I didn’t think a fight can get any worse than what we saw with Rousey vs. Carano, but this was definitely worse. Holloway won without throwing a punch. I don’t think a rematch is necessary. McGregor is no longer the fighter we remember and his body is just too worn down from age, substance abuse, and regular wear and tear.

He is still a cash cow, so they will probably convince him to fight again even though he is incapable of competing at a high level.

I am with you. So much hype and then we got this nonsense. I wonder if the injury is even real or just something he came up with to safe face cause he knew he would go down. Sure that's a lot of speculation but with the Mac you never know what you are getting. Good payday for just a couple of seconds of fighting.

Imagine being in the arena or buying the pay per view just to see both main event fights end in under 1 minute. I would be so pissed.  Grin

The people that bought a ticket and were actually at the fight are prob pissed, but those of use that subscribe to Paramount+ are fine as we get our moneys worth from weekly fights for $15 a month. PPV isn't a thing anymore for UFC.

I am more pissed that I bet Mcgregor n that shit happens. Total bullshit he even tried to fight.

Betting on a McGregor was indeed a high risk. 5 year long pause, his life style, injury. You should not be pissed for his performance. It was a miracle that he even entered octagon and did not cancel fight, as he used to announce and confirm his return multiple times already. You should not be pissed because he tried to fight, because others would have called for replacement last minute, and UFC match makers would use fighter who has gone through camp and was ready to replace anyone from main fight (they always have such guy). I didn't watch Conor McGregor's fight live, but because I've been following him on social media and I also follow the UFC on social media and YouTube channels, although I don't post about UFC frequently, when I saw the highlights of this fight, it immediately reminded me of what I often say about athletes who retire and then, years later, regret it and return from retirement.

When they do this, they don't realize, or their coaches also turn a blind eye to something very obvious: the athlete's physical condition is no longer the same as in the past. Is it really true that Conor McGregor and his coach didn't see that his physical conditioning wasn't very good before this fight? Even throwing a punch or kick, the guy strained a lot, and it's hard to believe he wasn't injured before the fight even started.

Because they knew there’s still juice they can squeeze with just the name from the fans despite facing the reality of the current condition of the athlete. Conor leg injury is not knew yet he still coming back despite the risk of recurring anytime on a match.

I’m not entertained to watch this kind of match if the goal is to see a good physical match. Fans that still watching this just want the feel of nostalgia watching their idol come back again hoping to give a good fight.

He should retire after this match since it’s a waste of money for those who purchased ticket. It’s too short for the hype on this match.

Betting on a McGregor was indeed a high risk. 5 year long pause, his life style, injury. You should not be pissed for his performance. Indeed a high risk its hard to expect something from him knowing how huge the gap of years he didn't fight. As result we see him got injured so early and lose against Holloway.

That situation indicates McGregor is not good anymore since he's body already collapsed. Best for him to retire totally and just enjoy his life outside.

But yeah at least he tried to fight, many people still want to see him goes back. But situation hits different and people didn't expect that we see him failed so early.

In the interview with Ariel Helwani Conor has told that he still has 1 fight under contract and UFC were offering him April 2027 as a fight date. He wanted to fight sooner, somewhere close to New Year. By his performance this night, it looks like he wont be ready to fight in April 2027 as well, if he really has knee injury. If it again will take years to recover, then I dont think anyone will be expecting his return.

After many years of waiting and a huge build-up surrounding the fight, we are all disappointed with the result. Injuries can happen during training and on fight day, but it's just disappointing that it happened to a fight many were excited to watch.

Yes, Connor should retire for good, or, if he ever comes back, since there's a mention that he still has one fight left on his contract, it should not be a main event, so people will not be disappointed with the outcome. I don't think he can deliver a performance anymore like the one he used to do in his younger days.

Nobody saw this coming; this was one of the biggest hype in UFC this year, and it went off after Conor landed and tore his ligament. We hate to see how it ends, but it is what it is; we don't want further injury, and Conor and the whole UFC community have no choice but to accept the result.
This is a very disappointing return for Conor, but he should rest and make a decision after his injury heals.

I don't think McGregor wanted it to end this way. I'm sure he was hoping to put on his best performance. Five years is too long a break for professional fighting, and a fighter who's in good shape and training will have a huge advantage. Perhaps his injury was genuinely bothering him, and that's another reason he shouldn't have taken this fight. I don't want to believe he did it just for the money.

