We are all evidents of the hardship that Nigerians citizens are facing in this present regime, it is really hitting hard on many citizens since majority of the citizens are without job, and even those who are working are not well paid, and
some people even work for months before they will get
paid. For these reasons, many citizens are struggling to survive including both the young, and the old.
Nobody is really comfortable with this kind of situation that we are into, but some citizens persevere the situation of the country waiting for when it will end, while their are also those who has said no to it, and are ready to commit any crime in other to survive.

Honestly, the rate of crime has increased sporadically, you see some people selling their own children, many young people joining online fraud,  the rate of ritualism is on the increase, the rate of stealing is also high, and the female children going into prostitution. All these crime is to make themselves, and their families to survive the hardship that Nigerian leaders has brought.

If the Nigeria economy is stable, and the common man can survive comfortably, even with the little job he does, and the little pay he receives, crime rate won't be this profound.

What is your take on this ?

There's an increase in crime and everyone will blame hardship. I would like to fall in line with that but crime increase can't be blamed only on hardship. What about crimes committed by rich people who got their wealth through legit means, will you still blame that on hardship. I get you might say I am not correct but I also agree with you to an extent that crime increase is mostly as a result of hardship.

As a youth who is unemployed and looking for a job and finds none. Crime shouldn't be your first thinking to escape that reality. There should be other means to get the money without engaging in criminal activities. Therefore, I believe crime is a choice and not necessarily caused by hardship.

Poverty as we know it is a tool the ultra wealthy or government use to control people. I won't necessarily only blame the leaders as we all directly or indirectly contribute to this mayhem on us.

Nigerian youths are increasingly joining online fraud just to survive. Well I think at first it was. But then it became something. The Nigerian slang of pepper them. It's funny how almost in everyone's DNA, they just want to show off to people who don't care or give an F about them.

The Nigerian females joining prostitution will be said it's because everything is hard. If everything is hard why must it be the wrong thing to do that will first come in your mind. Can't you see it is based on choice. Not necessarily because things are hard. I will also say the same for online fraud that Nigerian male youths are joining too.

A parent selling their kids to survival just shows the love they have for that kid. I can tell you for a fact that they never loved that kid. Love is strong that you wouldn't like to see the person you love go into something that will harm them. Parents like that just prove to us that they felt that kid was a mistake. No love at all whatsoever for that kid.

If the government decides to make the economy better today, crime will still be on the rise. Why do I say so. Imagine one doing crime all his or her life and you expect that person to just stop all because the economy is better now.  He or she have no skill. Only the skill of crime.

Well what you are saying is correct, the instability in our economy has really triggered a lot of crime in Nigeria, just imagine if Nigeria economy was stable and lots of youths have good jobs after school that cater for their immediate needs you will see that lots of the youths won’t bother to join cyber crime and other form of social vises but because most of them have lost confidence in the government and the economy they are looking for other means of survival, most crimes is just because of hardship, most prostitution in universities is because of hardship and hunger, sincerely being a Nigerian at this point is terrible nothing is working in this country, lots of dreams are buried on daily basis.

Well, you are right. I quite agree that government is the cause of economic instability, and such situation can ignite crime . During an economic hardship or instability even people who do their best to survive are also affected as their is financial devaluation making products to be very expensive. However, it is better to make do with whatever you have instead of going into crime. Not every individual that committed crime happened to survive it, infact these individuals who commit these kind of crime end up regretting why they committed such step in the first place because those act they perpetrate use to have long term lasting effect on them, and some even extends
To their families.
