is good at making series of punches. Their styles are not the same.

As far as the contract goes,

Quote
Helwani reiterated that the fight versus Holloway would be McGregor's first of two remaining on his current UFC contract. Therefore, his next move is extremely contingent on how the fight on Saturday, July 11, plays out.

https://www.si.com/fannation/mma/news/conor-mcgregor-major-ufc-contract-update

It was said that he still had a remaining contract with UFC? So there is no contract extension but rather Conor fulfilling the 2 fights in his current contract. But as what the article says, and we all know that Conor is a business man, who knows, after this and the next remaining, he might just go with 1 fight contract.

Conor sure is doing a lot of talking like he is going to come in and take back the UFC. I sure hope he doesn’t go out like Gina Carano in his next fight. I personally don’t think he fights again after this and have prepared myself for disappointment, but I’d love to be surprised.

OMG, is this really going to happen? I still can't believe McGregor is back and he's going to fight Max Holloway. It couldn't be a better match and pairing, and it's called UFC 329. I looked at the card and the other matches are really good. Pimblett and Sandhagen's matches will be good too, but to be honest, they all pale in comparison to the main card.

Conor McGregor is an interesting and popular figure and it makes sense for the UFC to bring him back. I can argue that the UFC needs him, just as much as he needs them, that's if it is true that he is in debt and needs the money. I don't know if he is in the best shape right now, because he was also supposed to fight some time in 2024, but that had to be cancelled through injury; i hope something wouldn't be made up and this fight cancelled too.

But as what the article says, and we all know that Conor is a business man, who knows, after this and the next remaining, he might just go with 1 fight contract.

So it is obligatory to fight under old contract, not a "massive new contract". On the other hand, Helwani isnt the most correct and reliable source. There is a possibility that he will say anything to keep audience, as this is his job.

The story about his return might be following. Recent Jake Paul events engagement was much bigger than UFC event. UFC might find this as a thread to their business, as all those other promotions are stealing their audience. Jake Paul vs UFC is no match. But this time it isnt Jake Paul, its Netflix who sponsors Jake. Its Netflix vs UFC. Or Netflix vs Paramount now. Two conglomerate who have bags full of money (but Netflix has more). To fight Netflix, Paramount took out bag of money to pay Conor for 1-fight-return, to kill their competitor.

I see it as difficult for Conor, especially considering he's 37, which, while not seeming young, is a big risk in combat sports, especially UFC. Also, the fact that he's a one-punch knockout isn't a guarantee against Holloway, especially since Holloway favors a continuous strike with a high volume of punches to demolish his opponent. Holloway has an incredible cardio, which is what allows him to throw constant barrages of punches and still stay hyperactive.