Grin
Holloway even said that there will be a trilogy between the two of them, but "WHO THE FOOK WANTS THAT NOW?" especially after what happened.

I'm disappointed, and so as the fans and those who watched there personally. I mean the co-main event and the main event didn't even last more than 3 minutes which is insane. Pimblett won via D'Arce Choke while Holloway won via TKO which is pure nonsense if you will ask me. The co-main event isn't that disappointing because fans are rooting Pimblett to win anyway. The main event is what pisses all of the fans out there, and even the commentators are pissed obviously based on what they're saying. Cheesy Well, McGregor set a record for "one of the fastest and highest earning rates in combat sports history" because apparently, he earned a guaranteed $30M in this fight and he just fought there for 69 seconds. For McGregor, who the fook cares about the disappointment if he earns that much money in a short amount of time. Cheesy

A cash cow indeed, but I wonder if he will still be given an opportunity to fight in the future by Dana White.

He had broken his leg before, and he was fighting his first match, how can you start a fight with a flying kick? After the flying kick, he couldn't even get up whatever happened, happened there. And he was saying, "I have a platinum plate in my leg now, nothing will happen." I feel sorry for the people who went to T-Mobile Arena, the people who spent money on tickets; it was a complete disappointment. If it had been someone other than Max, they would have TKO'd him.

I think so too.

But things just happens and he wasn't expecting that it would end up like that.

He's hungry for that fight but it didn't end up pretty well for him. What a lot of disappointment for that fight when it should be intense and full of emotion.

Yeah, full of emotion but it's for him and dismay for the fans who have awaited that fight for too long.

Bad look for the UFC overall after the Conoc incident.
Looks like he was more than likely injured but they weren't going to cancel such a big fight.

It's every fighter's dream to earn that much for a short period of time, but not if you are Connor Mcgregor, who wants to make a big comeback after so many years of inactivity, and is considered by the MMA as a legend, but what happened already happened.

Huge respect for Max for not inflicting more damage to Conor, but the big damage is to Conor's spirit for coming in short on the fans' expectations.

I read on some YouTube comment, "what the fook was that fight" — this sums it pretty well and Max is one considerate fellow.

Certainly the fight was an absolute disappointment, but If there is washed up legend on the card, people should go to arena or sub to streaming service thinking match may not live upto the hype, so they won't feel disappointed.

Also, I find it hilarious that paramount+ posted the fight as a YT SHORT: Connor McGregor vs Max Holloway 2 Full fight

Mcgregor should have known his body is too old to handle all of pressure in serious fight like this. It gets worsen when he's also coming off from his steroid, which makes his body more fragile. So this kind of ending predictable if he known himself better. However, he gets his paycheck, and it's still fair compared to the injury he got from this game.
I think this is the best time for him to retire.

I think that should be it for McGregor, he wasn't in shape before this fight and there is no way he is going to get in shape to compete at the highest level again. I know he is the paper boy for the UFC and he is great for promotions, but after what happened in this fight, i don't think anybody would care too much about any sort of comeback again in the future.

What were you expecting betting on Conor ?
After five years of inactivity and constantly thrashing his body with all the drinking and doping, I wasn’t really expecting much from him.

I already had Max for the win but i didn’t know it would end like that.
The thing about knee injuries is that no matter how much resetting and fixing that is done to it, it can never be the same as when it was still brand new from God.

Let’s not raise our hopes too high, there might never be a third fight. Injuries like that tend to change a fighter; he can never fight the same again and plus, he’s 37 years old.

Let him just retire.

I think this is the best time for him to retire.

It's entirely related to steroids. When steroids leave the body, the tendons become much weaker, and the risk of injury increases significantly.
Considering he was out of form and untrained, and thinking "I'm still the old McGregor" at the start of the fight, it caused him to lose within seconds. He'll retire now. He got injured in his last two fights, and a comeback is impossible the UFC can't sell him another fight, even if he wanted to return.

I am sure he knows his own body better than us, and I am also sure he knew what he was doing — it was about paycheck, he got what? 15M for this about a minute of fight? He has fame, why wouldn't he take another fight if he is offered good moolah? He's still not that old, sure he might not be able to beat opponents but at least can take some beating and go home with millions. I don't see him yet retiring.
